I bought this machine for small sewing projects and I LOVE IT!! It sews 550 stitches a min. I realize that's not very fast but it when you're learning to sew. It's also very portable which is wonderful because I travel a lot and I can take it with me. This machine is a little gem. I was even able to sew a zipper in without using a zipper foot. I will say one negative thing. When I first took it out of the box and tried to sew, it would only go backwards and it seemed that the feed dog wasn't working right. After I played with it a while I pushed on the feed dog and after that I worked GREAT. I think they must have come loose during shipping. Other than that little mishap I highly recommend this machine!

Based on all of the very very positive reviews, I purchased this recently. It is incredibly easy to use, and I love it. It sews fast enough for me and i have sewn before as a kid, but haven't ever learned much on how to operate a machine (mother would always thread the bobbin, etc.). REALLY REALLY neat machine and what a great price. As others say, it is very very solid and heavy. Nothing cheap here. I could do without the color but I think this is Janome's way of marketing to "yung'in's" to get them into sewing and then get them buying the really expensive ones later. Little did they realize that us older-ones would purchase this too! Great purchase here.

I purchased this machine because I didn't want to spend a fortune at the cleaners having patches put on scouting vests and uniforms (I had quite a few saved up). Prior to this project, I had never used a machine to sew. The booklet that came with the Hello Kitty machine gave step by step instructions that were so easy to follow. My twelve year old daughter even took over for a while, and that is the first time she has sewn on a machine. I will still be a "beginner" for quite some time, I'm sure, but with this machine, I have the confidence to tackle something a little more challenging next time I sew. Thanks to all the people who took the time to write reviews. I'm so happy with my purchase!

I am so pleased with my purchase. This machine is exactly what I was looking for. It's sturdy, not plasticky. It's easy to learn quickly by just using the manual. I bought metal bobbins just as the other reviewers suggested. It runs smoothly, and I've finished my first two projects.
Even though I'm a beginner, I reall see it continuing to suit me for years to come. It's fabulous, not to mention, I love the look/color.
Also, it's size is perfect! Not so small that it seems cheap, but not so large that its over heavy and hard to find room for. I am reall pleased with this machine.
People mentioned how it was a bit slow. I have not noticed this and at my beginner stage, rarely use it full-speed ahead. I think the speed is perfect!
I do know my mom's old sewing machine was REALLY fast, so much so it made me nervous. Highly recommend this product.

I came across this machine by accident and I was skeptical. I've encountered many products dressed up with hello-kitty cuteness that never quite lived up to its actual intended use. But this, this is the real deal. I'm not a serious sewer, but I've been looking for a good, reliable machine for general crafting. I have a old Singer sewing machine and I have to say that this is definitely going to replace my Singer because: a) it's much easier to use; b) it runs smoothly; c) it takes up a lot less space; and d) I am a huge fan of Hello Kitty! Like other reviewers, I would recommend replacing the plastic bobbins that come with the machine with metal ones. I'm sure there are better machines out there, but you just can't beat what this delivers at this price!

I read the reviews. I kicked myself and I bought this machine. For a beginner it is easy to use just read the manual. I wouldn't give it up now .

After reading several reviews and checking out several models, I decided on the Hello Kitty sewing machine. Right out of the box, I was able to set it up and start sewing. I'm a beginner with sewing machines and I love it. It's very smooth and quiet and performs very well. It sews through both thick and thin fabrics fantastic. It has simple controls and easy to understand instructions. I would definitely recommend this sewing machine for beginner sewers.

As others have written here, the Hello Kitty Sewing Machine is a well-made, durable product that runs quietly. It is perfect for beginners, not simply children, or for those who do light, basic sewing basic projects or scrapbooking. It can even be used by more advanced sewers as a backup machine or a portable machine.

I also did not like that the machine only came with plastic bobbins, and I would have liked a carrying case or a case of some sort. It is not as portable or light as the Blue Hello Kitty machine, because it is a 3/4 sewing machine (rather than the 1/2 sized Blue Hello Kitty Machine). The blue machine is an excellent product, but with fewer stitching options, no buttonhole capabilities, and slower stitching speed. However, it can be moved easily.

This little machine exceeded my expectations! It is cute and compact, but fully functional...best of all, it runs quietly!! (my old Brothers made a racket.) It is well made by Janome, a huge name in sewing machines, and is a grab at this price! I bought it after reading the other 3 reviews, and I'm definitely recommending it to anyone looking for a basic sewing machine that will get the job done!! Comes also with a 5-year limited warranty from Janome.

This machine is definately NOT a kid's toy. He is made by a namebrand company (Janome) and works very well. It is on the small side though, but construction quality is good. Must invest in metal bobbins though as the plastic ones included messed up the machine (easily fixed though). Also, the reason I gave it only 4 stars instead of 5 other than the bobbin issue, is that it does not include a case for the machine, rather, only a dust cover. It would have been nice having something more protective.
