i've been going back and forth for quite some time on whether i should hire someone to clean my carpets, if i should rent a cleaner, or if i should purchase a cleaner. after doing a bit of research for the past couple of months, i decided on the latter. i found a few carpet cleaners and narrowed it down to a couple and finally decided on this product. i ordered it online and anticipated its arrival. when it finally did arrive (a couple of days earlier than its estimated delivery date), i was quite excited to put it all together and test it out. i chose to test it out on two areas - one which had a stain from a spill that set in to the carpet and the other in a high traffic area which is right at the front door. after a quick run over the carpet in the stained/soiled areas, i was amazed to see the difference. i could clearly see that the bissell carpet cleaner loosened the dirt and whatever else was built up in there and left the spots clean. i had purchased a number of cleaning solvents, brushes, etc. before to try to clean the carpet; however, all couldn't do the job that the bissell cleaner did. i didn't have to mix, rub, scour, scrub, spray a bunch of chemicals either. i just put the cleaner together, filled up the water tank and formula reservoir, and plugged it in. it was that easy!
investing in this carpet cleaner was a good choice because i can use it at my convenience without the hassel of calling a carpet cleaning company and scheduling a day/time for them to come out or having to rent one and go out to pick it up and then turn around and bring it back. also, i must mention another plus to this investment - not only does it clean carpets, it cleans floors as well. it'll be great to have around when i move into my brand new home next year which will have flooring and some carpet.

UNBELIEVABLE RESULTS

I must admit I was skeptical about this product Seemed to promise too much but to my surprise everything was as advertised. It definitely gets the job done. I have two kids and my oldest is 2 and a half. He's left cranapple juice along with every other nasty thing you can get on a carpet, on the carpet. Unfortunately I did not buy one earlier. If I did I am sure it would not have accumulated as it did. A few reviews I read have derogatory statements such as little sucking power, leaves carpet wet, too heavy. Don't replace the machine, replace the operator. Yes the carpet is damp, that's how this machine works. It has great sucking power. I sucked up 4 tanks of dirty water you can watch it go through the cycle on the front. As far as weight. I'm 6'4 265 pounds so it's a breeze. It's an awesome machine but you have to put some work in too you know. My wife tried it for 20 minutes. it's not so bad and if you do in fact have to struggle alitte bit, forget it, the results speak for themselves. Don't hesitate! The only one minor thing that could be improved is a water low level light. I'm sure if you get the next model, it will be equipped but I'm happy with my purchase. I saw a review that speaks of malfunctioning parts over a years time frame. My two cents-I'm a helicopter mechanic, I work on multi million dollar aircraft. My job exists because things break and consider wear and tear. I replace parts in the tens of thousands of dollars. It happens and if in a year's time frame I need to replace a belt thats fine with me. Motor goes out you have a warranty. Go for it!

I have used home carpet cleaners for maybe 10 years and have small children and pets. Honestly, I have been through TWO Bissells in a very short amount of time. The Proheat didn't last 6 months....Lots of cheap plastic parts. A friend has an older Hoover that is probably 20 years old and still going. I have borrowed it enough times to know that since I am in the market for another carpet cleaner--it won't be a Bissell again. It is true, you get what you pay for.

Good carpet cleaner--easy to use

I bought this cleaner at the store and immediately tried it out on the living room carpet. It was very easy to use--I like how the soap and water are in separate compartments. The water heater works well. I used the "normal cleaningJ" function on my carpet, and it used the entire trial size bottle of soap in one room, so I switched to "light cleaning" for my other rooms. It saved soap and still got the carpets very clean. I did have trouble with the "water rinse" at times. It would spray soap only. I figured out that when you put the handle in the upright position to move the machine to a different location when the dirty water tank becomes close to full, you get a clicking sound. That means you have lost connection/suction to the water tank and if you spray, you will only get soap. I had to empty the tank 3 or 4 times for a small bedroom, but it was worth it. I haven't tried the attachment or hard floor function yet. It is also easy to rinse when you're done.Overall, good machine. I'm glad I bought it and I hope it lasts.

I just finished cleaning the stairs and one room with my new cleaner. I'm reasonably happy with the job it did. Sucked up a LOT of dirt-- and a LOT of fuzz from the carpet that clogged up the works. (The carpet is three years old and has been professionally cleaned once.) Did a pretty decent job of extracting the water, as the stairs are almost dry.
My biggest complaint-- the dial that controls how much solution is used is in a really inconvenient place. It's underneath the handle. It's fine when you're cleaning the floors, but to change the dial when you're using the attachments, you have to put the handle down, turn the dial, and then put the handle back up again. Nuisance.
It would be nice if the water tank was bigger. I really like the separate solution tank. You can tailor how much solution you use to the specific area of the carpet.
It was reasonably easy to take apart to clean it before storage. I'm sure it doesn't work as well as a truck mounted professional job, but that was $350. This was $180, with my 10% off day. I'd say this was money well spent, and I would recommend this machine.

I'm really happy with this cleaner. My new puppy all but destroyed my fairly new light beige carpet. I cleaned it last night and it is beautiful: not one spot left. (Note: I used the enclosed pre-wash spray cleaner on the big spots before shampooing.) The scrubbing brushes are serious! Even though I vacuumed before shampooing, the brushes dug out a ton of pet hair. Two features I like: the solution container is separate so you don't have to mix it in the water each time - less waste! The attached hose and brush worked great on upholstery. Not wimpy like I expected. I thought the clean water bladder inside the dirty water tank was very weird but it works well and is easy to fill and empty. The unit had to be put together with a Phillips head screw driver and a few screws but that presented no problem even with my limited skills in that area.

I bought this after borrowing one from a friend. Both times I used it (both her old one and this new one) I got TONS of pet hair and lint off the floor (even though I vacuumed first). I had to empty the water twice while cleaning my tiny 800 square foot apartment. When you see the nasty brown/gray water that comes out of this thing, you know you NEED it! Only complaint is that the solution tank is small, so I had to refill it during cleaning. Also I used half a bottle of cleaner, but that could be fixed by adjusting the settings (heavy vs light cleaning- I used the middle setting for everything). All in all it worked awesome, my carpet is a whole different color. It got out set-in pet stains from several weeks ago, you can't even tell I have a naughty little puppy anymore. Great product and great price!

I bought this cleaner after my puppy decided to make the dining room his bathroom. It works perfectly! It got up almost all the set-in pet stains that were all over the carpet (4-5 months old). I have light cream, almost white carpets and they look new again! It was very easy to set up, operate and clean. My carpet was almost dry shortly after I used the machine. The only complaint I have is that it used ALOT of cleaner... my small dining room used about half the $12 bottle. A small price to pay for professional results at my convienience. I would highly recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to deal with the hassle of a professional.

vacuum works great for cleaning. Unfortunately one of the belts broke after less than 2 months and no stores carry the replacement belt. Makes it hard to clean when you want to if you need to order the belt online direct from bissell.
