I have a 5,3,2 year old. We bought leapster for the oldest and realized the others would benefit too. So we bought each one their own module. We purchased all the cartridges. I highly recommend the leapster and its games. Very educational and fun. However, Mr.Pencil is very frustrating. I thought it was due to lack of skill for the kids, but even I and my wife could not make MrPencil happy. I took my time and tried my hardest and could not do well. Very disappointing for the kids that are learning, because when they are actually doing it right, they recieve no credit from Mr. Pencil. Anyways. we love Leapster and want new games.

This is by far the best L-Max game for my preschoolers. I have a 2 1/2 yo and a 4 yo and they both fought over it so much, I had to go out and buy a second one! It's great to teach prewriting skills via it's tracing function and also absolutely wonderful for imaginative drawing. It taught my kids color mixing (what happens when you mix red with blue). But, most of all, my son LOVES mazes and was having a hard time with his fine motor skills. At first he was so frustrated with the maze games, but was so determined to get to the finish that he learned to stay within the lines in a matter of weeks...a BIG feat for him! This game almost single-handedly made his dexterity and fine motor writing skills a million times better. A few months ago he couldn't even draw a circle. He shocked me the other day when he wrote his own name in full...and I didn't teach him. And, my 2 yo budding artist can play with this until the batteries run out! All their older cousins also love to play with it (ages 6 through 11). A safe bet that you won't regret!

I bought this game for my 5yr. old for Chritmas and he absolutely loves it!!! It is by far his favorite game and he has learned to draw just about anything along with learning to create different colors! My 4yr. old loves it just as much! I'd recomend this game to any parent that has a little artist on their hands!!!!!

This toy is fabulous. I got the L-Max for my 4 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas and our neighbor up the street go this for her Leapster and after I tried it (yes, me), I ran out and got it for my daughter. She now has 6 cartiges and this is her favorite. She and I take turns and she loves playing it. This is a also a great learning tool for writing letters, numbers, and using your imagination. I am a huge Leap Frog fan. This is just another great toy to add to the Leap Frog collection. I would recommend this along with the L-Max Leapster learning system to any parent with a child 3 years or older. Enjoy!

This game is impossible, even I couldn't do one of the numbers and after a few tries Mr. Pencil quits the game and goes back to the menu saying "try again later".

Our two youngest children, ages 4 1/2 and 3 1/2, both love Mr. Pencil. We purchased this title almost a year ago, and it receives more "play time" than most of our other Leapster titles. Our 3 year-old son loves the part of the game where you mix the paint colors together to make a new color by following a recipe. He plays and plays for hours and rarely becomes frustrated. I highly recommend this title, especially if your children love the painting and drawing part of the internal Leapster game.

My kids have had this for a few years and still play with it all the time. I would say out of all the leapster games this is the one they don't tire of.

This is a great game.My son(4) and I play it for hours. We love to make the flip books/animate the best. The mazes are a bit frustrating because children tend to lift the pencil and then they have to start over.I just told my son not to play that part anymore. There is SO much to do on this game that he doesn't miss that part.

I bought this for my daughter. I also thought this was a very fustrating toy for her. No matter how well she did it Mr.Pencil didn't think it was very good. Using regular paper and pencil is the best way to teach them to write. Overall the Leapster is a great product though. Just not this cartridge.
