This toy is cute but it is not durable at all. The lid barely stayed shut when we first got it, after just a few days of play, it is broken. The crank handle is teeny tiny, hard for adults to use and play with their kids. Also, keep in mind this toy is not for kids under 3 as it does have choking & cutting (metal edges) parts. Maybe it was meant to be just for showing babies, and not allowing them to touch it?
