I love my CHI turbo. it's easy to travel with, doesn't hurt your hair and is used by professionals. It's a little pricey but it's worth every penny.

I have used inexpensive flat irons in the past and not been satisfied with the results. I did a lot of research before forking out the cash for the 1" CHI turbo and have had NO regrets. It takes about 10 seconds to heat fully and makes my hair smooth and shiny in 5 to 8 minutes. It could certainly be possible to burn a surface if you lay the CHI directly on it, but the 176-356 degree temperature potential is exactly what makes this flat iron so effective. I don't know why you would ever lay any flat iron on a carpet (one of the other reviewers said it burns her carpet). I set the hot end off the edge of my sink whenever it's on to avoid the possibility of burning the counter. (I guess they could add some sort of kick stand feature to make this an even better product than it already is.) My hair is wavy (not kinky curly) but I have a ton of it. I do not need to use the highest setting - I keep it at about 300, which is still hotter than it has to be for my hair, but then I can straighten all of my hair in about 5 minutes. I used to blow-dry with a round brush EVERY SINGLE DAY. Now, I just let my hair air-dry and use the CHI when I want it to look nice. The best part is, you can straighten after sleeping on it if you don't have time to (or don't want to) wash your hair in the morning. (Most hair dressers will tell you it's not good for your hair to be washed every day.) As it is an electronic item, it definitely requires gentle touch - you can't bang it around or drop it at all and still expect it to work forever. I store it in it's original box - I want to get maximum life out of it since I will be spending another $100+ to buy my next one whenever mine eventually dies.

My hair stylist always used the CHI on my hair. I had her get me one from her shop and I use it ALL the time! My daughter has extermely thick wavy hair and brushing it and straightening it was such a task. When I finally got my CHI I used it on her first! Her hair was so silky and smooth I almost cried. The CHI really does the job. I would recommend the CHI products to anybody....already have straight hair-This will give it that added shine, VERY curly hair-You will have the straightest hair ever!

The trick is to keep going over the same lock a couple times, then it gets straight. I received the CHI turbo iron a couple months ago. It still works fine. I was considering getting a normal CHI, and I still do. I used a normal CHI before purchasing mine and it had better results. Overall, the CHI is pretty good straightener. I use it every other day with a flat iron heat protectant spray from regis salon. The thing is, with thick, bushy hair like mine, its extremely hard to get silky thin smooth frizzless hair even with a CHI straightener.

I buy all kind of hair gadgets and I like to buy top of the line, so money is not an issue. This iron is great to the fact it heats up very quickly and you can control the temperature BUT sad to say I have a $50 iron I found at a salon sale and it's is not top of the line but when I compared the 2 the $50 was JUST AS great as this one, so sometimes the higher priced item is not always the best.

I was reluctant to spend the money for this one.My hair was a frizzy mess after I washed it and when I ran my Chi iron through it I was very pleased. My hair never looks right when I do it myself and for the 1st time I was very pleased!! It was worth every penny!!

I am a hairstylist and have had this exact CHI iron for several years and I couldn't live without it. It is amazing. I use it on myself and clients. To the person who said there are fake, they are mistaken. If any company has a salon in any of there stores they can sell salon products. I don't advise buying them there though. Mainly the products, you need the advice from a licensed cosmetologist. You never know what could work for your hair. The price is the same so why not stop in and ask about the product and buy it there.

I bought this in August 2008 and today December 2008 it wont' heat up. I did not use this daily and when I did use it, it was only on for 5 or 10 minutes tops. The quality is poor. If they could get this unit to last longer then I would have been impressed. I won't buy CHI again.

I was selling Chi that I bought from a beauty supply place I needed Farouk Chi permission to sell them on ebay, and I come to learn that the one's that they sell at Target are FAKE and they are trying there hardest to get them off the shelf...They are great FAKES and they work great somtimes, but if you want a cheap FAKES CHI got to Target if you want a real on go to a beauty salon!
