I got this for my nephews 5th birthday and he loved it!! Its not going to be super high quality as its fairly inexpensive and made for kids, so I think its pretty good for the cost and age range. The mos important part is that he loves it and learns from it. I will definitely buy from this series again!

I bought this for my three year old twins for their birthday. It was to cold to receive the tadpoles so we went ahead and bought them a toad. The habitat is great other than the lid and sides are a soft plastic, and they aren't very sturdy. And the top isn't attached to the bottom. But, we still love it, we enjoy watching our toad swimming in the water!

After reading the prior reviews I was a little scared to get this product. But I am so glad that I got it anyway. Watching the frogs grow up from tadpoles is very exciting. I think I am more fascinated by this product then my child. After the frogs grew we went and puchased another habitat, the Aquasaurs. The whole family loves them.

Save The Tadpoles and Your Money

The aquarium itself is made of flimsy plastic. It's not even as strong as a plastic milk carton. It's actually 2 pieces. The clear part that holds the water sits on top of the base that looks like rock/sand. My 18 month old was able to lift and separate the two pieces while they were filled with water. The tadpole costs extra. [...] We followed the directions (feeding, changing the water etc.) My 8 year old son was interested for the first month or two but nothing happened. As much as we tried to imagine that we saw the beginnings of leg buds they just weren't growing. Eventually one died and then the other. It was a huge waste of time, effort and money. Buy fish instead.

My nephew loved this toy and I enjoyed it as well! It's great to see something grow and before your eyes and keeps kids interested in science. It's especially great during the winter months when the kids can't be outside as this keeps them encouraged the spring is around the corner!

This is an educational tool however, the tadpoles shipping is an add'l [cost]. It takes anywhere from 2 to 6 wks depending on weather for delivery. I also think the clear plastic part of the habitat is very flimsy. I expected, per the description (break resistant, that it would be hard plastic. It is not. Over all I believe a child would enjoy this but you may want to keep it outside in case the plastic breaks!

i bought this toy with a gift card that my friend got me. i spent the whole gift card on it. they are supposed to come in 4-6 weeks, but it was a 4 month wait for me. my mom kept getting emails about it being on hold. it is supposed to be 3-4 weeks until the tadpoles are frogs, well, i have had it for 5 months and they are STILL TADPOLES!!! they tank water is freezing and the tank is VERY cheap plastic. if i slightly bump the tank when feeding them i hold my breath that it doesn't break. I LOVE THE FISH THAT I RECIEVED INSTEAD OF TADPOLES!

This product is not a great toy for an impatient little boy. We received this as a Christmas gift for my son. We received the tadpoles and one of them died 1 week later. We have had the other one for 5 1/2 weeks now and nothing has changed. We have followed the instructions to a T with no results. My son is starting to get frustrated and just wants to go buy an adult frog from the pet store, but we can't because the tadpole would be eaten. So, we either have to wait for the tadpole to die or metamorphis. That looks like it might take FOREVER! I am also EXTREMELY disappointed in the flimsy plastic it is made of. No animal should live in such a poorly made habitat.

I like the habitat but it is a little flimsey, not hard plastic like it looks.Would recommend for small child but not something an older ( 5-up) can use.
