Lovely, but not energy efficient February 19, 2008 Reviewer:  Nan "Gothic Novel Reader" (Detroit)  See all my reviews >

I've had this lamp for years. I love the clean, bright light that I get with them when I use "reveal" or "natural" light bulbs. In fact, I love this lamp so much that I actually have two of them--one on each side of my sofa.

However, two years after buying these lamps, I wanted to change over to the energy efficient twisted bulbs. Unfortunately, the design of this lamp makes that impossible. The design of the glass shade on the upper light leaves a very small hole for a bulb to fit through before screwing into the socket. The twisted bulbs have a wide base that cannot fit through the space available.

I can say that I found this lamp to be easy to assemble. It's also quite sturdy. I've moved twice since buying the lamps, and both of them have survived completely intact.

My final statement is this: the lamp is quite nice, but if you want to become energy efficient, look to another product.

NO LAMP PROBLEMS...CFL'S DO FIT IN THESE LAMPS! August 18, 2007 Reviewer:  SAMMJOE "SJB" (CHICAGO, IL, USA)  See all my reviews >

I have two of these lamps...and they are great! I've never had any problems with them...going on two years.
THEY DO ACCEPT COMPACT FLUORESCENT LAMPS!! Buy the Philips brand ones (nice shape & color). They definitely fit b/c I have them in both lamps.

bought elsewhere October 5, 2006 Reviewer:  Wayne D. Levy Real Name See all my reviews >

I purchased the same lamp at a lighting store for almost $100 after it was discounted as a floor model. Great lamp, but I should have ordered it from Target.

I love this lamp-you'll love this lamp too September 16, 2006 Reviewer:  Elizabeth E. Lombard Real Name (South Boston, MA USA)  See all my reviews >

I purchased this lamp for a large (dim) bedroom and it lit the entire room; the separate reading lamp is terrific too.
Very important- the lamp is WELL MADE. When assembling some torchieres, the cheap ones have threads that don't twist-on correctly & won't stand properly. Assembly was a breeze and everything fit together beautifully.
The chrome is nice, heavy, solid & the shade is frosted glass, not plastic- this lamp looks more expensive than it is, I plan on buying a second one for the parlor. This is a great product for a great price, thanks again, Target!

Fire warning December 1, 2007 Reviewer:  CH "CH" (DC)  See all my reviews >

My lamp caught fire today as I switched on the top section.

It has always grated a little when switching on and off and there was obviously a problem

be warned

Great Lamp January 26, 2005 Reviewer:  Chana Lynn Brady "Butterfly" Real Name (Atlanta, GA)  See all my reviews >

I bought this lamp on sale to match the brushed nickel hardware on a new bedroom set. It was extremely easy to assemble and it has a very sturdy base. I love that I can just use the reading lamp without having the other light on. It is very stylish and provides ample lighting.

GREAT FOR THE PRICE January 29, 2006 Reviewer:  Happy Shopper "ECT" (Bronx, NY United States)  See all my reviews >

I recently purchased this lamp for my daughter's room. Looks great, was easy to assemble and operate. Those reviewers that had problems, you purchased a lemon and should have returned it for a new one. I am very happy with this purchase. Would have bought 2 more for my living room if the metal was bronze, or matte black.

Great light July 27, 2008 Reviewer:  WendyE. See all my reviews >

This fit the bill for me, a modern design, inexpensive, but provides very bright light that floods light up and provides a reading light down. The downlight is positionable. I have switched the downlight to a florescent and plan to do the same with the uplight when it needs to be replaced. Read the instructions on maximum bulb wattage to avoid any issues, usually printed on the lamp itself on/near the bulb screw in base. I've had this for two years and nary a problem. When I travel I use a timer to switch it on and off automatically. I particularly like the fact that it is heavy and stable, I have a three year old granddaughter. For the price it's extraordinary.

could not assemble the bottom part November 19, 2003 Reviewer:  Kysha Thompson (Bronx, New york)  See all my reviews >

I must have gotten a defective lamp, because I could not get the bottom piece to screw into the base. Both my husband and brother in law tried and it did not work.

I have to return it and get another one.

ALMOST DIED-FIRE, FLAMES, DANGER February 12, 2007 Reviewer:  Mother of 2 (Brooklyn, NY United States)  See all my reviews >

I wish I could give this lamp zero stars. IT ALMOST KILED MY CHILDREN AND I!!!

I bought this lamp less than a year ago from Target. I liked the style but had far too many problems to out way the lamps great look.

-The lamp never brightened up my very small room.

-The reading lamp at the bottom never stayed in place no matter how much I tightened the screw. It went in what ever direction it decided to. Also the silver part at the bottom became very hot and the lamp could not be adjusted while it was on because it burned your hand.

-The larger lamp at the top also constantly fell over. Both the top and bottom lamps have a spring like coil that does not allow the lamp to stay in place. I eventually left the top lamp to fall over like a spot light shining on the floor because I was tired of readjusting the frosted dish so that the bulb faced the ceiling.

-Finally I tossed it out after the top lamp made a "poof" sound and started to flame. Literally flame....not spark but started a blaze. I was lucky that I was not sleeping as my entire apartment would have been up in flames over a [...] lamp.

I am on the market for another lamp and am willing to spend the extra dollars for peace of mind. I would rather spend a couple of extra bucks on quality than have to replace my entire apt's furnishings or worst loose mine or my children's life.
