I had been looking at these for a long time and my GF gave me one for Christmas. I finally got the room cleared out to put it together. When I opened it, the tongue and groove particleboard had sheared off. It can't be exchanged without a receipt. Time to go to another reatiler.

My husband and I bought 2 of these shelves about a year ago and absolutely loved them. We loved them so much that we just bought another one so now we have a full wall of bookshelves making our living room look more like a library.They were very easy to assemble and look fabulous.

I was very skeptical of this bookcase because of how inexpensive it was, but it really is beautiful. The shelves are nice and thick and it is very sturdy. Husband put it together w/o any complaints. It comes with a child safety anti-tip screw in, so that was great!

I ALWAYS READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE BUYING A PRODUCT. I WAS A LITTLE AFRAID TO BUY THIS PRODUCT AFTER I READ SOME OF THE NEGATIVE THINGS THAT WERE POSTED. TO SAVE MY FIANCE' A HEADACHE I DECIDED I'D TRY TO PUT THE BOOKSHELF TOGETHER MYSELF. WELL MUCH TO MY SURPRISE IT WAS SUPER FREAKIN EASY!! ALL I NEEDED WAS A PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER. THE INSTRUCTIONS CALL FOR A HAMMER AS WELL BUT I DIDN'T NEED ONE. ALL THE PIECES WERE NUMBERED AND I THOUGHT THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE PRETTY EASY TO FOLLOW. IT TOOK ME ABOUT AN HOUR TO PUT TOGETHER. AND NOW THAT IT'S DONE AND IN IT'S PLACE IT LOOKS SO GOOD!!! I BOUGHT A SECOND ONE....

I was in need of bookcases and I bought 3. I was glad I did because 1 box arrived with no instructions. All 3 had broken pieces. One had a side support sheered right off. I had to glue it back together. Another one has a huge crack all the way through. There appeared to be chips that someone attempted to cover with a black that doesn't quite match the rest of the black. One of the boxes not only had broken pieces, but had a broken bag of the screws. These were scattered all over the inside of the shipping box. Fortunately, I had enough extras in the other boxes I was able to replace the missing ones. When put together, there are some gaps. If you don't have a battery operated screwdriver, get one. Your hand will be blistered by the time you are done.

Just be aware, if you have these shipped to your home, they seem to be wrapped in very very thin styrofoam and the pieces, as mentioned are cracked. They certainly aren't high quality...but, if you need cheap bookcases in a pinch, they will do.

Now...to see how long they will last....

This bookcase looks great and for the money, is very well put together. My 13 year old daughter put most of it together herself!! She probably could have done the whole thing herself if we would have let her. Anyway, if you are looking for something that looks great, but isn't costly, I would buy this. And right now it is on sale for a few dollars!

I love this piece, great for the price! I also got the smaller piece it completes my dining room and of course its not the best quality but if you know how to take care of the things in your home it will last a long time. The color is beautiful and was easy to put together my husband is a monster at putting things together. overall its great!! and remember when reading these reviews that people are quick to complain and people forget to compliment when things turn out great..<3

We ordered this bookshelf because we live in Alaska and it's difficult to find vendors who will ship to us. We knew this bookshelf wouldn't be top of the line, but we are very happy with it regardless. It did take a long time to put together, but it looks nice and matches our other espresso furniture. There were no knicks or broken pieces, either, even after being shipped across the country. It is a good piece if you want inexpensive storage before (or instead of) investing in really expensive bookshelves

This item is packed so poorly that it took me three trips to the store to try and get a box where the pieces were not damaged. I called the company as instructed in the manual and received a recorded message stating that they were out of spare parts for this model and to leave a message. Well, they never called back. I finally did find did put the pieces from all of my boxes together to form a complete bookcase and it is beautiful. Not sure it is worth the effort though.

I have assembled a lot of furniture in my time, and this was the worst. The instructions were okay, but the cam bolts were all misaligned. I struggled to get one in for about 15 minues before I looked at it and found there was a 1/4 inch difference between the bolts on the shelf - so it was almost impossible to assemble. I got around it by loosening a lot of the bolts and putting them on crooked in some cases - not at all reassuring for a bookcase! The side panels are not real wood, only a 1/4 inch veneer of some sort, braced with wood on the outside - again, this wasn't comforting to me, knowing that it was supposed to support books. That being said, I was able to get it together finally, and it is holding a good number of books without any issue. However, Target has other brands that they sell that would be worth the extra 10 bucks that you save by buying this one. I'm very disappointed with the purchase.
