I bought this to protect us from the sun and rain at my son's soccer games... I live in an area that is just plain windy almost all the time and have yet to have issue with it going anywhere. I extend the pole and tighten it and make sure it's stuck in the ground at least 5 inches. I've never had it go anywhere.... I can see if it got free that it would be dangerous, but luckily we've never had it happen. Our whole family of 5 plus some can fit under here....
This umbrella is great for making nice shade at the beach. It is light and portable and when the wings are spread is even good for a fully shaded nap.One thing that is needed are better spikes. Keep in mind a large, and light(read portable) umbrella is going to be effected by wind [...]. So I recommend buying 4 long and sturdy plastic anchors [...]. do not face so the wind catches the underside.Me and my wife and several of our friends use these and all love them. It can be used vertically as well as laying on its edge and provides excellent 50+ shade either way. There is even an XL size available which we have and that is even better but you have to look around for it.
