It was easy to assemble & the hardware was not defective. The desk is sturdy and is a space-saving item, since it is only 20 inches deep (now that flat-screen monitors are standard with computers, computer desks do not need to be as deep as they used to be, imo.) There is one flaw with this desk -- the sliding shelf has a half-inch-high lip. To compensate for this you may need either to use a very thick mousepad or to place something under the mousepad (I use a small stack of printer paper), or to just accept the discomfort from having the protruding wood pressing against your wrist.

I ordered, THEN read review's and was kind of dreading what I would recieve. I am absolutey satisfied with this purchase. Was a few minor scratch's on top of desk, but nothing a "wood crayon" wouldnt fix, after all this is not a 400.00 item.
The drawer is not tiny like some reviews stated. I also have another piece in the collection & am very happy with both.
I am going to coat it with polyuathane along with the other piece as will protect the finish for a very long time.
As far as shipping time?? Superman couldn't have gotten it here sooner.

I bought this desk thinking it was 'good enough' for a kid's room. My expectations of a [price] desk weren't high. But the hardware was so ridiculously cheap that almost every screw broke in half with the slightest turn. I was so disappointed and honestly could not believe hardware this junky would be supplied. I am happy to say, I returned it to Target for a full refund without a problem.

The drawer is tiny and barely holds anything. When purchasing this desk, I knew it didn't come with a place to hold the CPU for a computer, but after a while I got sick of my CPU sitting on the floor and decided to buy something better and with more storage. The box this desk comes in is extremely heavy! My husband carried it in the house by himself, but he is freakishly strong. Women purchasing this item will probably need help carrying it :-)

This desk came in good shape and went to together easily. However there are two pieces that have no orientation in the instructions and you will have to make sure they are in the right position or you will have to reassemble. (Part D took some thinking. The hole in the end goes towards the back rail, Part B)

There was some extra hardware which is nice. I use the desk for my laptop and the front edge is a little sharp for use as an arm rest. If you are using it for a keyboard there is a nice roundover on the front.

A wonderful bargain and good looking; but the hardware is cast pot-metal (with the mold lines visible) instead of steel fasteners usually seen in this applicaiton. The hardware cannot be replaced. Target does stand behind their sales and will ship an entire replacement DESK with the return of the entire desk package with the bad hardware. But we finally gave up and discarded the entire mess after waiting repeatedly for replacement(s) and going to [a hardware store] in a vain search for substitutes and so forth. For [an inexpensive] purchase, my time and energy was not worth yet another repacking and [delivery] appointment and so forth and so forth with no end in sight.

Caution advised.

This desk is wonderful. It arrived super fast. I ordered it on a Wednesday and it arrived on Friday. Very easy assembly with easy to understand instructions. It took about 45 minutes to put it together and is very solid. I am very happy with this desk.

I've had this desk since it first came out about 7 or 8 years ago and it's been great. It's held up through moving to three different homes. I also have the matching hutch (the original one, not the one that they carry now) and it's held up as well. It's a very sturdy piece of furniture that will last a looooooong time.

I have had this desk for 5 years and it has served me well and continues to do so. I have had no complaints and it has held up beautifully through 3 moves as well. I'm going going to buy a second one soon for my husband to use so I can have my desk back! Highly recommended!
