Great at first, then the flood! May 27, 2007 Reviewer:  M. G. Novak "Registered Nurse" Real Name (Texas, USA)  See all my reviews >

We have had this coffee pot for 14 months. We used it daily. It brewed great tasting coffee but it started leaking just a little about 2 months after we purchased it. This morning our entire kitchen counter was flooded with 12 cups of water. What a way to start your Sunday! I would not recommed this coffee maker.

Would not buy again February 23, 2007 Reviewer:  Not too happy (Overland Park, KS)  See all my reviews >

I have had this coffeemaker for 13 months. It has been a lemon since day one. The pause n' serve feature does not work. Once the pot beeps done, it takes another 5 minutes before the water stops dripping. We have even replaced the basket with no luck. About 3 months ago the warming plate started to chip/peel off. I will never again buy a Black & Decker coffeemaker.

Been with me through college and still going December 29, 2006 Reviewer:  Laura C. (Tallahassee, FL United States)  See all my reviews >

I bought this coffeemaker right before I started college. I drink ALOT of coffee and this pot has lasted through my everyday morning use, afternoon/evening cups a couple times a week and the occassional overkill of testing and exam times. I graduated about 4 months ago (after 4 years) and it is still working for me every morning. I'm sure there are better pots out there, but this one has been very relaible and is extremely budget friendly. The programmable feature is also nice, you can wake to smell of coffee, but I don't really use it anymore because I prefer fresh grounds. I would definately recommend this product.

Doesn't last long December 14, 2006 Reviewer:  Mathlady See all my reviews >

I really loved this coffeemaker for the first year and a half. Two years after I bought it, the coating on the heating plate started coming off. I believe appliances should last many years, not just 2. I'm shopping for a different coffeemaker now.

LOVE this coffee maker! December 7, 2006 Reviewer:  SoCal Gal (Orange County, CA)  See all my reviews >

I got this coffee maker as a wedding gift and I absolutely love it! It's easy to use, easy to clean and it makes a quick pot of coffee. The power supply did die after 3 years of everyday use, but for $29 that's not too bad! I just went out and bought another one the next day.

Didn't last very long October 13, 2006 Reviewer:  Fan of Mr. Coffee (Athens, GA)  See all my reviews >

I've been through two of these. The first one lasted for three years. I can't remember what caused us to get a new one, but when we did, it only worked for about a year. One morning, it just wouldn't brew anymore. I wasn't too upset, however, as I always thought the brew basket was difficult to clean. Also, it seemed to lose a lot of water to evaporation. For example, I would measure out 6 cups of water using the carafe and would end up with only 5 cups of coffee.

disappointing July 14, 2006 Reviewer:  Fran See all my reviews >

We had a regular B&D coffeemaker that worked fine, but when it died about 18 months later, we decided to upgrade to a programmable one. I chose to stay with B&D (had that extra carafe), but while it looks good and makes decent coffee, it's unreliable. Unless the basket is seated EXACTLY right, the brewed coffee collects in the filter instead of dripping into the carafe, spilling coffee and grounds all over the counter. Likewise, the little lever at the bottom of the basket frequently slips out of place, creating the same kind of mess. And now after about 2 years, the pause-n-serve feature doesn't seem to work any more. I'm getting married in September and am putting another brand on my wish list.

Great buy March 20, 2006 Reviewer:  Diane Wilson "Diane" (Florida)  See all my reviews >

I bought my first Smartbrew quite sometime ago because it had the features I wanted for the price I wanted. I liked its simplicity and ease of use, drip free pouring and it made good coffee. Years later one morning it just wouldn't turn on. I hunted till I found the same model and purchased again. I now am moving temporarily and need a second coffeepot for my temp place and will probably buy the same coffee pot again. Definitely a good buy for the buck!

Nothing fancy, expect to replace January 1, 2006 Reviewer:  Marsh511 (Las Vegas, NV)  See all my reviews >

An example of where buying CHEAP and replacing often can be a good solution. We've gone through 4 units of this coffeemaker over the past 5 years...but it makes coffee great, and $29 every 15 months isn't a bad investment. The best thing is that it gives you an honest 12-cups of coffee -- not like others that say "8 cups", and you pour out a big ceramic mug, and you have maybe 1/2 mug of coffee left! And...by buying the same one over and over, we can now rotate 3 carafes <g>.
