Loved it for as long as my son fit in it! June 22, 2006 Reviewer:  Hayden's Mommy "NJCH" (San Francisco, CA. USA)  See all my reviews >

We used this for my newborn son. He was 20" long when he was born and we used this since the first night we brought him home. Since he's our first born, this worked great because my husband and I both were afraid we'd squish him if he slept in our bed. This worked great, he slept very soundly and we both felt safer at night. At 2 months, he already outgrew this sleeper, however we will definitely use it for our next little one!

Great first sleeping option for newborn June 21, 2006 Reviewer:  Sleeping soundly See all my reviews >

We absolutely loved this sleeper. It was the perfect first sleeping option and it lasted our baby just under 3 months, because he got too long for it, though even if he'd been shorter it was time to move him to his own space then anyway. Definitely worth $40 for the convenience and practicality of this wonderful sleeper!

The sides are hard (but covered in a quilted fabric), which disturbed me at first but the baby was secure and couldn't move over it - despite his best efforts! It also kept me from moving over that barrier even while I slept.
You can't nurse the baby when he's in the sleeper - it's too high for that, but it is easy to lift him out even from a lying-down position. A godsend for sleepy new mommies! Then when he's done, you just put him back gently, and all is well. The least disturbance possible for maximum sleep in those tough early days.

The matress is totally adequate given the small weight a newborn puts on it. For sheets, we just tucked an additional fleece receiving blanket around the matress snugly. A pillowcase works as well.

The end is also a hard barrier, which was good because I've seen ones that are open at the bottom but our baby kept trying to slide down and would have escaped into the vast sea or our bed if he hadn't been contained.

The most brilliant feature is the LED light. It is *perfect* for feedings (when you still have to look to see what you're doing) and for those kajillion times you wake up to check that your tiny one is still breathing! It provides great visibility and doesn't disturb or hurt your eyes. And in 3 months of constant use, ours showed no sign of wearing out. In fact, the whole unit is still in perfect condition after a few washings.

We however have our bed next to the wall, so it went next to the wall and I was on the other side. The manufacturer suggests putting the baby between the parents, but I don't recommend that! For one thing, you can't touch each other (and if you don't snuggle a little while you're sleeping, when CAN you touch with a newborn in the house?) and for another, you have to be really careful that shared blankets don't cover the baby. If you do that, you should probably have separate blankets or none altogether.
As it was, I did wake up constantly afriad that my blanket or pillow would sneak over and cover the baby (it never did).

By the time he was 10-12 weeks old though, I realized I didn't need the baby so close anymore - he moved to a bassinet separate from our bed. I did finally sleep much better at that point.
Also, if you are a very heavy sleeper or move a lot, this item might be treacherous. Or if your bed is too small. We have a Queen but my partner and I sleep pretty close, so it wasn't an issue. With a King (in hotels) we were able to put it on the outside of the bed, even without a wall, and felt like the was a huge margin of safety for the baby on both sides. Once we even got us, the baby in his sleeper, and the dog all in one bed (but didn't sleep very well to be honest).

And the best thing of all: We traveled quite a bit and the sleeper folds easily and travels great. SO simple, and who needs more hassle when you're learning to juggle a newborn?

Not so great June 19, 2006 Reviewer:  livi "livi j" (pa)  See all my reviews >

At fisrt I thought this would be great but when I really looked at it I realized the matress was on a slope. But I decided to give it a try anyway. But after ONE WEEK my daughter was too long for it... and she isn't even a long baby. She would slide down and her feet would hang out.
The light did come in handy. I put the sleeper away but still use the light.

Wonderful Product!! Great for Preemie's too!!!!! June 15, 2006 Reviewer:  AJ's Mommy (California, USA)  See all my reviews >

My husband and I throughout my whole pregnancy knew that we wanted to co-sleep with our baby, when we were browsing through the store as we were creating our registry I came upon this product and thought how neat it would be to have. Little did I know that it would be SO helpful! Our son was born 7 weeks early at only 4 lbs 7 oz and spent his first 13 days of life in the NICU before he came home. He was only 5 lbs when he did come home, he was so tiny, if it hadn't been for this product I think I would have been afraid to sleep with him in our bed since he was so tiny, but I would have been even more afraid to leave him alone in his crib! Having the Close and Secure Sleeper really did make us feel secure, knowing that our baby was safe and right there next to us! It made nights so nice! Even now that he's bigger we still use it everynight, its just nice to know that he'll be staying in one spot! It also works really well for visiting! I can very easily take this along with me to anyone's home, place it in the middle of their bed and let my son nap without having to worry! I would highly recommend this product to anyone with a new born, and especially to those who will be bringing home preemie's...it just gave me such a peace of mind to have him comfortably next to me all night long! Oh yeah, and having the night light is great for night time feedings, it never woke my husband up and is soft enough that it doesn't bother the baby!

great for fussy babies! June 14, 2006 Reviewer:  Expecting in April (Central Valley, NY)  See all my reviews >

We got a great pack and play with bassinet attachment for a shower present and my baby slept in it twice! She uses it just for play now. The close and secure sleeper has been a life saver! Our baby girl has acid reflux, colic and battled a milk allergy so needless to say she has been very fussy and difficult to get to sleep. We are still trying to get her to sleep in her crib and plan to use this as a transition (put in crib so it is familiar to her). The only negative comment I have is that my baby is 2 months old and already getting too long. She is a big baby so this may not be a concern for most.

good changing table May 31, 2006 Reviewer:  sad mom (Southern California)  See all my reviews >

I have a queen size bed and there is no way that two adults could sleep comfortably with this bed in between their pillows. We used it as a changing table on top of our daughter's dresser, she's 13 mo. now and we still use it for every diaper change. She's almost too big for it, her legs hang way over so it definatly wouldn't work for sleeping but for diapering it's great. It's still in great shape and I'm planning on using it again for our next one. It's also good as a travel bed for a very young baby.

Didn't really serve the purpose... May 23, 2006 Reviewer:  Jazi's Mom (California)  See all my reviews >

I bought this for my 4 month old so that she would have a secure sleeping area during our first vacation and so that I could bring with me on house visits. My baby is fairly small and skinny so she was able to move around in it and on many occassions I would see her leg or arm hang out so I still ended up putting her in the middle of the bed with several pillows. I barely got to use it for a month or so because she had mastered turning and sitting up. It's also bulky to travel with and not really necessary at home since she had a crib that was much more secure for her.

Awesome portable bed / good for diaper changes too! May 17, 2006 Reviewer:  Lillie's Mom "Gina" (St. Louis, MO)  See all my reviews >

I LOVE this item. It is so portable you can move this anywhere. It has a small light that goes with it so you can check your little one in the middle of the night. It folds up for easy maneuvering around the house. You can use it on your couch/bed/dresser for changing your baby. Highly recommended and my daughter sleeps like a lamb in it!

This helped with my worries April 4, 2006 Reviewer:  B. Britt "Mommy to Jaidyn" Real Name (Palm Springs, CA)  See all my reviews >

I am a first time mom and worried about SIDS every second my daughter was asleep. I woke up what felt like every second just to check on her. I purchased this before i had her and it helped to ease the fear. I loved having her right next to me and knowing she was safe. I never feared i would roll on her or anything. This is one of my must haves for my next child.

Close and secure sleeper March 28, 2006 Reviewer:  1st time momma! "Jackson's momma" (Poca, WV)  See all my reviews >

When my little guy and I came home from the hospital, I was so worried about SIDS I could not sleep at night. Even though he was in the bassinet beside me, I was scared. My mom called to see if I needed anything, and I told her to see if she could find this. She bought it and brought it over. We have a king sized bed, so we had plenty of room for this on our bed. I did start feeling a little better about sleeping at night. I love the night light that comes with it. I also like the fact you can travel with it. When Grammy watches him, she always uses this at night. I am now using our regular bassinet with the angelcare monitor in it, but this saved me on those first nights home.
