Description
The mad Kratos is guided by the gods to fight through hordes of enemies from Greek mythology and overthrow the war god Ares. Similar to franchises like Devil May Cry, Rygar, and Castlevania, the game draws its inspiration from ancient Greek mythology and boasts a heavy emphasis on exploration and battle strategy. Broken into three to four acts, the game also has a strong focus on story-telling and boast tons of magic spells and abilities. Described as "Clash of the Titans meets Heavy Metal", God of War equips its hero with a pair of sword-like chain weapons that can grab enemies, perform multi-hit combos, and pull off a variety of different aerial attacks. Slight platforming elements and an energy collection system similar to that of Onimusha have been incorporated as well, and players are even able to use certain elements of their fallen enemies as a weapon (re: Medusa's head, for instance, can be used to turn enemies to stone after you've defeated her).

God of War is a brilliant game, and the awesome graphics make it all believable. I love how it's all put together, from the story of Kratos, to the missions, all the characters, etc. But I must admit that it may have been a little too heavy for me. I didn't realize that I was such a wuss until I got deep into the game and my hands began to shake and tremble as I was playing. I haven't seen it thru to the end, and I definitely plan to -- I just won't buy God of War II because I'm just plain ole too buttery for this.

God of War is the perfect mix of brutal action and strategy. The visuals are awe-inspiring and the landscape design is beyond compare. If you own a Playstation 2, this is one of the must-have games for this system. Five stars! Excellent!!!!

It's down to 19.95 and it is a in depth roll playing game with alot of action that requires quite a bit of thinking and problem solving to progress. Its a great mixture of blood and strategy. I have to give this 5 stars and my personal Game of the Year award.

god of war is by far the best action game of the year it mixes old school with new and has awsome grafixz exelent game play and a deep storyline seriouse gamers will apreciate this game i rate it 10 star out of 5
