The lamp that was sent to me had a very unstable base. The problem is that there is a bolt holding the post to the base that extends below the bottom of the base. So the lamp wobbles badly on the table. Very poor workmanship. I wouldn't mind so much if I could return this for free, but the return postage is nearly the cost of the lamp! I suppose Target knows if they send you junk like this, there is no way you're going to pay to return it. I'll sell mine at a yard sale, and buy lamps and things at a higher quality store.

I like this lamp. Usually desk lamps are all black or all silver but this one was perfect to match the other white lampshades I have in my room,. It looks like glass even though its plastic. And as for the previous reviewer, the items can be returned to your local Target, not just through the mail.

I bought this lamp two years ago as a desk lamp for college and just bought another to use as a bedside lamp. It's very bright (but warm!) and adjustable, and many of my friends have complimented it as simple and sleek. Great value and a great take on the standard green banker's lamp.

This Lamp I just received a few days ago. It is what i was looking for. There are a few things you should know.
It says to use a 60watt light bulb..DON'T--- the shade which is plastic gets very hot..in just a few minutes.. I found using an energy light that is equivlent to a 60watt is much better. Same lighting, and the shade keeps warm, not hot to the touch. The other thing I really don't like, but is not a big issue, is, you have to pull the chain straight down or lamp will tip over. don't pull it toward you than down.. mistake, but since it does not have a glass shade it won't break, trust me. over all,I like the lamp. the price is right, and the lighting is very good for you desk. looks good on my black computer desk.
Putting it together was a breeze.. Just take caution with the 60 watt regular bulb.. It gets very, very hot..

I got this lamp for a temp job where the lighting was poor. I figured how could I go wrong. I was right - it gave a cozy warm glow to my desk and everyone in the office liked it. No, it isn't the best ever but for the price it does the trick quite nicely.

I somehow overlooked the fact that this lamp has a plastic shade. I could not stand the irony of a "banker's lamp" having a plastic shade. it looked cheap. I guess for the money its a ok deal. just not what I had in mind.
