We have 3 dogs and 1 cat, tried every brand and this one is worth every penny. We vacuumed with a $1500 electralux the day we purchased the Dyson and it was almost disgusting the amount of stuff it got out of our carpets. I was even able to quit taking my allergy medicine after about 3 weeks of regular use, and friends that come over who are alergic to animals do not have a problem at our house.

My soon to be mother-in-law gave us this vacuum for one of our weddig gifts. We have 3 giant Labs, and we are constantly fighting the dust and dandar. Well, NOT ANYMORE! This vacuum is fantastic! I vacuumed the carpets with our regular vacuum (which we thought was a good one) and then I vacuumed with the DC17, and we found another Lab in there! It's great! And, it's doesn't get clogged and it's really easy to empty the container. The dust empty from the bottom of the container, so dirt goes straight into your trash bag without getting dust and dirt back into the air! YAY! THANKS MOM!

Our carpet seriously looks different after using this amazing machine. It looks new. This vacuum picks up everything!!! I vacuumed only a few days ago (we have no pets and no kids) and once using the dyson yesterday, it was actually full. Who knew my carpet was still so dirty, and my old vacuum was so horrible. I will never buy anything else. I have the best vacuum ever, and I'm so pleased with my purchase. It was worth ever penny. Plus it came with a carpet cleaning kit and so many attachments! This is the ultimate vacuum. And hey, my husband loved it so much, he was eager to help me vacuum. And hey, that's worth the money, right?! :)

I love this vacuum. I've owned Hoovers all my life and they don't even remotely compare to the Dyson. It has so many great features. The hose extends from the bottom of my staircase to the top, the suction is so powerful. YOu can empty the canister practically with ONE hand. I highly recommend this vacuum!!!

I was very skeptical about purchasing a Dyson, so I ended up with a $300 Hoover Wind Tunnel that only lasted about two years. I wish I'd bought the Dyson first. I have three dogs so my vacuum gets very heavy use. It is so much easier and cleaner to empty this canister over other bagless vacs I've used. My only negative thought is the hand tools - while cleverly stored in the handle of the vacuum, it's just not quite long enough to use without any hassle.

My friend bought a Dyson and everytime I have a party or am going to shampoo my carpets, he brings the Dyson over to clean the carpets first. I just moved into this house last year and had bought a new Dirt Devil. I can use mine to clean the dog hair, for which I have two fluffy ones, and then go over it with the Dyson. The Dyson picks up even more dirt. It also strains my carpet shampoo machine less since there is a lot less dirt to clean. The water would be black if I use only my Dirt Devil as a before cleaner. With the Dyson, it is much cleaner. And now it is my birthday and I am getting one of my very own. My friend will be glad to not have to drag his over anymore! It is the BEST GIFT EVER!!!!

Last year I purchased 3 new vacuums and then I decided to take the plunge and get THE ANIMAL. What a difference. I have 3 cats and 3 dogs and vacuum every day just because I can. Outstanding results with it. I should tell you that when I brought it home I used my old one which was 4 weeks old (and more expensive)then I brought this one out of the box. I'm thrilled with my Dyson, truly thrilled. You could say I've tried them all. I have carpeted bedrooms and tile floors and it does it all.

Stop reading all of the other online reviews, you just have found the best vacuum that money can buy. I was very hesitant about spending this amount of money on a vacuum, however after spending $150.00 every two years for just an adequate vacuum i figured it was time to see if this vacuum was all it is cracked up to be, YES IT IS!
My only complaint, no retractable cord.

This is the best vacuum I have ever owned. We have three dogs and three cats. This is great for pet hair as well as everyday dirt & dust.

And this is the one my wife & I went for. I have physically tried every Oreck, Kenmore, Electrolux (Eureka), Hoover, Bissell, Shark & Dirt Devil out there. I've tried Uprights, Canisters, Slims, Light-weights, Back-Pack & Stick Vacs. Bag & Bag-less as well. The best comparison I could give this vacuum to anyone that has ever had one, is a Kirby. I had a G4 that I loved & had for 12 years before it started acting up. The thing would suck the chrome off a bumper. This DC17 does almost the same thing... for less than half the price. Granted it doesn't have a transmission like a Kirby, but again... it's less than half the price of one. I love this thing. I have new, very thick carpet & this thing plows right through it. If any of you have thick carpet & a so-so vac... you'll know that you have to put some effort into vacuuming the carpet. This one pulls right through it like a self propelled vac (which it's not). VERY handy. It might not be the most maneuverable vac out there, but the power more than makes up for that. And the accessories you get make the package even more attractive. And being an owner of another bag-less vacuum, I'm extremely happy to say that when I dump the canister out, I DON'T have to bang a paper filter against a tree or something till I dust out my entire house, or neighborhood for that matter, to get the vacuum up & running again. I have not one bad thing to say about this vacuum & wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
