Description
A next-gen entry into the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise developed exclusively for Nintendo's Wii console. Sonic brings his trademark speed and attitude to the Nintendo Wii. The story begins with Sonic turning the pages of the classic book, "Arabian Nights". Suddenly, he is visited by the tale8217;s central character, the Genie, who reveals that the last several pages of the book have mysteriously gone blank. This mystical being grants Sonic the ability to travel into the book's world. Armed with his signature speed, Sonic sets off on an adventure to retrieve the missing pages, and set the world of the Arabian Nights back in order. Mimicking the energy and movements of Sonic, players actively perform specialized moves with the Wii controller, bringing their stamina and wide range of motion into the action

Horrible game. Kids can't play and my husband got so aggitated he quit playing. Our 9 year old won't be able to play this for a LONG TIME. I expected regular sonic and instead got an alternative rock version. The hard acid rock music is horrible. it is like listening to Insane clown possee, not for kids. waste of money.

My son (8yr) & I enjoy this game. He mostly plays the story mode, but there's also a party mode which is great. In the party mode you pick which character you want to play as & play against the other characters; games like row boating, find the difference, catching objects. It's really fun when you play against another person (need 2 remotes to do this). I would even recommend this game to someone that doesn't like Sonic.
Maybe the reviewer above didn't know about the party mode & that you can lower the volume of the music?

What can I say about it...If you are a hard core gamer like me you will cry from the money you jsut spent on this.
I did all the levels, in 4 hours. Then I got some friends over and played the party mode in it.
Which was about as entertaining as watching a coconut sitting on a table.
If you want it for the single player, I recomend NiGHTS. If you want it for the Multiplayer I recomend Mario Party 8, because you basically have all the same minigames minus almost all of the Mario Party 8.
Stay away, don't touch it, just buy something else.

[...] I've loved Sonic the Hedgehog since the original first three games came out on Sega Genesis. I even enjoyed the Dreamcast title for a little bit. However this game on the Wii is horrible. Basically you just use the remote, turn it sideways and tilt it side to side while Sonic runs almost uncontrollably through the entire course. You spend most of your energy trying to avoid running into things that will make you start over from the very beginning of the level.
In my opinion it would have been a MUCH more enjoyable game if you had the freedom to just walk around and explore the levels for yourself. I'm more into adventure games and to me this just felt more like a racing game.... which I am not a fan of. Only one problem.... you're not actually racing anyone. He's just running as fast as he can on a pre-determined path and you have no control over which way you go or how fast you get there. I think they should make a new Sonic game for the Wii but support the Nun chuck and give you more of a realistic environment to walk around in and try to find things.
I think in a way this game tries to go back to the days of the first Sonic games where the only way you could go was forward.... but Mario and many other games were the same way and look how they've evolved. They've given huge worlds for us to explore. That's part of how you get so IN to the game by having the freedom to go where you want when you want to and at any time you can get back on track and solve something or accomplish a mission.
Other than that the humor in the game is enjoyable. Sonic as a character has always had a sense of humor.
Game play is the big problem. I was so excited to play it when my girlfriend and I went and bought this game and Super Mario Galaxy. Sonic has always been one of my top favorites (under Zelda of course). However when I finally got to play it, I got through about three levels (or pages or chapters, whatever they call them in the game) and I had enough. Picked it up once since then and got sick of it after about twenty minutes.... probably won't ever even bother with it again....

I love the old sonic games and I thought this was a horrible game. The controls are way too difficult for adults much less for children. I played this game for about 10 mins and then I sold it because it was too difficult. Buy at your own risk.

I love the classic Sonic games and their wild gameplay, but this game falls horribly short of any of the appeal those games have or had. This game is so incredibly boring and trite. You can literally sit down and finish this game in 2 hours, all you do is steer the joystick. If you are a beginning gamer or you have very young children that cannot play some of the more advanced games, this might be fun for about an hour, but my suggestion is do not waste your money on this game. Get Paper Mario for some family fun or Resident Evil 4 for some late night gaming with friends, but don't waste your time with this one.
