I have to say that this is one of the best humidifiers...especially for the money. I had a little trouble with leaking at first, but I figured out you have to completely turn the plug after fill it with water, in order to lock it in. Even if you think its closed, keep turning until you feel it click. Since then I have had NO problems and it is wonderful. It does not put out a mist so it does not saturate you carpet or floors (WONDERFUL FEATURE!). I bought ours for my son who has had MANY sinus problems and this really helps him sleep at night. Highly Recommended!

My wife and I decided to buy a humidifier for our room, since our 23 month old daughter has one in her room and she frequently winds up in our bed and it is a pain to keep moving the other humidifier back and forth. We have a Holmes brand humidifier in her room, which seems to do the job. My wife went to Target and bought the Vicks V-3100 model cool mist humidifier. We have used it for about a month now, and it is a lot quieter than the Holmes brand humidifier and doesn't seem to require as much maintenance as the Holmes brand. I just wish this had a bigger tank so we didn't have to fill quite as often. We haven't noticed any leaks, and when it is on the low setting, it is barely audible.

I had this one night before returning it. It's deceiving because it looks very compact and efficient therefore you think it will be quiet but it's not. I've used humidifers my whole life and this is the noisiest one I've ever come across. It was too loud to use over night in our bedroom even on the lowest setting. The pets were freaked out about how loud it was. Dont' know how well it works or not because we didn't get that far.

I bought this for my daughters room the other day and when we placed it in her room, it let off a strange odor. My daughter and I couldn't take the smell of it so I took it back.

I bought two, the first one leaked through the hole where you fill the water, so I had to buy another one after two uses. The second one did the same thing, I now need to buy a third humidifier and my child just turned one. The fan is sooo loud, and become very annoying.

I bought this humidifier for 2 reasons ... for my 2nd son's room and for the price! When the humidifier is turned on to the "low" mode, it sounds as if it's a jet taking off and has a constant sound of the fan turning. I thought the sound would go away once the machine was broken inn, but it's been three months and still has the annoying sound. Believe it or not, the humidifier sounds better on high than it does on low. I haven't had a chance to purchase a new humidifier, but highly do not recommend getting this one ... even if you are on a budget! Spend a little more to save yourself the headache of a bad product.

WE have a 1200 sq ft, three-bedroom apartment and this does the job. I have it sitting in the main room, on the pass-through of our dining area. It doesn't blow pure water, which I LOVE since I have two little ones.
We've had it for quite a while, but recently set it back up prior to bringing home our little one a month ago. Everyone is sleeping much better.
The price of the filters is on the higher end, but definitely MUCH cheaper than running my 3yo to the pediatrician for sinus infections/allergy-related infections.
Living in Florida, running the air conditioner most of the time, we needed to add moisture to the air. This does the job. I personally don't think it's that loud, but then again, I have a newborn and 3yo, so our place is noisy to begin with.

Have had this humidifier for 2 years, love it. Works great in my little girls room. Easy to clean, compared to others. Those that have complained about smells, I've never had that problem as long as you keep your room clean of dirty laundry and keep filters clean. You have to buy a new one about every 4 weeks, that's why i gave it a 4 not a 5. Although it's very easy to find the filters at another retailer, target or another retailer it gets pricey having to replace it every 4 weeks. I've never had problems with it leaking as long as you make sure you place the water basin on correctly. And i have to agree with others it works great as white noise for the little ones when they sleep.

Bought this unit due to my horrible allergies which were exacerbated during pregnancy. The filter went bad in less than a month. The high setting has loud fan noise. The unit smells if you use it everyday and don't empty the water EVERY day. It's also difficult to fill basin with water in a standard sink. I have to fill in the bathtub to get it filled all the way. Buy a different unit. I thought I might use this in the baby's room. NO WAY!

I've had this in my son's room for 5 months. It works fine, although it goes through filters quickly, which gets expensive. Make sure there is no water in the tank or the unit when you move it or it will leak.
