I was shocked when I found out a vacuum could cost this much. I thought what a rip off and it's just a fad....That is until I used one. I went over to a friend's house who had animals. My allergies would go crazy and I would only last an hour at best before having to leave. Then one day she got a dyson absolute. I could breathe and my allergies didn't act up once. I went out and bought one the next day.... My carpets were nasty, and I am a neat freak. I was in shock when I had to empty the canister 6 times between 3 rooms. It has a hepa air cleaner and I definitely noticed a difference in air quality and (knock on wood) I have not had a sinus infection in a long time because of this baby!
If you have allergies and animals this is definitely worth the investment.

I was very impressed by this vacuum, not only does it have super suction it is also very easy to use. The hand tools are so simple, you just flip up the little lock and pull up on the handle there it is ready to use!!! It is worth the money, I can't see myself ever using anything else. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone.

We bought this vacuum about 4 weeks ago and I'm really happy with it. We have a dog & 2 cats, and they all shed a LOT. The dog's hair is the same colour as our carpets, so the carpet can look clean when it really is not. We recently steam cleaned our carpets and had disgusting balls of hair everywhere, so clearly the cheapie vacuum wasn't cutting it.

I read reviews of all of the different Dysons available, and we decided to try the DC17 Animal because our main problems are pet hair and sand (we live close to the beach). When we brought The Animal home I did the standard test; I vacuumed our bedroom with our old bagless, then with the Dyson. The Dyson picked up about 2/3 of a cannister of hair. Gross.

Several months ago I had cleaned a Persian rug in our little-used living room with corn starch to get out odors. That rug must have been vacuumed 15 times since then, and the Animal pulled out a good 1/4 cup of corn starch on an area rug. The suction is very strong, so I won't vacuum that rug more than once a week in order to prevent damage to the fibers.

A couple of things I love - the Animal goes SO easily between different types of carpet, and to tile or hardwood without any manual adjustments. It picks up more crumbs and sand than the old vacuum - which tended to just spray crumbs around the floor. I do like being able to empty the cannister without getting my hands dirty or dusty.

It does leave some tracks on one of our carpets, but if I vacuum in a different direction it does not.

The parts don't seem "cheap" to me, however I don't know if I would throw it down a set of stairs (but then I wouldn't do that with another vacuum either), and I have found it easy to use the handheld tools.

It is an expensive vacuum, but with proper care I expect that it will last a good 7-10 years. Our cheapie vacuums typically only make it through about 2 years.

I BOUGHT THIS VACUMN A COUPLE WEEKS AGO....I HAVE A MIXED LAB AND GERMAN SHEPHERD AND SHE SHEDS ALOT...I FIGURED WHY NOT TRY THIS OUT TO GET RID OF ALL THE HAIR....IT IS WONDERFUL...I AM IN LOVE...I HAVE NEVER SEEN A VACUMN WITH THIS MUCH SUCTION POWER...IT GETS DIRT AND HAIR UP THAT I DIDNT EVEN KNOW WE HAD.....SO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VACUMN...DEFINATELY WORTH THE MONEY!!!!

I vacuum my home with my Hoover Windtunnel till the green (clean) light remained on. Then I used the animal to vacuum the same areas the amount of dirt and hair was amazing. I wish I had this vacuum when my kids were little. We have 2 cats and two dogs and the vacuum is very powerful. I know some have complained that the vacuum has damaged carpet, but to me that proves that the suction power is the best. You just need to use common sence when vacuuming. The rooms even smell fresher after vacuuming. I have noticed that my allergies are not as bad after using the vacuum for 3 weeks. I have also noticed that I do not have to dust as often.
I really like being able to see the amount of dirt instantly. The attachments are easy to use, once you figure things out. The instructions are more pictures then words. But the tools really help in getting pet hair off of furniture. I have used the vacuum in my car after taken the care to CARPOOL and the amount of hair and dirt the animal removed again amazing. You will definately feel that you have actually cleaned your home when you vacuum with the dyson.

This is the best vacuum I have ever used!!! I can't believe all the "stuff" it picks up!! I don't have any pets, but with 4 boys it is a life saver. Really, my 5 year old carpet looks so much better, it was getting kind of matted down, but this vacuum is lifting the carpet more and it looks newer!!! I highly recommend paying the extra to get this model. Also, being pregnant it really isn't that hard to push. Wow, I just can't rave enough about this machine!!! Don't hesitate or spend more time researching others, this is the one you need!! I am a very happy customer!!

I love my dyson!!!!! I had a hard time spending the money on the dyson. When Target offered $100 gift card if you bought a dyson. I went for it and bought one. I LOVE it. I vacuum anywhere from one to three times a day. It gets the dust out of my carpet. We have a long her cat and it gets all her hair off the carpet. The only thing I can say bad about it is...it does not always pick up the cheerios.

I had been considering purchasing a new vacuum. Our Bissell is about 4 yrs. old and is so clogged with dirt (despite my weekly banging out filters outside ritual) and lossing suction. Also, our carpet, which is 2 yrs old started getting that old, worn, need a steam cleaning look. We have two dogs, one of which is an American Eskimo and sheds like crazy, so I was looking for something that would really work well at pulling up the pet hair.

After reading some reviews for the Dyson DC17 Animal Vacumm, I was sold. The only thing that held me back was having to pay $549., but after using it for the first time today, I realized that this vacuum is worth every penny. My house has that fresh, spring cleaned feeling and the carpets look great. I am very impressed and I really believe this vacuum will in the long run, end up saving me money. I'll tell you why...

Some things I noticed: Simple to assemble, lightweight - pretty much propels itself it seems, in first cleaning I collected 7 containers of hair and dirt (totally gross yet a totally great feeling at the same time) The air/house actually smelled cleaner, the carpet had that brand new/poofed up look to it that leaves foot prints on it when you walk on it. Something that really amazed me was that as I was vacuuming I was finding some old pet urine stains that I had never noticed before. I guess I used to clean them up thinking I had gotten them good but this vacuum stirred up the fibers so much or something that I could see things I couldn't before so then I was able to go back and really get the rest of it that I didn't even know was still lingering. Totally amazing.

I used to spend alot of money on filters and lint rollers to collect pet hair off of upholstry, but the tools work great so I don't think I'll be needing to spend alot of money on those anymore. Plus, I was considering getting the carpets professionally cleaned, but now they look so great I don't think I'll need to, and in the long run I believe our carpets will last longer, another money saver. I definitely believe this product was worth every penny and will pay itself off over the next few years. So if the price tag has you unsure, don't worry, it's worth it and since it comes with a 5 year warranty I really feel that I don't have anything to worry about.

My only suggestion is that if you have inexpensive carpets, this may not be the product for you. Because it is so powerful I could see it pulling up alot of fibers in a weak carpet and eventually wearing it thin. The manual says to turn the brushes off on delicate carpet areas, which I tried just to see how it worked and it wasn't quite as efficient without the brushes going as it was with them going. But having power like that is a good thing if you ask me, and in my opinion, this is definitely the best vacuum I have ever used. Great buy.

This vacuum works GREAT on our carpet. We have 2 dogs (Alaskan Malamute and Black Lab) that shed like crazy and we couldnt seem to find a vacuum that could pull the hair out of the carpet. We tried a Kenmore as well as an Oreck and both vacuums barely even touched the hair problem. After some researching, we heard about this vacuum...so we gave it a try and we're so glad we did!!! I was disgusted with the amount of dirt and hair that it pulled out of the carpet!!!! Now, our carpets look like they're brand new!!! We highly recommend this vacuum:)

We just purchased this vacuum last night, and have already vacuumed the whole house! :-) Our carpet upstairs is longer, not shag - but not as short as berber either. We could not believe all the stuff it picked up. We were disgusted that we were sitting on the floors prior to this, and sitting on the nasty stuff we picked up. Downstairs we have berber carpet. This did not pick up as much, but it probably isn't able to hold as much either. I love being able to SEE what you are picking up. I like to see progress. It is really easy to empty, you don't have to get your hands dirty. My only complaint, is that the vacuum seems kind of "cheap". The 2 clips that hold the cord when not in use kind of bend when you are wrapping it up. I can almost predict them breaking soon. I also just think the vacuum looks cheap, thin plastic or something. But, it cleans good, and that's all that counts! I would recommend buying. Especially now, with a $100 gift card when purchased. That's great!
