Great coffeemaker, some limitations

I recently purchased the B40. Works very well and the K-cups are made with high quality coffee. There is, however, a limitation I wish I was aware of prior to my purchase. The B40 only makes a 7.25 oz cup. This coffee is geared to the "average" american coffee drinker and is too weak for someone used to drinking starbucks or other more "concentrated" brews. The B50 offers a 5.25 oz brew option which would have better suited me. If you like "regular", relatively weak american coffee, this truly makes the perfect cup. Otherwise, get the B50 for 50 dollars more. Second piece of advice: When I made coffee with tap water, it had a bad after taste - likely from the chlorine(B40 doesn't have a charcoal filter). After I started using water from my fridge door (fridge with a PUR charcoal filter), the coffee taste improved significantly.

My husband and I love this coffee maker! It consistently makes a PERFECT cup of coffee! Unlike other coffee makers which use a pot that sits on a hotplate too long and can create a burnt taste, the Keurig creates a fresh, consistently delicious cup of coffee without any waste! (Come on now, be honest...how many pots of coffee have you poured down the drain because it either sat too long and burnt, wasn't measured perfectly to your taste, or you brewed too much?) The only problem I have with the Keurig is that I'm now drinking MORE coffee than I used to...it's so quick, easy, and consistently brewed, never a bad cup! Amazingly, it doesn't spatter at all when it pours into your mug! Although the individual K-Cups may seem pricey, but they are convenient and the reason every cup comes out perfect. If you want to save money, or simply want to use your own favorite brand of coffee, Keurig also makes a single re-usable coffee filter called "My K-Cup" for around $15. In the long run it will save you money since you can buy your favorite brand of coffee on sale in the supermarket, or like me, a really BIG BAG of coffee at my favorite "Club/Warehouse" store! You will not be disappointed in this product!!!

We bought the B40 at Target about 6 months ago and have loved every cup of coffee since! Much to our dismay it started acting funny two days ago and completely shut down today. I called Keurig and they diagnosed the problem and are sending a replacement at no charge! I don't even have to send the entire machine in, just the k-cup holder part. Nor did I have to fumble around to find the receipt. Agents were very professional and courteous! Excellent service and an excellent product. Love it!

My husband and I purchased this coffee maker for a few reasons:
#1. To save money - coffee EVERY morning from a coffee shop gets expensive.
#2. We're moving into our first home and it's a few blocks from my work. And - there's no coffee shops close by. I need my coffee in the morning.
#3. They have this same coffee machine at my husband's place of employment and he raved about how it makes great coffee - FAST.
So, last weekend we purchased this model and we absolutely LOVE IT! It makes coffee in litereally 30-40 seconds! And - the taste is just as good if not BETTER than the coffee I've been paying $3.00-$4.00+ a cup for - every morning. Plus, you can make it exactly the way that you want it. I googled recipes for coffee shop lattes and iced coffee made at home. I found great recipes and love the convenience of making in under a minute the way I want it for a fraction of the cost. It's ABSOLUTELY worth every penny!!!
Oh, and and as far as it being noisy, it's alittle loud/vibrates when it begins filling up to make a cup of coffee but that lasts only a few seconds. And - I found quite a few coffee/tea/cocoa varieties [...].
A few tips: Try putting coffee shop syrup in the coffee. We got a large bottle [...] for $5.00. And - for iced coffee, I also use liquid coffee creamer. It's makes the coffee soooo creamy and rich.

The single serve machine of choice!

I've had this baby for a few weeks already and it really rocks. The big advantage for us is that our family memebrs get up at different times and now everybody can have a fresh cup of coffee. The biggest reason that I chose the Keurig instead of a pod system is that the company offers a product called "My K-cup" which enables you to use the fresh-ground coffee of your choice. I grind Starbucks every night and fill up 4 or 5 tiny filter baskets-- that way, they're ready to go first thing in the morning. And the coffee really tastes robust and super-fresh, even when compared to an autodrip (I'm not sure why... maybe because the Keurig pressure forces the hot water though the coffee).
I also use some commercially packaged K-cups-- available from Green Mountain, Timothy's, Gloria Jean's... and later this month from Tully's (a well regarded West Coast roaster). The K-cups are designed to stay fresh longer than most coffee pods (unless the pods come individually and hermetically sealed, which few do).
With the My K-cup kits, you can pack enough coffee to produce 1.5 Keurig servings, which is a normal sized mug. The B40 produces just a 7 oz. serving as standard, which is actually just 2/3's of what I'd like to see in a mug. But it's a simple matter to press the button again, and remove the mug halfway thru the second cycle (but be sure to have an empty cup of glass handy to catch the rest of the cycle!).

Mine just caught on fire!!

I loved this coffee maker when I got it for Christmas 2007. I joined a coffee club and my k-cups were soon filling up my pantry closet. I loved it so much that I bought one for my daughter and her husband. Theirs stopped working altogether 8 months after they got it. Mine started acting up after 9 months, taking 10 minutes between brews for the water to heat up for the next cup. (Certainly not ideal when you have company.) I de-scaled, as instructed, and took very good care of the machine. But this morning, after it was done brewing a cup of coffee, I heard a loud "pop" and turned around to see flames shooting up behind it. The fire was out quickly, and no real damage was done, aside from a blown circuit breaker and outlet. The machine, however, is toast - after less than one year of use.
Whie the machine was working, I thought the coffee was above average. But the reliabilty of this model is poor, and the workmanship VERY questionable. I doubt I'll be replacing this with another Keurig.

I have tried many different types of coffee makers in my time and have found the BEST OF ALL in this Keurig B50! Depending on what type of coffee you want at the moment, (mild to espresso, caffeinated or decaf, flavored or your own grind) you can have it all with this maker, no need for several appliances. If you have guests, you don't have to make several different pots and they can have their preference (they'll also love making their own with this fun machine) that processes the coffee so fast (in seconds). The clean-up is soo easy! Just toss the K-cup in the trash and maybe once a week you need to just rinse out the K-cup holder, otherwise there is none. You can purchase (if it didn't already come with your model) a separate holder with it's own filter basket so that you can use your own coffee (money saver)! If you don't turn it off for a while, then it also is instant hot water that you can make your own cup of tea or instant soup or hot chocolate. If you turn it off, it does take approx 2 minutes to heat up the water. It also has the ability to set the automatic on/off times. Since this single serve machine is based on the same principal as the office coffee makers that are on all day, you should use the full amount of water per cup as required by your model. If you interrupt the cycle, you will only get the difference with your next cup instead of a full version. You can remedy that by just running the next cup with no coffee and just toss that amount of water back into the water well or into the sink. My husband and I prefer different types of coffee and this has solved our problem, plus the coffee tastes so much richer and fuller, even our own blend that we sometimes use!! I just don't see any downside to this coffee/beverage maker! (No, I am not a sales rep for this or any company, just thoroughly pleased with this purchase). [...]

I originally got one of these [and]when it pooped out (after two and 1/2 years of CONSTANT usage), I was so upset that I had to wait to order a new one! On a fluke, we checked Target, and hoorah! you had it! I live for my coffee, even bring this on vacation. Starbucks doesn't even come close. Highly recommend this brewer [...]!!! We usually brew at least 4 cups of coffee a day with this baby, and it always delivers! My husband absolutely raves about his Keurig coffee!! Other family members have purchased other single cup brewers and they were junk. We have NEVER had a problem with this! Enjoy!

My husband bought me this machine for Mother's Day May 2007 and here it is Jan. 2008 and it is as good as new and makes wonderful coffee! The coffee paks are so convvenient but the mesh filter is great for when I want to brew my own special blend. I love this machine so much that I bought one for my coffee fanatic Mother-In-Law for Christmas and she has thoroughly enjoyed it as well. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT... YOU WON'T REGRET PURCHASING IT!
