THIS IS THE BEST PRODUCT I HAVE USED IN A WHILE OTHER THAN THE BOWFLEX WHICH COSTS MUCH MORE. ON THIS MACHINE YOU HAVE THE FREEDOM TO VARY YOUR EXERCISES AND INCREASE YOUR ROUTINE MORE THAN A REGULAR CABLE AND WEIGHT MACHINE. I WOULD SUGGEST THIS FOR ANYONE NEEDING TO GET FIT AND/OR NEEDING REHABILITATION.

All you want to know is if it works or not. In a word, yes! You can perform many exercises on this machine, from basics such as pull-ups to more focused moves such as butterfly presses. I'm pretty out of shape, and I know I need to work on getting fit. This was my thought when I purchased the Total Gym 1100. First off, this is NOT the Total Gym advertised by Christie Brinkley and Chuck Norris on the late night informercials. That being said, the basic premise is the same: use your own body's weight to provide resistance during strength training. It does a good job of that. It's simple to set up and use, it's lightweight, and it doesn't take up a ton of space when folded. One last thing- the "maximum" user weight limit on the machine is 275 pounds. That's about where I am now- when I started, I was more like 375, and it held me comfortably. That should give you a clue as to if this works or not.
