As everyone mentioned putting together was fairly easy, only issues was the 40+ small screws on back had to work those and aligning some of the screws and such that hold the shelves. Time of hr to hr and half is about right, looks great and can't wait to load it up.

VERY easy to put together. As always, with any furniture you have to assemble, having a drill helps with the process. As much as I hate cam bolts and locks, I put this together in 1 hour with a break for my aching back.
***One thing to note- in the pictures- pay attention to Figures 6 and 7....
Fig 6 shows that pieces 3 and 14 should be in back when it is actually 3 and 15 that should. Turn the page and Fig 7 is actually correct.
Once you see that and go with your gut you're good.
Best part is that it looks nice and it's quite tall!

Solid and Straightforward Assembly

We are very pleased with this bookcase. Assembly went off pretty much without a hitch. There are only 4 main types of hardware (two sizes of screws, cam locks and cam screws) so not overly confusing. Plan on an hour for putting it together as you will want to make sure all the pieces are going the correct direction. It's a little more detailed than other bookcases we've done in the past but the shelves aren't going to come flying out if it's tipped either! The extra time is well worth it as it seems to be well made and very solid!

I bought 3 of the three-shelf cases about six months ago. I love them. They look very sharp displayed side-by-side. Assembly was pretty straight forward and took two of us about twenty minutes for each case. Well worth the price!

We love this bookcase! It was hard to find in the stores - we had to go to several - but we finally found one and were able to avoid the shipping costs.
It is sturdy and very attractive. Assembly was fairly difficult - it took several hours and caused an argument - but in the end it is wonderful. We are planning to buy several more!

We bought this at a Target store and had none of the problems some other reviews had. All the parts were there and none were damaged. It was a little more difficult to put together than other boxed pieces of furniture we've purchased (about 1 hr), but once it's assembled it doesn't look at all like a flat-pack piece of furniture! It seems all these put-together bookcases come with a cheap back panel, and this one comes with two, one for the top half and one for the bottom. We only used the one on the bottom half for stability, leaving the top half open. We're using the top half of the bookcase for a collection, not books, so it looks real nice with the wall showing through. We love it!

The bookcase looks nice in our living room, and is a great great deal for the price (but shipping costs a pretty penny). Only negative is it got slightly damaged/cracked during shipment, which happens often with anything you buy from Target.com I hear. Wasn't too difficult to fix it though. A little time-consuming to put together but not rocket science. We bought the set of 3 with the different sizes and they look like a nice bookcase family when placed in a row next to each other. We also did away with the backing because it seemed to look nicer without it. Overall, a good purchase!

I was hoping that these would be of better quality. The cam lock system these use are almost completely useless. I put together 3 of the 5 shelf bookcases, and one of the 2 shelf. The 5 shelf bookcases gave me the most trouble. The cam bolts on each of the bases of the 5 shelves just didn't want to lock at all. I bought a bottle of wood glue to ease my mind. I was able to compare the efficiency of the cam locking system to another piece of furniture I put together made by Bush. Now the cam bolts on these locked much more securely. Had I known that Bush made a similar bookcase for only $50 more, I would have bought them. Bush even has a 6 year warranty on their furniture.

Other than being a two person assembling task, these are great for the price. I bought 2 for my living room and they look like expensive book shelves, but they were only around $80/each. They were difficult to assemble alone but when I called a friend over to help it went much faster and only took us about an hour.

We bought 3 of these shelves for our office and they look amazing! It took us about 5 hours to put the 3 together - it was pretty simple - just time consuming (plus we have 2 toddlers!)This was the look that we wanted at a price we could definately afford.
