I bought this because it was the most realistic looking one I had seen for toddlers (at the time), it got good reviews, the price was right and I loved the idea of the recorded message. It also comes in neat colors. Unfortunately the record button is right where your childs hand goes when they hold the phone. My daughter kept deleting the message. However, she did love the sounds it played. The quality is good. It has held up.

I found this phone at Target and thought it would be great for my 14 month old son. He loves cell phones and this looked very similar to "mommy's". He loved it. He would press the play button and listen to my message. He would walk around the house "talking" on his phone. The problem...it didn't last long. It doesn't work and it has only been 3 weeks since I purchased it. He didn't mistreat it. He may have dropped it a couple of times, but it is made for toddlers and should be able to stand up to the pressure. It should be made better.

I have a hard time finding toys that engage my 15 m/o son, but man does this one do the job. This is one of the first toys he reaches for in the morning. He loves to press the buttons and hear messages from daddy when he's away. When I get a phone call, he goes to find his phone so he can talk as well.
I agree that kids will inevitably accidentally erase the message, but I actually think this might be by design. Then when they get a bit older they can record their own. Even with this annoyance, it's a fabulous phone!

My son was obsessed with my cellphone and would throw a fit anytime he saw me on it. So I picked this up at my local target and was quite surprised that it greatly eliminated my son's desire to have my phone. For the first few weeks he had it he was always carrying it around..and ever so occasionally tossing it across the room. So far it hasn't hurt the phone at all. (and we have wood floors) The only time he's not playing with it is when he loses it. Currently I think it might be under the couch....
Still, its a great little toy and my son loves it. We use it to distract him from our phones. The recordable message is convenient for us because my father recorded something and now every time he throws a fit that his grandfather leaves, we play it to distract him.

After playing with this phone for like a half hour the play button no longer worked and then the phone would not come on altogether. The next morning it worked again for an hour and went of altogether (again). The play button - to hear the voice recorded "I love you" - never did work again after the first day. My daughter still loves it but its not as much fun if it doesn't ring and light up.
