My husband and I registered for this for our wedding and we love it. It has many settings and the slotts are very wide. We have had no problems with it!

I registered for and received this toaster as a wedding gift. It was very attractive, and looked nice with my other stainless steel appliances on the kitchen counter. The only problem with it was that the carriage would not stay down. I thought it just needed to be "broken in", but it did not seem to get any better. You could get to stay down sometimes, but even then it didn't seem to toast for the right amount of time given the setting. We finally gave up and bought a Cuisinart (which works beautifully!)

From the description, this toaster seemed perfect. It looks great, combining brushed stainless steel and black trim; it has extra wide and long slots; it has additional lift capability; it has a slide out crumb tray; it has defrost and quick cancel/stop buttons; it has all the controls on the front end rather than the side; and it has multiple darkness settings.
When it arrived, at first glance it seemed all I had hoped for, but then I began to notice things: two of the four legs came with different end pieces that resulted in it rocking a bit and sliding around a bit rather than sitting solidly in one place; and even with the extra lift capacity, smaller items like english muffins and bagels never clear the top, forcing me to use a utensil to get them out. It actually looks like it was designed to lift toasted items higher since there is unused room at the top in the slots at either end where the holder slides up and down, but it appears they put the holder in too low so that it never utilizes the extra capacity up top. The above two are the biggest problems. The rest, things like a slide out tray that doesn't sufficiently cover enough of the bottom to catch all crumbs that fall, are problematic too, but I could deal with if that were it.
Bottom line: I am amazed that a company would have such poor quality control in its manufacturing process. This toaster by description could have been the best one on the market, but instead I ended up returning it. It actually makes me suspect that at some point after purchasing it from Oster, Target came to know of these problems and this is why it chose not to offer this model physically at its stores but rather only via online. Now, it may be that inexpensive toasters in general have such problems, and one needs to spend a lot more for better quality. All I know is that I was actually excited about this toaster, and ended up being very disappointed.

This toaster is attractive and toasts well. The only design flaw we've encountered is when trying to get your toast or bagel out of the toaster, the lever doesn't lift it up very high so you have to stick your fingers in to reach it. Since it is made of metal, the top slot gets hotter than it might on a plastic toaster, and can burn your fingers. Be careful! But otherwise is a great toaster. I especially like the tray that catches your crumbs.
