i bought the dyson 17 animal this past weekend at target in medford, or. WOW! i have 2 cats and 2 dogs and thought my house was clean. WRONG! as i vacuumed my "clean floors" i had to kept having to empty the canister, with piles of dust and hair from my carpets. this vacuum suprised me, even after all i had heard. it is easy to use. i call it my cadilac vacuum. its worth every dollar.

My husband and I realized that our 10 year old Oreck vac had seen its better days and we were stuck as far as what vacuum to buy. We decided to invest in this because we have two cats that love to shed, and wow was it a good idea. Instead of wasting your money on a cheap vac that's going to last maybe a year, invest in this, and I can already tell it's going to last a really long time. My husband was skeptical at first because of the price, but his mind was totally changed after we took it home and started vacuuming. It certainly does suck! The amount of pet hair, dust, dirt, etc that has come up is unbelievable. Buy this for sure, it's amazing.

When my Hoover Wind Tunnel finally bit the dust, I said my next vacuum would be a Dyson. I am sorry I had to wait so long :(

This is by far the best vacuum I have ever used. I love everything about it. I have 1 dog & 3 cats and it handles all the hair without a problem. This vacuum makes me want to clean my house! Can anyone believe that??? It is easy to maneuver and the attachments are a breeze to use. It's simplicity in design is what makes it so unique.

I have told all my friends about the Dyson and many of them have purchased one after I showed them what mine can do! It is worth every penny. Dyson sucks in a good way!

I have always suffered from sneezing and feeling awful after vaccuming our house. I had to plead for my Fiance to get this for us. It is very expensive, but it is definitely worth every cent. I do not sneeze nor feel sick after vaccuming. We also recently adopted another dog, but my Dyson was ready for it. Since it is bagless you need to clean the chamber after you are finished, but a damp soft cloth does the trick. I did try the matress test. I vaccumed our matress with our old vaccum and then with my dyson. It was disgusting!! I was so offended that we had been sleeping on this filth, I even purchased a matress cover as soon as we got our new one. If you can afford it, it's worth it!

I guess I had really high hopes for this vacuum that no vacuum will probably ever meet. Basically I wanted a miracle worker. I have a 14 month old and 2 dogs and I hoped it would make my carpet look like we barely walk on it. But I can't keep up with the constant traffic and it doesn't completely clean all the dog hair from from the carpet (though it gets close.) Aside from working miracles, it does a really good job. Sometimes the canister needs extra cleaning but you're going to get that issue anywhere. Nothings impervious to little extra cleanings here and there. All my friends who have Dyson swear by them and I've never heard anything bad about them. I like mine and am pleased but if anyone knows of a miracle vacuum that won't break the bank, let me know.

I bought this vacuum when target was giving out $100 gift cards and was very reluctant. I have a labradoodle and she is very hairy. This vacuum gets everything. It is bulky but you get three or more attachments that help you get into tight spots and now they make one on a ball for easier handling. The best thing about this vacuum is the customer service. I read a bad review about their customer service but we called because we were having problems with stuff getting stuck in the tiny holes of the turbine. Dyson sent a new turbine and the bottom piece free of charge! They were polite and we received the parts in a few days. If you have pets pay the money and get this vacuum. It is definately worth the money.

At first, I did not want to buy this vacuum--too expensive. Then I recieved a rug as a birthday present and wouldn't you know it--the rug started to shed like mad! I love my new rug so off I went to read the review about the Animal. Everyone said so many great things about it that I had to try it. I bought it this morning! I vacuumed my birthday present (the wool rug)and all the shedding wool came off. Then I vacuumed my others rugs and they started to look new. The rugs were so dirty, even though I vacuum twice a week, that as I vacuumed with the Animal my rugs literally changed colors!! I love this thing!! I have never seen my house so clean. I would recommend this to everyone. I know it's expensive but there are some coupons out there that will help. I paid $440.

I just bought this vacuum as a replacement for a Kenmore I had for only a year and a half and is already shot. We have three cats and a rabbit so there is fur everywhere in our apartment. On the first vacuum I filled the whole canister with fur and dirt, and our apartment is only 700 square feet. My area rug hasn't looked this clean since we first bought it!

The attachments are pretty good and easy to use, and the hose is really easy to get out. Going from carpet to hard floors was easy as well, and it did a great job picking up cat litter on the hard floors -- no spraying it out the back! It was a little weird to use at first because the handle was so much higher up than my last vacuum but I think I'll live :) It's also a lot quieter than my last vacuum (it took my cats a full minute before they ran). All in all I think it was a great buy.

I purchased the Animal 17 with accessories at the beginning of this month. I just received it two days ago and am I happy with it. [...] I first put it together and tried taking the parts on and off. Very easy to do. I then vacumned our condo's wall to wall thick carpet with it and was amazed at all the dust, dirt, and baby powder it picked up. Very easy to maneuver and empty. All parts fit well and look sturdy. Great suction. It cleans as well as a Kirby without the weight and adjustments for carpet height and NO! Belts. I used to sell Kirbys. I like the Dyson Better. I've retired our 17 year old Electrolux Upright to my nephew for his college room. Our 10 year old carpet is all fluffed up again like new under our bare feet. I wanted a vacumn that would vacumn thoroughly and keep the carpet fluffed up. I have allergies, so the Dyson fulfills all my needs. For those of you that have problems with the wand being too long in some cases... I think the accessories will fit directly onto the hose. At least that's what it looks like in the owners manual. Haven't tried that yet. Still enjoying regular vacumning. I purchased the Animal 17 because it was the top of the line and came with a lot of accessories before I ordered the additional ones as an accessory package. If you have a lot of carpet, this is the machine for you. I got tired of my other vacumn cleaner losing suction when the bag was half full. I want to get one for my sister. She has pets and teenage boys and goes through vacumn cleaners at least one a year. I think the Dyson will stop her from doing that. Glad Mr. Dyson invented a vacumn cleaner that really works at a reasonable price. [...]

I was very skeptical about spending this much money on a vacum but I am glad I did. We have a dog and a cat that both shed pretty well. Our old vacum seemed to be doing ok but I got tired of changing bags all the time. I bought the DC17 Animal at Target and took it home. As a test I vacumed with my old vacum first and then with the dyson. I COULDN'T BELIVE HOW MUCH MORE IT PICKED UP! My wife and I both love it and will never use any other kind of vacum.
