Great Game! Great Fun! November 11, 2005 Reviewer:  Lilly See all my reviews >

I love group gatherings and I love playing games at those gathering. Stare! is a game everybody can participate in confidently, but still be challenged to the best of their ability. The images on the game cards are a fantastic assortment, both modern and nostalgic, the cards consist of comic book covers, old movies posters, advertisements, art, etc.. In fact, the cards themselves are a talking point at any party. But the game is the fun part. We played in teams, where different team members stared at the image to remember colors (ie. what color was the woman's hat), another tried to remember the positioning of items in the picture (was the man pointing left), and another team member counted things (ie. how many cars are in the parking lot). When our time was up staring at the image, the card was swiftly pulled from us by the opposing team and then our visual recall skills were rigorously tested. We played for hours and the kids were easily able to join in (and embarrassingly showing us adults up quite badly at that). In short, this is a must have. I highly recommend it.

Stare! 2nd Edition even better than the 1st Edtion September 11, 2008 Reviewer:  Reviewer See all my reviews >

Stare! 2nd Edition is even better than the 1st Edition of the game. We like the 1st edition, but absolutely love this 2nd Edition. It is a terrific game that everyone can play. In the Second Edition, the image cards are larger and are of all new crystal-clear fantastically fun images and scenes - such as advertisement scenes, comic book scenes, movie posters, magazine cover art. The key to the images is that they all tell some sort of story. So when you stare at the image, you are really looking at a story -- a romantic dinner at a fancy restaurant, comic book animals playing soccer, a film noir scene, or something like that. So you look at the scene and remember as many details as possible. The object of the game is to stare at the scene until the timer runs out, once time is up, the player or team rolls the die to see which question about the image they will be asked (there are six questions on the back of each of the 300 image cards). For instance, which woman is wearing the green dress? Where is the watering can?, or isn't there a watering can? That kind of stuff. If you answer correctly (and the opposing team or player needs to decide if you are correct by double checking your answer with the scene) you advance on the board and roll for the next question. It is always fun to play in teams of 2-3 people per team. Who knew that drawing on your short-term memory could be so much fun!

(An aside: the good thing about this game is that you can adjust it for different handicaps. If all adults are playing, give everyone 10 or 20 seconds to stare at the card, if kids and adults are mixed in, give the kids 30 seconds (the game comes with a 10 second timer, so turn it over 3 times). However, there is also Stare! Junior which is better geared to kids - it has completely different images than the regular game, the junior edition has images which are solely kids pictures and kids questions.)

Hated it! December 9, 2006 Reviewer:  Julie Michelle (Middle TN)  See all my reviews >

This game was so not-fun! It involves one player staring at a scene and then trying to remember specifics about it. So, conversation-killer while the player does that, and then he/she answers the questions, then on to the next player and conversation-killer. Yuck.

This game is a lot of fun for everyone January 11, 2008 Reviewer:  2boysand1girl "Jill" (Wisconsin)  See all my reviews >

We got this game for Christmas and have already played it a bunch of times with groups. It's a lot of fun for adults and my 12-year-old son loves to play it too. No skill involved other than having a good short-term memory and being really observant. A lot of fun, great buy.

Had lots of fun. August 27, 2007 Reviewer:  Jeff K "Jeff K" See all my reviews >

This is a terrific game for game night because everybody feels like they can win this game, but only the most observant players will win. The object of the game is simple and fun. A player or team of players tries to remember as much detail as possible about an image. You get 20 seconds look at the card. The image cards are lots of fun....famous old advertisements, comic book covers, movie posters, works of art....etc. You have to remember details about the image like - What was the woman purchasing from the cashier? How many people were in the car? What flavor ice cream was the girl eating? etc. If you get the answer right you advance on the game board. If not, you lose your turn and play passes to the next player. This is a great game to leave laying around the living room because games can last as long as you want them to. Just looking through the hundreds of great images is entertainment in and of itself. We had played the original Stare! for years and we were waiting for additional card sets. While the original edition was good, Stare! Second Edition is excellent. The image cards are much larger and the selection of images is even better than the original game. Great Game!

Great Game that everybody can play! August 18, 2007 Reviewer:  Jim D. "A Game Lover" (Seattle, WA)  See all my reviews >

This is a great game. We had a diverse group of people playing and everybody had fun. The idea is simple and the game play is fun. The game consists of several hundred image cards. The images on the cards range from movie posters, comics, works of art, nostalgic advertisements and more. During your turn (or your teams turn), you have 20 seconds to look at an image card. Once time is up, you are asked a series of question about the image you just viewed. Do you remember what color hat the girl was wearing? What two items were on the coffee table? What is the woman buying from the cashier? It is great fun. What a unique game. It is highly recommended for group gatherings.

Fun! December 18, 2006 Reviewer:  Chris See all my reviews >

I learned about this game from my kids. I had bought the junior version of the game and had really enjoyed playing that. So I thought, what the heck -- I should try the family version. Good Choice! While the kids version is a great addition to the children's games cabinet...the family version is terrific for grownup game nights. The object of the game is that players (or teams) stare at an image card for a set time period. We opted for the 20 second version of the game. So players in our games have 20 seconds (2 timer flips) to stare at the image. When the 20 seconds are up, an opposing player (or team) retrieves the card and asks questions printed on the back of the card. How many windows are on the house?; Is the woman to the right or left of the baby? What is the monkey eating? You get the picture. The questions can be very detailed, which adds to the fun of the game. The more questions answered correctly, the further the player or team advances on the board. The image cards are fantastic, with everything from comic book covers, old advertisements (I just love those), Magazine Covers, Artwork, etc. When my kids are awake during game night we let them play along with Stare! Junior. This way the adults and kids are on a level playing field. We adults have our own card set from the family game with more detailed images and harder questions and the kids have their own card set from the Junior Edition of the game with more basic images and easier questions. Perfect! You won't be disappointed!
