A science lesson... November 6, 2007 Reviewer:  The Future Mrs. Garcia "Kim G." (Alpharetta, GA)  See all my reviews >

My grandmother (both of them), my mother, my aunties, and myself have all used cast iron successfully...and here's why: iron + H20 = iron oxide = rust. If you add water to your cast IRON pan, (water has oxygen in it) you will get iron oxide (aka rust). Just like if you drive your '57 Buick in to the ocean...it will rust. :D *sigh* I give up.

Disappointed June 18, 2009 Reviewer:  C. Bullard Real Name (Raleigh, NC USA)  See all my reviews >

I read all the online reviews and read (and followed) all the care instructions enclosed in the box. Still, my grill didn't perform as well as I would have liked. Grill marks weren't impressive, my meat stuck (despite generously greasing the grill with veg. oil), it was difficult to clean, and started showing rust after the first use. I took it back to the store for a refund the next day and purchased the Kitchen Essentials from Calphalon Styleware Nonstick 12" round grill instead and I LOVE IT!! The grill marks are impressive, it heats up perfectly, the grill grooves are high which allows grease to run down into the pan easily. And what an easy cleanup!

The Best!! March 12, 2009 Reviewer:  Brenda (Minnesota)  See all my reviews >

This grill is great because of the wide spacing between grill ridges, making it MUCH easier to clean than other grill pans I have owned. Put some oil or butter on it after each use and put in the oven for a few minutes on the warm setting, and you shouldn't have any "sticking" problems". Eggs and pancakes slide right off on the griddle side. I would never buy anything other than LODGE ever again!!

this is a great little secret for your kitchen....we never take ours off of our stove....it is the most used kitchen item that we have....my husband, kids and I cook on this most of the time....it reminds me of cooking on a flat top restaurant grill.....just heat it up and it is ready to do the job....I keep mine heated and add water on the top to clean it....makes it an easy clean up....eggs, pancakes, potatoes, veggies on one side and meats on the other....great value plus get some iron for your diet..

Non-stick November 24, 2008 Reviewer:  Simplify "Simple Chef" (Lubbock, Texas)  See all my reviews >

I cooked eggs on this griddle and they do not stick! After using it, I wipe it down with paper towels and re-oil it while the pan is still warm. My whole breakfast is cooked at once.

Great Product! November 24, 2009 Reviewer:  Ferngully "Fernando G" (Union City, nj United States)  See all my reviews >

Makes Excellent Pancakes on griddle side and Excellent Chicken on grill side. Just make sure you don't use soap when cleaning. Hot water, plastic scrub and some elbow grease gets this piece clean. Fully dry and then use olive oil or cooking spray to season.

Best Indoor Grill/Griddle July 24, 2009 Reviewer:  Jennifer Forester "typography wiz" Real Name (San Fransico, CA)  See all my reviews >

This is an essential piece of cookware for anyone who loves grilling. Don't forget to pre-heat (medium for a big burner and just a bit higher for the smaller ones). Don't forget to season (oil before cooking). Don't forget to clean it soon after it's cooled down. Sure it's kind of high maintenance, but the results are completely worth it. Read up about cast iron care online if this is the first time you will own a piece.

All Cast Iron Needs Seasoned June 13, 2006 Reviewer:  L. M. Stevens "1bigreader" Real Name (Utah)  See all my reviews >

In response to the above review. All cast iron needs to be seasoned. (Unless the package clearly states pre-seasoned.) Rub the cast iron down with a good cooking oil then bake the pan. NEVER use water to clean you cast iron. Just use a dry paper towel and wipe off. I love my grill/griddle.

I love this griddle! October 23, 2005 Reviewer:  Ms T Momma (WA)  See all my reviews >

This is a fine piece of cast iron cookware. It heats well and holds it's heat to cook evenly. It leaves beautiful grill lines on steaks and browns pancake to perfection. I would guess our family uses this at least ever other day.

You could get all the iron you need in you diet from cooking on cast iron. Just imagine all the junk you are getting but don't want from using aluminum non stick pans.

Like with all cast iron you need to wash it right away with hot water only and remember to oil it before and after each use. It comes with care instuctions to be followed. Mine smoked the first time I used it but hasn't smoked since.

Works well, but it smokes October 16, 2005 Reviewer:  Marilyn (New York)  See all my reviews >

I don't have a grill in my apartment and was looking for an alternative that had the same concept, only indoors. I purchased this. It's quite heavy. This is not "non stick". The smooth side sucks period. I tried to used Pam Cooking Spray and all it did was smoke. I even used the Pam made for grilling. I must say it does hot dogs, chicken and burgers very nicely on the grill side of it but it's very hot for a long time after cooking. It's also difficult to clean because it's heavy and doesn't fit into most sinks. I have burn spots on mine that no matter what I try on it to clean it they just don't come off. I even tried to clean it when it was still warm but alas, nothing works. If this product was more 'non stick' it would be perfect.
