I bought this after I spotted an identical one for about five times as much in a certain, ahem, brand name catalog. I was impressed by the quality of the product...it was very extremely easy to put together and it's HEAVY. I was worried about it being tippy or unstable, especially since I have a toddler in the house. I didn't want her to be able to pull it over if she climbed on it, but it's so sturdy and solid, I don't have anything to worry about. It looks classy in my living room and has just enough shelf space to hold books and some pictures. Well worth the price!

I ordered two of these bookshelves for my living room. They are very nice looking, and for the most part, very sturdy. Not quite as sturdy as I expected after reading the reviews, but they work. I would buy them again!

If zero stars were an option, I would give zero stars to this bookcase. After struggling through the largely incomprehensible pictoral instructions for this masterwork of modern craftsmanship and design [...] I was greeted with a wobbly shelf. And not your typical, cheap Chinese restaurant table wobbly, but hull of a ship on the high seas wobbly. Seriously, this thing wobbles nearly three inches in either direction, even though it is clear that all the pieces are in the right place. Now I have to go through the extreme inconvenience of taking it apart and preparing it to be sent back, where it will be used as firewood. I would gain significantly more satisfaction from burning it myself, since this is probably the only use to which this thing can be put.

While the instructions had much to be desired, once assemble it was stable and solid. The wood is of solid wood construction and if assemble correctly is stable and reliable.

As for the description of antique, it is clear that this is a title to explain the poor paint job. But, it seems to be a common trend in all these products and the poor paint job isn't noticed unless you look really close.

I plan to buy one more of these shelves for my libray, I use them as storage and have many nice organization boxes stored on each level. It takes the weigh well with no issues.

I purchased two bookshelves to use on either side of a large tv around two years ago. They are great. I have since had custom bookshelves built in my den, and moved these to the sunroom where they now hold my scrapbooking supplies, decorative baskets, framed photos, etc... The carpenter that was here doing the custom work highly complimented these shelves and couldn't believe what a deal they were. I would recommend them to anyone as they are very gender friendly and can be used in many ways. They would be great in a large bathroom (spa-like) for thick fluffy towels and toiletries and candles.

For my purposes, to have old/older stereo components (receiver, turntable, tape deck) on a space-saving, vertically-aligned piece of furniture, it is perfect. I have extra shelves for the cd/dvd/ipod device that I expect to get. Being short (5') it provides easy access (without a step stool) to all the components. The Rack is very sturdy, very easy to assemble and the right color for my components. I've set it in a corner, at an angle. I ordered it on Monday and had it by Friday, in Seattle.

Love em, there was a few minor scratches but i was able to fill them in with black marker and you can't tell at all. Very stable and beautiful. Dust magnets though!

Easy to assemble, sturdy, looks great! Very happy with these. The only thing I don't care for is the decorative tabs that cover the screws (on the sides) keep falling out. I have a baby and a dog and they will both eat them so they need to be glued in.

My husband and I bought this bookshelf and the matching desk over 3 years ago and both pieces have made it through an out of state move and 3 months of storage! They have held up wonderfully and they have the antique look that I wanted for our office! The bookshelf is just the right size to put flat against a wall or at an angle. Great for books, frames, and other accessories. Definitely comes highly recommended from me!
