Ok for the price - you can get better for the same price

This item is ok for it's price. In my opinion I could have gotten a better table after the time I spent putting it together. The assembly directions are somewhat accurate. My biggest peeve was that the holes for the screws were either too big or too small. When putting it together some of the directions did not make sense because of the angles and where the holes are located thus making it very annoying and time consuming to put together. One of the pieces of wood had also broken because of the whole angle issue. I also had to put wood glue where some of the screws are because it was not as stable as it appears to be. It looks good once put together but for the money and inconvenience, you are better off getting a different product.

A wonderful table- just make sure when you put it together to use wood glue (or hot glue or somehting)just to be on the safe side to secure the pegs, i made the mistake and forgot it wasn't held together by much but wooden pegs and some screws and the keyboard supporter fell on my foot. The wood glue helped alot. But not only is it beautiful but very well worth it.I GAVE IT A FOUR EVEnTHOUGH IT FELL APART ON MY FOOT- thats how much i love this table :)

I was really surprised at the quality of this desk and its matching hutch. It is pretty nice looking and sturdy for a desk that came out of a box. I am really happy with it and I think that this desk would be a great addition to any college dorm room.

Overall Good Desk

You will notice that the photo does not include any desktop tower (or even cables) in the picture-- it is small, but it is a good design. It bothers me a bit when companies make a picture like that but that's another issue.
This desk is terrific if you use it for the following:
1) iMac or Gateway Profile - type computer
2) Flatscreen monitor with a tower underneath the drawer (which for ventilation will require it being on a non-carpet floor or a plank of wood)
3) Flatscreen in front of a low-progile computer (Like my Gateway Essentials Desktop)
4) Laptop computer or a docking station for a laptop.
It's certainly not necessary, but using it this way will afford you enough space for a printer and even stuff like a handheld cradle, USB hub, etc. I can't emphasize sufficiently the need to use a LCD monitor-- CRTs over 14" will put you very close to the screen.
The drawer is big enough to hold 8.5x11" paper so it's ideal for printer supply storage or computer manuals. I would have liked the option of being able to make the desk left- or right- handed to allow for more flexibility in where I could locate the desk, but this is a small gripe.
If you do any writing or anything, you will need another desk for that. This is a good compliment to any mission-style furniture you might have, but it is not a replacement.
It's hard to find quality wood furniture at a good price anymore, and I am glad I found it here.

We just purchased the desk and folding bookcase and are very pleased. A great product at a great price. The bookcase is already assembled in the box and the desk was very easy to put together. I highly recommend this product.

This is a Furio® Home Product made in Thailand from Plantation Grown Trees (as opposed to cutting down a natural forest). It is just beautiful! I have mine in a small 7' X 8' study and the small depth and width is perfect. (You could get this desk through a small doorway like a 24 inch closet doorway.) The hutch is available at Target's brick and mortar stores and I'm glad I got it despite the wire situation which is a bit unwieldy due to there being no cutout in the back of the hutch. (Practical when it come to moving to have the desk and hutch separate rather than bolted together.) The desk is deep enough for my Gateway Astro (like an I-Mac with the monitor and CPU combined). The hardware is all standard (not odd stuff like in some scan design packages) and, although you still have to deal with locking cams, they do actually lock! You'll need a phillips head screwdriver and an allen wrench (included in hardware package), but is is also helpful to have a hammer and a small block of wood to help tap the parts together. The instructions are easy with both good pictures and words. The parts are drawn with pictures and given letters of the alphabet on a separate reference page and then those letters of the alphabet are used in the assembly diagrams. Although the desk is light weight and easy to asssemble, it is still helpful to have 2 people to put it together to get the cams, dowels, and holes all lined up on both sides. The dowels are conveniently already preinserted for you on one side of a wood part which will connect to another and the running metal tracts for the front drawer and keyboard tray are also already pre-attached to the wood parts. Buy it! (K-Mart has a very heavy large mission desk which I believe is fiberboard rather than solid wood and Office Depot and Office Max have nothing like it)

Great Design, But Not Practical

I recently purchased this Mission Collection computer desk along with the hutch. The desk was fairly easy to assemble; however, the hutch was another story. After several failed attempts at matching the 14 pegs to their corresponding holes on the top shelf, I gave up. It took the coordinated efforts of two people to finally get it right.
The desk looks great in the study, and compliments other furniture in my house. However, it has proven to be less than practical. My computer wires are strung across the back of the desk, and then fed them through the legs of the desk. Even with the help of wire organizers and ties, it's still a messy arrangement. A few holes or slots in the base of the hutch (or even the desk itself) would have prevented all of this.
I would recommend the Mission Collection desk/hutch to someone who has a basic computer system -- monitor, CPU, keyboard, mouse. However, if you have multiple devices -- ZIP drive, printer, scanner, etc. -- connected to your system, then you may want to consider another kind of desk.
