Great solid desk! September 13, 2007 Reviewer:  Chicago Guy "Mark B" (Chicago, IL, USA)  See all my reviews >

Well, after reading the reviews, I decided to go ahead and purchase this desk and was not disappointed. It took about 20 minutes to assemble and I did it all myself. I'm a veteran of assembling furniture and I've noticed people are having a hard time putting this together. Here's a tip, make sure that you are using the correct pieces for the trestles. You'll notice 2 pieces have holes on the top edge, while the other 2 don't. You pair one with the other. This will solve the problem of having no predrilled holes. Also, when putting trestles together, make sure to only lightly tighten the screws. Only when the trestle is made should you tighten the screws fully. Hope that helps. I'm very happy with this desk, and have gotten numerous compliments. Thanks!

Great desk-arrived safely! March 10, 2009 Reviewer:  manduda (Fort Wayne, IN United States)  See all my reviews >

I was also worried about the condition the desk would arrive in (based on other reviews) but not to worry! It arrived with NO DAMAGE! One thing I missed from other reviews was the dimensions of the shelves. The top shelf is 15"W x 19"D x 7"H and the bottom is 15"W x 23"D x 10"H.

Faulty Craftmanship and Poor Delivery September 20, 2007 Reviewer:  Integrity "Informed Consumer" (Fairfield County, CT.)  See all my reviews >

After careful consideration, I decided to make this purchase based on the product's aesthetic appeal and price point. The value proposition seemed great, however I was REPEATEDLY proved wrong. After opening my first of two deliveries, I found that a few of the parts, the table top (itself nearly ~40 pounds), and two of the four shelves, were in POOR CONDITION. Effectively, you could consider that these parts were unusable as what was supposed to be one cohesive part was actually two. Soon after, I contacted Target's customer service line and requested that ANOTHER Trestle Desk be sent. A few days later it arrived. I was very excited to put the desk together, but was slightly annoyed that I had to repackage the old desk for UPS to pick up. Regardless, what was most important to me at the time was to assemble this second delivery. After getting nearly 80% of the assembling completed, all that was left was to connect the legs (two in the picture shown above) to the table top. I quickly realized that this unit too suffered from FAULTY craftmanship. Each leg had separate issues that were somewhat related in that they dealt with the connection point between the legs and the table top. One leg's connection point did not align properly to the connection point on the table top and therefore the screw could not be screwed in! The other leg's connection point, however, did align to the connection point of the table top, but did not have the metal in the connetion point necessary for the screw to hold in place! At this point, it was midnight and I was EXTREMELY frustrated. I contacted the customer service line once again and was directed to repackage both products for UPS to pick up. As I am sure you can imagine, this was the last thing I wanted to do. I advise you as an informed consumer to NOT buy this product! The craftmanship and delivery process are highly questionable at best.

Very low quality August 25, 2007 Reviewer:  M. Hardy Real Name (Charlotte, NC)  See all my reviews >

First off, I was very excited to get this desk. I like the looks and size of it and, having bought furniture at Target in the past, was anticipating a good quality product. The assembly was easy and the directions were surprisingly good. When we went to position it in the office one leg completely detached from the desk top. Upon inspection, the mounts for the legs are glued on and screwed, but apparently the screws were stripped as they popped right out. I will be returning this desk and will look elsewhere. Too bad, because I really do think Target sells a good product normally.

Box of Frustrations March 14, 2006 Reviewer:  Pizza Queen (Rochester, MI)  See all my reviews >

We bought this desk and matching "Madison Swivel Office Chair", exciting and loving the way both of them looked. After attempting to put together the chair and finding defective parts, we tackled the desk. We found there were parts that were broken off, parts not attached that were supposed to be, pre-drilled holes not lined up or deep enough, screws missing, etc. Basically, there was no way to assemble it. $199 for this desk seemed to good to be true - definitely should have followed my instincts.

Very Pleased July 1, 2009 Reviewer:  Still a Student See all my reviews >

I ordered this desk a couple of months ago. It arrived within days of placing of my order. I had read negative reviews about shipping, but the desk was in perfect condition when I received it. The outside box was somewhat beat up, but the inside box was fine, and the desk itself was in great shape. It was extremely easy to put together. My husband and I assembled it in less than 30 minutes. It looks fantastic in our house, and was a great deal for the price. It is very sturdy and has plenty of room for whatever you want to do (study, in my case). I would definitely recommend buying this desk.

Bad News June 4, 2009 Reviewer:  Bad News See all my reviews >

The desk would be a great purchase if not for the fact that Target sent me a refurbished one. I believe they send out the refurbuished ones in hope that you would not bother sending them back. This has just confirmed for me that I do not wish to do business with a company that does not stand behind their product. I would rather shop at [..].

Target must have solved their shipping problems! April 18, 2009 Reviewer:  Erin Stevens Real Name (Phoenix, AZ)  See all my reviews >

I ordered this desk on 4/14, in the late afternoon. It's 4/17 as I type this, and the desk is already assembled in my office. The desk was packaged beautifully; not an inch of wiggle room, and double boxed! It was extremely easy to assemble, and is a great piece of furniture. My only word of caution; be sure to read the dimensions for this desk, and measure your room. This desk is HUGE (which I love). It's a beautiful addition to my newly re-decorated room. I couldn't be happier!

It's huge! March 16, 2009 Reviewer:  Brooke (PA)  See all my reviews >

I love this desk, and I was fortunate to get it while it was on sale. Most of the negative reviews are concerning shipping, and I am not the hugest fan of Target.com, so I totally understand. However, if you do receive the desk in perfect condition as I did (thank you UPS driver!) I'm sure you will love it. This desk looks great, is huge, and is very sturdy.

I Love Target-Usually..except for THIS!! January 28, 2009 Reviewer:  Blessed with Two "Supermom" (Smithfield, RI)  See all my reviews >

Update: Sent first back and the second desk was even worse off--was fully fefunded but what a pain to have to box two desk back up--lots of tape wasted-ugh! Now the search continues...Well, as LOTS of reviews stated: This is a table that 'you get what you pay for'! After a ton of hours shopping around for a very cool piece of furniture to use as a table/desk in a living room area (didn't want a computer desk look) I found I kept coming back to this piece. It seemed very contemporary with modern lines (being a nice mix for an eclectic style home)well, I was certainly excited when I got the desk at 15% off PLUS free shipping-saved over $! Can't beat that right?! WRONG! When it arrived, the underneath piece on the middle of the desktop was also broken as others have stated in thier purchases-you can move it over to repair, but still very unhappy...and did I mention ALL THE MANY DEEP SCRATCHES on the desktop itself!!?? Was it a return?? What!? Will I live with these major problems...we'll see. If I can get the same price for an exchange I may...just hate to think of loading it back in the box and taking it to the store. UGH! I also agree with many that UPS should NOT be Target's carrier for furniture--they are simply rough and awful! Good luck on YOUR purchase!
