I wanted to buy a humidifier due to the extreme dry air in my room. I live in an apartment, the heater is always on full blast which makes my room's air really dry. I always get static shock whenever my skin gets in contact with fleece and especially with my doorknob.
I did a little research and saw the review of this humidifier. I wanted a small one and not too expensive. Many stated that this Vicks cool mist humidifier was noisy, which isnt. It is always quiet in the apartment and when the humifdifier's setting is low, you can barely hear it.
Its really compact and it does NOT leak. When you move it, you must keep it leveled so that the water does not spill.
When I turn the humnidifier on, I can feel the difference. The only con is that it only holds up a Gallon. Its need frequent re-filling. Also, the filter needs to be changed monthly (depending on how much you use it)
The filter however, does not get dirty too quicly. I have been using it for 4 weeks now and its not too dirty.

Filters are [not cheap], and they don't last long. Had I known how much I'd spend on them, and how frequently I'd end up replacing them, I would not have picked this model. I previously owned the Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier V-745A (no filters needed). I liked that one better. The Cool Mist one was sufficient because it replaced my "warm" one when the weather was HOT, but the "cool" one really does put out a cool mist that can really cool a small room. Totally not what you want on a cold winter night. Also, of the two settings, low is LOUD and high is louder. Although, it's not bad if you really want that white noise to drown out the noise of the awake people still moving around in the house. It's a nice basic model, and pretty much does the job, but next time around, I would probably go ahead and spend the money on an "expensive" one that doesn't require a filter change.

I just bought this to use in my daughters room and it's great. Nice and small (perfect size for her nursery). Love the invisible moisture and that it doesn't totally soak the floor (I have another ultrasonic humidifier that makes a total mess). I dont think it is as loud as others have complained about and it certainly has not woken up our daughter in the middle of the night.

As for if it actually puts out moisture, I believe that it does. I can't feel it coming out, but the past 2 nights, the tank has almost totally emptied, and that was just on low. I haven't had any issues with leaking.

I'm interested in seeing how long the filter lasts, though.

This unit blows cold air which cools the room during winter. I am not talking about normal cool mist, it actually blows cold air from the unit into the bedroom. After couple of hours of blowing cold air, our bedroom was too cold. In addition, this unit is too loud to sleep through during the night.

I bought this for my baby's room. It is very noisy and the "glug-glug-glug" is so loud and frequent that it woke the baby up. I had to replace the filter after one use (it disenigrated inside the machine). On the 3rd use, the water leaked from every available angle. It went right in the garbage!

I use this humidifier in my 9 month old sons room. He had a few colds last winter and the moist air helped. The unit is loud, which was sort of nice because it provided "white noise" for my son to sleep to when he was already irritable. When the unit is full it has to say in place until it runs through all the water or else you will be moping water off your floor. You do have to clean or replace the filters often. For a cheap humidifier it is fine - I would rather deal with these quirks than spend $150.

This was advised to me by a Paramedic to get and always have on for my Newborn - was I glad to have it w/ her now having a cold! I run it nightly, no matter what.

Plus, if you have a baby during warm month - it works like a air conditioner at night! I love that it keeps the room cool for us :-)

Plus, plus if you like white noise, it has a small hum to it that drowns out my noisy cats!

I gave it 4 stars, not 5 b/c I was confused by the direction that say there is a medicine cup - there is NOT. That is another model but I guess they only have one booklet for the 2 different humidifiers - I go the VICKS Plug-In which I really like b/c we can take it w/ us on trips.

I have no issues w/ smells as the previous review says.

I purchased this product and it leaks water everywhere! It's doesn't matter how I tried to fix it(stable surface, locking valves, put less water, still leaks). After 3 weeks of trying, finally, I threw it away since I lost the receipt, yeah you can figure how Target policy without reciept you can't return/exhcange. I regret to buy this item and it's a total waste of my time and my money. It had such a poor quality control!

This is a terrible humidifier. It produces no cool "mist." It's basically a (loud) fan with a bowl of water in front of it. Go buy the Crane penguin humidifier -- it's only a smal price more, and not only is it adorable but if you turn it up to high it produces clouds and clouds of cool mist. Silently. Your sore throat will thank you for it. You'll get a full night's sleep.

We have been using this unit for about a month now.

As many others pointed out, it really is pretty noisy. I even have it on the floor on a towel and still, it's noisy.

In addition, it really does not work that well. We are trying to humidify a small bedroom at night and frankly, this unit fails in doing it's job.

It will be returned for a different unit tomorrow.
