great unit!! April 16, 2008 Reviewer:  Happy student (Chicago, IL)  See all my reviews >

After a great experience with Sunpentown's portable air conditioner, I decided to try this air cooler.

It really works!! the air coming out is very cold air! I love it to put it right next to me when I do my work. Although it is a little troublesome having to fill water and exchange ice packs, it is really worth it. It's like a air conditioner for people who don't have lots of money.

It really works!!! February 15, 2008 Reviewer:  Contractor (Phoenix, AZ)  See all my reviews >

This evaporative cooler actually works well as claimed. I live in 2-story house where the summer heat and electricity bills are unbelievably high. This really makes a difference beating the heat and my bills. This is not an air conditioner and therefore uses much less energy. It came with two metallic Quick-Freeze ice packs for added cooling efficiency in case you run out of ice.

Awful! September 6, 2007 Reviewer:  Jay Street "Jason" (Brooklyn, NY, USA)  See all my reviews >

Does not cool the air at all. A complete waste of money. Don't even consider replacing an air conditioner with this item. A glorified fan is all it is.

Swamp Cooler BUST July 26, 2009 Reviewer:  Skids "Justin S" (Rochester, NY)  See all my reviews >

I just want to get across to you that this product in no way shape or form an air conditioner or even a fan for that matter. I would describe it as an air mover.

There are so many problems with the air cooler that I can't even figure out where to start...

1. there's no consistent air flow with the fan. it'll blow for 10 seconds then stop. In an oscillating pattern

2. the only way to really cool the air is to add massive amounts of ice to the water pan. this will cool about one square foot of space. no joke

3. once you had the ice and begin cooling your 1 square footage of space, you'll begin to notice the air cooling system is leaking. well it's not exactly leaking any water. the problem is the cold water your adding to the pan is not isolated, therefore the cold water creates condensation, which causes the cooling system to drip all over the floor.

So now you have a dripping, oscillating fan that's able to cool your closet space. after about an hour, you'll have to drain the room temperature water and add more ice water. this alone will take up 15 minutes of your time. now if you forget this very important 15 minute step, ever hour by the hour, your once air cooler, will quickly become a SWAMP COOLER or HUMIDIFIER. now any sensible person knows that there's nothing worse than humid warm air. What I'm trying to say here is that the water sitting in the pan at the base of the fan, raises the humidity of your room. Basically the room your trying to cool becomes a room that is still warm, but now warm and sticky with a puddle on your floor.

let me save you a huge hassle of buying and then returning this product, and just go ahead and NOT buy this product. you'll thank me later

If you want an expensive, loud fan, this is the one for you July 21, 2008 Reviewer:  J. Clairmont "Penguin Master" Real Name (San Diego)  See all my reviews >

-First off, the directions for this unit are confusing/terrible.
-Secondly, you are advised to fill this thing with 7 liters of water, which is to be poured into a drain opening that is about the size of the diameter of a sharpie, so it takes a little under 20 minutes to do with out an oil funnel. (silly me for not having one in my kitchen)
-Third, the fan on this thing is no quieter than a weed whacker stirring a shallow puddle of Jell-O.
-Fourth, who ever said this 'cools' the air that comes out of it, must have filled this with ice water and had re-newable ice packs that could keep the water just above freezing or has very poor blood circulation, b/c the out put air was not much cooler than the box fan that i traded this for.
-Fifth, I would advise just buying two $40 fans

Niche Product June 12, 2008 Reviewer:  hothead See all my reviews >

If you live in Nevada or the SoCal desert these units are a godsend, cheap and remarkable efficient. Here in Tucson they're nearly as effective as a/c (at least until the monsoons). As long as the temperature is < 100 AND humidity < 20%, 5 stars. Anything else, 1 star. One suggestion, the cooling pad--the thing that looks like a fishnet stocking-- is totally ineffective. Toss it out and replace it with a $6 trimmed cooling pad for full size units, you can get them from your local h/w store (the 1" thick blue one fits and works great!).

Does show it's value June 11, 2009 Reviewer:  Happy Buyer (Paradise Valley, AZ)  See all my reviews >

I wish I had bought this Air Cooler sooner. This Air cooler is a great way to keep cool and is less expensive to run. It has a motor that runs on 60W of cooling power. The 7 liter tank is easy to fill it up from the big opening on the side. It only weighs 17lbs so that you can easily maneuver it around your home.
Always remember this, make sure that a window is open while the Evaporative cooler is in use. This unit works effectively when the humidity level in your room is low. Add as much ice as possible.

The Worst Excuse for an Air Conditioner August 11, 2009 Reviewer:  Still Too Hot "Cristin M" (Philadelphia)  See all my reviews >

This was my worst impulse buy of all time. This "Swamp Cooler" blows warm air around. Even if you add ice (?) like the instructions call for, there is still no cool air flowing. I wouldn't even call it a fan. The power settings are unbelievably weak.

Worst buy of all time. Thank god I can return it.
