Set Your Expectations Low

Well designed crib with a clean, classy style. Great color selections & complementing pieces.
However, be aware & be prepared to be disappointed when you receive this item. Ours showed up in 2 boxes that were obviously beat-up. Out of the 12 wood pieces that were in the boxes, 10 of them had obvious damage - large dents, long scratches, discoloration, and even what appeared to be soda splatter in one area.
Target online returns is easy & they even refund shipping charges if product is damaged...but what a pain to unpack it all & have to repack all the pieces. We'll stay away from online furniture shopping in the future...it's just easier & more reliable to be able to pickup from a store where you know things are stored correctly & safely.

I recieved the Ellis crib as a gift. Upon shipment, the box was so damaged, that had I have been home I would not have accepted it. Parts were practically falling out of the two boxes! I called target.com and recieved another crib promptly. This box was damaged too but not as heavily as the first one.
We finally put the crib together and noticed that there were a few parts that were damaged. (Mainly the front legs and the top piece that makes the headboard.) This time I called Simplicity and they were good about getting the parts out to us promptly. However, of the parts recieved, one of the parts matched, but the two front legs were in a completely different finish!
I again called Simplicity to replace the front legs in the correct finish, but I was told that there has been a change in the natural finish and I may not get the same color. I could either have the parts shipped out again and hope they might match, get a refund on the crib, or have a new crib sent. We decided to chance it and have the parts sent in hopes that they will match. We are still awaiting our parts. If they do not match and they send us a new crib, we have to take apart the old crib and put it in the boxes that the new one was sent. Not worth the effort, but we recieved this as a gift otherwise I would ask for a refund!!!!

I love the crib but have had a terrible time getting one that is complete (all the correct parts) or damaged in shipping. The original one had the wrong legs in the package. After contacting the manufacturer they sent me a replacement leg but it was the wrong color. They then offered to send me a whole new crib but they were out of stock. When they became available they sent me one but it was damaged in shipping so they overnited me another one but it also was damaged. I still am waiting for one good crib and the baby is due today.

After researching various cribs & styles, we decided upon the "sleigh" crib look & found this one by Simplicity as we really liked the style of it & the fact it was VERY practical (4-in-1!) & very reasonable in price.
Delivery was prompt -- it took about 1 week -- and putting it together took about 30-45 minutes. (Some directions were not very clear.) The natural color is very pretty and it is a very sturdy crib. Again, we love the "sleigh" look. However we did find various scratches & even a few hairline cracks, along with 2 small circled areas on the back headboard that looked filled in with some sort of white putty. Not wanting to deal with a huge return (cribs are a large item to return), we are keeping it & just overlooking the flaws. (I am not a perfectionist, but you can clearly see these flaws.)
Overall, (& overlooking the flaws), we are pleased and will keep the crib however we would suggest Simplicity have a quality control department to examine their cribs before sending them out to customers. Had they done that, they would have caught these flaws & sent out a less scratched up crib. (Note: The 2 boxes the crib came in were intact -- not damaged -- and when we unwrapped the crib from the packaging, the flaws were present, so we presume the crib was sent out as is.)

I ordered this crib and matching changing table combo online and even with the shipping and tax it cost less than the identical set at a local baby retailer. Because of the other reviews, I ordered the items far in advance in case there were any missing or broken parts. The shipping was faster than expected, within a week and a half or so. The boxes were beat up, but nothing was damaged or missing. This is a great quality crib for the price and everyone thinks I paid more than I actually did. I highly recommend purchasing this crib and the other matching items. We had no problems putting this together with the instructions except when it came to attaching the mattress rail to the crib, we finally figured it out and all was well.
The only problem thus far is that a standard crib bumper doesn't fit with the mattress at the highest height. This should not be a problem for a taller person who can put the mattress at a lower height.

we are expecting our first child, and this was very easy to put together! I was nervous buying over the internet, not seeing the item first in person, but this crib exceeded both my husband and my expectations! Very sturdy and beautiful finish!

I was very nervous purchasing this crib after reading all the reviews where parts were damaged and missing and my husband was nervous not seeing it put together ahead of time. We ordered this in mid Feb. and it was delivered within a week in two boxes that were sealed well. We just put the crib up tonight because we weren't finished with the room. I was hesitant waiting this long in case a piece was damaged or missing. All the pieces were packed and nicely labeled. No scratches to be found!! It took us about 1 and 1/2 hours due to our normal bickering while building something. The crib is beautiful!! Very sturdy and matches the armoire we bought from a different store. The kit for the conversion is separately packed so be sure to read the bags. I highly recommend this crib! The crib looks like it was way more expensive than what we paid. Our baby isn't due till April but I can't wait to finish putting the bedding on. We are very pleased with the Simplicity Ellis Convertible Crib! But now I'm a little disappointed we didn't purchase the changing table combo that went with it.

The crib arrived within one week of ordering it. It was relatively simple to put together and the durability is beyond what I imagined. There was a hair-line split in the headboard when we received it so my husband put in a phone call, supplied the part number and within one week we received a new headboard. That's excellent customer service. I'm thrilled with our decision and have no regrets.

I ordered this crib and was very disappointed when I received it. [...] Luckly I ordered it early enough before my baby is due (4/2) and I still have time to shop around. Good luck if you order this crib.

This is an excellent buy for the quality of the crib. My husband and I looked at several similar cribs but ultimately went with this one based on reviews and price. Others were as much as 2x the price. It is very sturdy and was easy to assemble. I am 7 months pregnant and it took us a little less than an hour from start to finish and that's mattress, skirt, bumper, and bedding. We are ordering the combo dresser and dresser now because we were so impressed. It took a while to get the crib because only one box was delivered in the first shipment but Target.com customer service was great and simply sent out a whole new crib. The boxes were a little worn but there were no nicks or scratches at all. It arrived in great condition and with all parts. Overall a great experience!
