Ups and Downs of the Crosley CR66 May 11, 2008 Reviewer:  Consumer (Omaha, NE)  See all my reviews >

I purchased the Crosley CR66, because I have a similar retro system, by another manufacturer, but that system's CD player did not play one of the newer formats, when a friend burned a disc for me, from his computer. The Crosley CR66 did play the newer format, and that sold me on the system. Also, the Crosley looks great, and sounds pretty good, especially its CD player. I am not fond of the FF-only cassette deck, as it has no rewind. The cassette deck also does not record; in fact, none of these type of systems, that I have seen, by any manufacturer, have cassette decks that rewind or record. The only place where I really think this Crosley system fails is in its turntable. You have to gingerly wedge LPs into place, as the tone arm rest juts out over the turntable. Also, you have to move the tone arm to the right, to start the player. Plus, there is no device to cue the needle, and no record return. (My other system has these features.) Hence, one must be extremely careful when playing a record, because it's easy to accidentally drop the needle on the record. Overall, the Crosley CR66 is not a bad system for the price, and in comparison to other systems, the idiosyncracies of the turntable are the biggest drawback. Conversely, the radio and CD players function well, and sound great. The look is also very stylishly retro, and the sound is warm and inviting.

great May 24, 2007 Reviewer:  cyoo85 See all my reviews >

great buy. I bought this for my boyfriend and he loved it. people who like to load up their play lists(a.k.a lazy people who don't want to get up constantly to switch out records)should just invest and get one of the stack-o-matics.

Just listen to the music. August 11, 2008 Reviewer:  L. Jensen Real Name (Salem, Oregon)  See all my reviews >

Well, it all seems a little bit "fragile" but not super cheap. Has a nice wood look to it. Is it real wood? Should be... I used to have a $5,000 stereo years ago but now I listen to the music 100% and not the stereo!

Every part used in this player is pretty much the cheapest available, but for the asking price you really can't complain. The CD player has a surprisingly warm sound but am sure that was not intentional. (Norah Jones sounds fabulous.) Turntable has more treble and is a little "harsher". Bass is decent on everything.

Tape player was an added bonus as I have several tapes I have not heard in ages. Just treat it carefully, especially the turntable(!) and it should last for years. Plus, it also looks great in a living room instead of a high-tech Sony...

I love it! July 10, 2008 Reviewer:  Country Girl (Upstate N.Y.)  See all my reviews >

If you think this is the only stereo you can have in your house, you're wrong. This is more like a decoration that can play music, too. But I only play my old Elvis albums on it and at pretty low volumes so I don't blow the speakers and render it useless.
Based upon the price, it's mostly supposed to be one of those novelty things that are cool to have, but not as your only stereo system. I got it only to play my albums on, and rarely ever even do that. So it looks cool in our hosue and people compliment us on it a lot.
Definitely get one of the stands that goes with it to place it on, too.

Awesome! March 15, 2008 Reviewer:  katerup7 See all my reviews >

I recently bought this item and I love it. It sounds great with all the 33 1/3s I have, the radio works well and the CD player is very nice. I have no need to use the cassette player so I'm not sure how well it works, but I'm sure it's just as good as everything else is.

OKAY. YOU CAN REWIND THE TAPES. May 10, 2009 Reviewer:  Smart one "Abby S" (China)  See all my reviews >

Everyone is complaining how you can't rewind the tapes. Yes you can. Obviously you haven't tried everything because all you have to do is press the tape players eject button halfway in and hold it.

Bam, rewind.

On the Crosley CR66 Record/CD/cassette tape player, you CAN REWIND!
People need to stop complaining and figure it out!
All you do is press the tape players eject button halfway in and hold it until you're back to the spot you wanted!

THAT IS HOW YOU REWIND!
IDIOTO AMERICANAS!
Try harder than just looking, actualy move it around or press buttons.
HAVEN'T ANY OF YOU HEARD OF TRIAL AND ERROR!?!?!?

IDIOTO!
This is so frustrating to see all of the idiots that complain about it and you realize that they obviously have not tried everything.

Common sense, one of the most important things you need in life. Obviously a lot of you are going to have a hard time.

Pretty, shiny turd. December 30, 2007 Reviewer:  Misha (Pasadena, CA)  See all my reviews >

I've wanted this player for a while now and I was excited to get one for Christmas. When I turned it on, I found that the CD player worked well, but that's about it.

- The radio dial looks cool but is difficult to read, and it's hard to dial in stations on either end of the spectrum.

- The tape player doesn't have buttons. It has no FF, RW, Pause or Stop functions; it plays when you push the tape in, and you have to eject it to stop. Lame.

- The turntable didn't work. When I set the dial to "phono," the needle sounded like it was live, but the table wouldn't rotate. I was really disappointed about it, and then read some reviews and found that it was a common problem for Crosley products. Super lame.

So, all in all it's a really pretty piece of [junk].

Good player for the price. February 14, 2008 Reviewer:  trasu98 (New York)  See all my reviews >

I wanted a record player for while and finally decided to get this one at Target when it was on sale.

Overall, I think it works very good. Old records play perfectly on it, however I have found that newer ones have a tendency to skip a lot when played on this machine. I'm not sure if they just aren't worn in enough or what, but that's been my only problem.

The sound quality is good, not great...but this isn't a high end machine either. I haven't had any issues with the cd player, radio or tape deck.

My old records sound great! January 21, 2008 Reviewer:  Megan Kelley Real Name See all my reviews >

I received this record player for Christmas after wanting one for quite a while. I was extrememly pleased with the quality and my son has enjoyed listening to some of my old records that I listened to as a kid. I would have preferred another color option, but other than that, I would say that this is an awesome product!

It worked great until it suddenly didn't... April 22, 2009 Reviewer:  RMWJargon (Bakersfield, Ca United States)  See all my reviews >

I received this as a Christmas present this past Christmas and I loved it for a while. The sound was decent and it worked great.

However, I went to turn it on today and it absolutely does not work. No power. Nothing. I tried several different outlets thinking maybe that was the problem. Nope.

It just stopped working and I can't do anything about it except buy a new one and hope that one works longer than a few months.

I can't return it as I don't have the box anymore and we don't have a receipt and it was paid for in cash.
