I purchased this assuming I would receive everything shown in the picture but only received the TOP. The bookcases do not come with this and cost $400 ($200 each). This fact is noted in the product description but I still do not like the way the product was presented.

It is very annoying that the bookcases, as shown in the picture, do not come with the table top. Who would order a plain table top? The whole thing ended up being incredible expensive, and time consuming, once I realized I had to go back and order the bookcases. I could not afford to send baack the table top once I realized it was not a set.

I ordered desks from the "high end" company and wanted the matching project table. When I discovered the high end company's table was to be on backorder for two months I started to shopped around. I found this table to be very similar. I knew Target had a great return policy so we took the leap and ordered it. We feared the quality wouldn't even compare. I am glad to say were we wrong. This is a great project table for the money. It blends beautifully with the other furniture in the room. Very solid and has a quality paint job. The top came cracked (no fault of Target's it was damaged in shipping). I called customer service and they immediately shipped out a replacement. Thanks for the excellent customer service Target.

The most difficult part of the assembly, for me, was actually unpacking all the pieces. There was so much packing material between the two bookcases and this accompanying table top, I now have a huge 5ft. tall mountain of cardboard and foam wrap in my living room. (Thank goodness recycle pick up is in two days). The peices were wound in both foam wrap and cardboard, and then they were packed in an additional cardboard box.

Once I had unpacked all the parts the assembly was very quick, about 15 minutes. It would have been quicker if I the instructions had been more clear; the bolts go in from the bookcase side, not through the underside of the table-top. I did need a second person to place this on top the book cases, and the bookcases need to be closer than the 30" specified in the instructions.

Unlike the bookcases, my table top was blemish-free, thus it earned 5 stars.

The smooth black color is very nice and blends surprisingly well with the rest of my furniture, which is espresso, not black.

The total height of the finished craft table was taller than I expected. I can actually kneel underneath completely and the top doesn't even touch my head! I plan to use this for everything - ironing, sewing, wrapping presents, grooming my dog, framing pictures, etc. I have a small box overturned on the floor to place the pedal for my sewing machine, due to the elevated height.

LOVE this table and book shelf set. Of course you need to read the item description, where it clearly stated book shelves and tabletop sold separately. Easy to put together though a bit heavy for one person. The size is great to spread out and scrapbook, sew, wrap christmas presents, or whatever you need.

After coveting a similar table from a high end catalog, I was so pleased to find this online for a fraction of the price! The table top and shelves arrived very quickly and were easy to assemble. I assembled the entire table in about an hour. The finished table looks great and has a lot of storage. I would highly recommend having two people to put the table top on. I did this myself and ended up knocking one of the shelves over--and I am very strong. The table top is very heavy and large!

For the price of this table is too expensive and its not worth it because the bookshelve are sold seperately in which you can get a decent craft table at a regular furniture store for more storage features.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this table. I am a scrapbooker and love the shelves on either side, plus the wide table top to spread everything out...put it together in about 2 hrs. Once I read other reviews I was sold!!

This is exactly what I wanted. I checked out the highend table for a bigger price+ and figured that black will be fine at half the price. Also there isn't as much guilt if it gets scratched. I admit that I had my handy husband put this together and all seemed easy. The 16.5" x 10 3/4" shelves fits my large photo storage boxes along with one 12x12 scrapbook storage box and a little room easily. The open space on top is sooo nice to work on any project. I have not a complaint!
