i've been sewing for over 40 years and bought this for my 20-yr-old daughter's birthday as an incentive to finally get her sewing! i tried it out first and absolutely love it as a durable, easy to use, quiet, smooth-running machine. I totally agree with lst reviewer: definately not a toy!

i'm not sure about the blue model, but this green model is definately a good basic sewing machine. it does exactly what a machine in this price range should do and offer. nothing fancy except the hello kitty all over it. it's light but has metal sewing componets, the real deal. it sews very well with a blindhem stich and zigzags. for hemming clothes and light home decorating, this machine even surpised my mom who is an avid sewer. she was impressed with it. we tested it on curtain canvas material, double layer and after some adjusting of tension, it worked perfectly. if you want to teach your kids how to sew the right way or need a simple machine and love hello kitty, this is worth your money. too bad the bobbins were plastic, but that's an easy fix.
