I am very disappointed with this piece of furniture ,it took me a few hours to put together, the pieces didnt want to line up overall the construction on this bookcase is very poor and i am not happy with this piece of the collection as my wife and I have 5 more pieces of the collection which i would give a 4 star rating

This piece looks very nice after put together. Tedious project, but not too bad. The hardware it came with was not of good quality. Some of the screws didn't even have a groove on top to screw it in. The top piece of the unit doesn't sit flush either. If you stand to the side you can see light thru where the 2 pieces don't touch. Wanted to try and us a screw gun to make the wood to meet, but we were afraid the wood would split. Wood particle, not actual wood. And one drawer slides smoothly, but the other is a little crooked. They don't open very far either. Very pleased with how it looks, except for the fact that top doesn't fit. Also comes with extra stain for nicks and scratches. Not amazing, but good for the price.

It has taken me a number of hours to build this thing.It was very tedious.Parts do not always line properly.The top panel in particular would not clamp down.You could see daylight through its`side.It took special effort and Gorilla glue to get it right.It also has no pre-drilled guide holes for running audio cables if used for components.Looks really good completed,but I would never build another one.

This thing was an absolute nightmare to put together! I decided to take a chance and get it since I got the matching tv stand-which was a lot easier to put together than this and looks very nice with the rest of my furniture. The backerboard is the worst part. It's so flimsy and it makes it difficult to put all of the pieces together because it keeps sliding everywhere. Even though it's on sale now save your money-it's not worth the time and hassle.

Previously I reviewed this because I just purchased the item and loved it, thats why 5 stars is rated. I loved it and it is beautiful. I DO WANT TO EDIT MY REVIEW because its been a few months and mine fell apart. Luckily not on me or my plasma tv but still it fell apart from the base. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BOOKCASE.

Was very tedious putting this together. My boyfriend had a rough time with it as lots of pieces were not lining up or were falling apart. Once it was done, it looks really nice but it is wobbly so it has to be reinforced. Also, shelves are not level even though shelf holders are where they should be.

I was hesitant to buy this since I read the other bad reviews, but this bookcase has definetly just gotten a bad rap. I ordered two of them. One of them took only 45 minutes to put together, all the pieces fit perfectly and it was very easy to put together. I must admit I'm very good at putting furniture together, so it may take you a little longer than it took me. The other took 2 1/2 hours simply because the pieces did not go together. I was very upset to say the least. I called Target and they were soooo nice, THEY HAVE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They sent me a new one right away for FREE that fit together perfectly! I love both of these bookcases!!! So these other reviewers must have gotten one of the defective ones and didn't realize it. The only reason I knew any better is because I bought two.

First of all let me say this was a major project to put together! My Husband who is a genius at assembling things found this to be a headache! The back paneling is pictured as if it has a wood grain finish..IT IS JUST A PLAIN BLACK BACKERBOARD...and again as title states it looks much darker almost black! Also, very light and not much real wood.If this Bookcase had been about 100-125 I would give it a higher rating But at 249.00 its way over priced in my opinion. Had I not thrown the box away, I would definately return!! Good luck!

My wife and I bought this to go along with the divider, side table, tv stand, and console table. When you finally get it put together it looks just awesome. I must admit, once you get towards the end of putting it together, I guess the manufacturer made a mistake, because they mis-labeled the slides the drawers slide on, all you have to do is switch them and you are on your way. It only took a few minutes to figure out the mistake, but the trouble it caused was well worth it and plus it is on clearance.
