I have been saving for this vaccum for probably a year, I have a Siberian Husky and a cat. I just got it last night and stayed up just to use it! I had wonderful results! I got 2 canisters from my carpet that I had just vaccumed with my dirt devil and 1 canister from my furniture. Truly amazing and well worth the money. The only downfall is the directions aren't that great! It is so powerful it pulled my whole room rug right up off the floor! I am already looking forward to using it today. I now know my house will be cleaner for my whole family!

I bought this when we got a new house with lots of carpet and I have 3 himalayan cats. This vacuum was better than I though possible. I would reccommend this one to anyone with animals and lots of hair.

Hay Tamer

Virtually any vacuum can manage pet hair, but taming the hay that escapes from our guinea pig cages is a challenge that previous vacuums could not surmount. The Animal picks up the hay and bedding debris without losing suction. It is amazing. The only problem I've had with this vacuum (other than the painful price tag), is that it never loses suction... my kids and husband forget to empty it and just keep vacuuming and vacuuming until the canister is overfilled and I start jumping up and down.
I have hardwood floors, tile and large area rugs - not only is it simple to turn the beater bar on and off, but being able to pop out the wand to get into crevices, corners and under furniture as you go, makes vacuuming less of a chore.
This vacuum is worth every penny of its steep price tag.

My vacuum died while my husband was out of town for two weeks. I dediced to wait till he got back into town to buy a new one, in the mean time I borrowed my mom's brand new [vacuum], that she just got for her upstairs. I thought her's did a good job when I was finished vacuuming. The next day my husband came home and we went out and bought the Animal 17. After looking at all the ones the store had it was the best choice being we have 3 cats and I have asthma. We came home and he put it together. Once finished he decided to give it a "test drive". It was GROSS what it pulled up. We have a smaller 2 bedroom appartment and he had to dump the canister 4 times before he finished. As I stated before I had vacuumed with a brand new vacuume the day before that I had borrowed. We were both impressed. I found it so much easier to use and push than the borrowed or old vacuume we had. I haded vacuuming with those, but now I vacuume just because I like to use this vacuume!
Since then my husband had bought most of the attachments to go with it. The only one that we don't have is the Mattress tool, which we would like to get adventally. I do admit that the wand is a bit hard to use at first, but after you get used to it there's no problems with it. I also love the fact of the filter. With our old vacuum we were having to change it pretty much monthly when it was supposed to last 6 months. It would get clogged all the time. We've had no problems with this one.
My mom's down stairs vacuum just quit the other day. Their long haired cat can only be down stairs so his fur is all over the place. After her borrowing my Dyson she's now wanting to buy one for her down stairs and "Spring/Fall" cleaning.

I did NOT want to buy this vacuum cleaner because of how expensive it is. I have 2 large (100 lbs each) dogs, one which has severe allergies, and both stay inside. One is allergic to dust mites so we have vacuum everyday. After months of my husband begging me, we caved in when Target had the gift card reward if you bought it. We got home, and started putting it together. My husband vacuumed with our 2 year old bissell first. Then, he vacuumed with the new dyson. I could not believe how much dirt and hair our Bissell didn't pick up. It is awesome. Also, the air that the Dyson put out didn't stink like with our past vacuums. I LOVE it. It was pricey, but it was worth it. Seems to be helping this dog.

My husband got this vacuum for me yesterday. We've been considering it for a while but were quite skeptical when it comes to spending so much money ON A VACUUM! Anyway, it was very easy to assemble,we tried couple areas around the house and the product seem to work good.
I vacuum my house every other day with our Hoover widepath vacuum, which i thought did a great job. We have four indoor dogs and we also live in Texas in our brand new home with no landscaped backyard (yet) so we pretty much we have a sandbox.
Our back door is veru close to carpeted area. I've always known that spot to be very dirty as I can see that after I steam clean. Yesterday we emptied the canister and went straight to that little spot (maybe 2 or 3 ft). As my husband vacuumed it seemed someone was just pumping ridiculous amount of sand into the canister. The canister was full in a matter of 5 minutes. That's when I got convinced we made the right choice.
I am giving a four star as I've only had it for one day and anything can happen in the next few. If you have pets and if you have about $500 to spare this is for you!!!!

A powerful [...] Pet to Care For

This vacuum can suck a lot of dirt and dusk. But come to something like my dry cat food on the carpet, it won’t really pick up stuff as big as a Tricks cereal unless you use the detach latch part to suck it up, but no doubt it can really suck up little dirt that a powerful vacuum would probably not; I guess because of the roller scrub option: they said only on hard floor is when you only need to turn on the roller scrub button or risk damaging the carpet, but then, you can’t really pick up small paper and likewise, so I’ve always leave it on when vacuum (maybe only if you have a carpet in particular that you like or is new only). One other thing about this vacuum is that, it not only work for you, but you have to work on it too, maintaining wise, like the manual says, so you can’t really go lazy on it, you have to get down and dirty once in awhile, which I hate. So overall, this vacuum is 4 stars, because this vacuum is so expensive, you can’t treat it like any other vacuum that you would normally have. You have to understand that is [an expensive] vacuum and you have to care for it more then you should for any others vacuum, which make me feel like I’m caring for another pet, and that I must be gentle on the parts when maintaining it and that can be a pain.

I have used a dyson for the last 4 years and upgraded to this model. Yes, it does a wonderful job at getting up the hair etc but the problem is the tank is hard to empty. In fact my husband and daughter both have trouble getting it to open so that you can empty it. I thought maybe I had a bad one so I called dyson and they were of little to no help, they told me to take it back to the store or they would charge me to fix what is a defect. So back to the store I went... got a new one and after opening it a handful of times it does the same thing. I prefer the old style of the triger release... never had any problems and I used it for years. I also find that the attachement part is very hard to use for anything that is up close to you. It works great when doing corners of the floor etc but try doing any detail work and it is very hard. I would take it back for the other style but it was just past the 90 days when it messed up the second time.
