bad: screw's don't fit. All screws but two didn't go in because the manufacturer made 2 holes smaller than the size they're suppose to be. directions aren't clear enough I had to replace a part in the board after I put so many screws in it. I had two people help me and it took about up to 2 hours.


good: color, & height. also wood was not chipped.

Before I read the reviews here, I had already "fallen in love" with this bookcase whenever I would see it in a Target store. Compared with IKEA's cheap looking (and over-priced) bookcases, I knew this wouldn't be a bad purchase.

After taking in to account all of the reviews on this bookcase (the good and the bad), I purchased it yesterday to place in my living room and was quite please that the bookcase was not at all damaged (except for a couple of very minor scratches). And even though I wasn't the one to fully put the bookcase together, it didn't seem like a simple task as thought. :) Even though, I may purchase another in the slightly lighter color, and put the dark one in my bedroom and the slightly lighter one in the living room.

Bottomline: Get the bookcase! It's totally worth it!!

I had to go out of my way to purchase this product as they are difficult to find in-stock. The color and style are beautiful and we were pleased with it as we were putting it together. However, we realized that an outward facing piece had been damaged. These things, of course, happen in shipping and with low-priced merchandise. What angered me was the fact that a sloppy attempt had been made to cover up the damage with an oily paint in the wrong color. The bottom 20% of this piece had streaks of this wrong color painted over it. [...]

I bought a 5-shelf bookcase 4 weeks ago and wanted a second but all the stores in town and online were out of stock. Finally, a second case came in. After purchasing just today I assembled both cases quite easily on my own (may I mention I am 8 months pregnant). The bookcases are very sturdy and look great! I mean, come on, they are only $100! What a deal! I would recommend them to anyone!

This is a well built, easy to put together, stylish bookshelf. There were only two problems I've found with this item. 1) The accent rail at the top didn't have any screw holes. Forcing me to actually pay attention on what I was doing while installing it. 2) My wife and I had to go to several stores in order to find a single unit. This seems to be less relevant now that it is available online.
Even though this wasn't our first option for a bookshelf it was a great buy. And we are very happy with it. The item looks great in our living room and it seems to be fairly sturdy. We are already talking about getting a couple more.

One last thing, if you like your furniture to look sparkly new you might want to try another (more expensive) item. Our unit had some stress marks on the wood. Nothing major, it actually gave a little character to the piece. I don't know if it was intentional though.

I bought the bookcase at the store, once I got home and started to put all the pieces together, there were scratches and dents on all the frame pieces. After I completed the job, the bookcase is very sturdy and I used a permanent marker to cover the damaged areas. But not a bad deal for the money.

This bookcase looks great with our other furniture. I had looked for a long time. It is very simple in design and was easy to put together. There were only 2 problems with it. First of all we had to look for a long time at all the stores in our area for one that had it in stock as it seems to not be available that often. Secondly the tiny screws used to put the back of the bookcase on were very cheap and broke in half.
