Great Bike but has its cons June 6, 2007 Reviewer:  Alok "Alok" (West Des Moines, IA, USA)  See all my reviews >

Bought this bike from Target.com (3 weeks ago) and used the 10% off coupon with free shipping. [...] Anyways, it is a great bike for the price. It rides great too. I have a Schwinn Traler I use too and it rides great. I adjusted the Seat. Raised the Handle bars and whoever says that the handlebars cannot be adjusted is WRONG. There is a Yellow sticker in the middle of the handle bar which mentions the torque. Right in there are adjustable screws. There a screw you have to adjust which is on the underside. It took me 5 minutes to adjust it....VERY EASY. You can also adjust the twist on the handle bars....
The things I did not like are: (1) the wheels on the bike are not tuned right so when you ride the bike or just pick up the bike and spin the wheels, it does touch the brake pads sometimes. This affects the way you ride. I wish they tuned it right from the factory so I dont have to take it to a bike shop to get it fixed or tuned. (2) the front shocks are not adjusted right from the factory. I had to play with it a little before I got it right. (3) I wish the pedals on this bike were not metal with so much of the sharp things sticking out which basically gives you a firm grip for your feet. I wish they were plastic like what you get in other Mountain bikes......Besides that it is a GREAT HYBRID BIKE for the price....and it is a SCHWINN. Just so you know the PROS on this bike outweigh the CONS so I am planning to buy another bike for my wife......Hope this review helps :)

A Very Smart Purchase June 15, 2007 Reviewer:  Daniel Fleming Real Name (Akron, OH, USA)  See all my reviews >

I recently (5/07) purchased this model from my local Target after much research. I was looking to replace the Raleigh c30 hybrid that was stolen from me last year. But for a few small differences (suspension make, tire size and pulley type), the Schwinn is identical to the Raliegh, which sells for close to $350 depending on retailer. For a hybrid, the bike is very light in weight. The adjustable suspension is more than enough for even pothole infested Akron and intermediate trails. The seatpost suspension is a real plus and Shimano Tourney shifters are like butta. I am totally pleased with the bike quality.

Remember! Schwinn does not assemble these bikes! They come unassembled in boxes from the factory and Target employs people to assemble them. That means that these bikes, when bought assembled, are not tuned by professionals. Do not ride until the bike is tuned to your liking. Take problems you cannot fix to a local bike shop!

Yes, the handlebars are adjustable. Also, I recommend replacing the factory brake pads if you are able. The provided pads are not of the best quality.

This bike is definately a smart purchase for the city/rough road/path rider. Enjoy!

Love this bike! May 20, 2009 Reviewer:  james (NYC)  See all my reviews >

After reading many reviews of this bike and other's in it's price range, I decided to go for it. And I'm glad I did. I've only had the bike for a few days but have already put about 20 miles on it with no worries. It seems great for NYC streets. The seat is comfortable. The front suspension is great for all the bumps and with 21 gears it flies. Also, I think the bike looks so much better than the picture. I've had several people tell me what a great looking bike it is.

I also bought the Schwinn 700c Hybrid Tourist for my boyfriend a few days earlier. It was $20 more. Also an amazing bike. He absolutely loves It. If you're trying to decide between the two, go with the Tourist if you're just going to be on smooth services and go with the Trail Way if you plan on hitting rougher streets. For the price, I don't think you could go wrong with either

One thing to keep in mind, the bikes will need adjusted. They are very poorly assembled.

great bike for the $$ July 22, 2008 Reviewer:  MickeyG "M.G." (Bala Cynwyd, PA USA)  See all my reviews >

I wanted a comfortable bike to use for family rides on bike paths and on city (& suburban) streets. The bike has been great. Many useful features generally found on more expensive bikes. I was determined not to buy more bike than I needed and this bike has been a pleasure to ride.

Two cautions - Target staff do not seem to be expert at assembly. Gears and brakes needed to be readjusted once I got it home. Also, the manual was not specific to the bike's components so as a novice trying to do the adjustments there was a learning curve.

great bike July 7, 2008 Reviewer:  MR BEAN FAN (Northern Minnesota)  See all my reviews >

Bought this bike at a local target after doing quite a bit of online research. I wanted something better than a NEXT, Huffy, or Murray--but couldn't quite justify a Trek or what they sell at bike shops.

This bike is awesome! I went from a 17 year old Huffy ready to fall apart to this one and could not believe how much fun it is to ride a decent bike. It was assembled in the store, and on the rack, ready to go. Nothing seemed to need adjustment to me. The brakes were sharp and tight from the start. Gears shifted effortlessly and without a fuss.

This bike seems very comparable to a $600 road bike you might buy from a local bike shop. I have only had it a day, and who knows, maybe it needs an adjustment at a professional bike shop, but for my needs--riding around a small town, an occasional 10-20 mile ride, fitness--it does the job.

Wow, Great Bike, Im 6' 4" and it fits me like a glove May 21, 2009 Reviewer:  Happy Tall Guy "Bill G" (Orlando, Fl, USA)  See all my reviews >

I cant say enough about the Schwinn 700c Trail Way Men's Bike, I am a 6ft 4in man about 250 lbs. and have always been more partial to mountain bikes, but have always found myself a little cramped up on the big box store one size fits all bike = more like one size fits sm-all... Even with this in mind I did not wish to spend 800.00 plus for a large frame bike from a bike shop so I dealt with the cramped size and somewhat uncomfortable ride. This was until the other day when I rode one of my friend’s bikes, it was a high end Hybrid and,,, wow was I impressed by the size and the ride... He told me what he spent on it and that was a bigger wow factor. I told him see that’s what I'm talking about I don’t wish to spend that on a bike. He used to race bikes and went on to inform me that the main difference between the affordable store bikes and an expensive bike shop bike was the components that were on it and that the main frames were about the same and that the average rider doesn’t need all of the high end components that drive up the initial price. He told me go shop around and find a quality affordable bike that fits me and as the misc components go bad simply replace them with higher end affordable replacements. This made a whole lot of sense and I went on the hunt for an affordable alum frame hybrid made for a tall guy... After many on-line reviews of specs and customer reviews I decided to go to Target and check out the Schwinn 700c Trail Way Hybrid. WOW was I impressed, It had great looks and seemed pretty solid and the best thing was the size, It was like the bike was made for me, when I sat on it seemed the seat was a little high (yea, imagine that, too high) seat post has quick release soo I lowered the seat as far down as the seat post would go, locked the clamp and got back on. To my surprise even with the seat all the way down I had to stand on the balls of my feet with my heels about 1inch off the floor. This really says something about its size since I'm 6' 4"... As with any big box store bike you will need to examine the bike for correct and secure assembly which is not rocket science but seems to elude most store assemblers since they are often just stocking employees who double as assemblers. If you are a tall guy looking for an affordable, quality multi propose bike you need to check out the Schwinn 700c Trail way Hybrid at only around a big price which I believe this bike is more comparable to a bigger price bike store bike.

I like it April 27, 2009 Reviewer:  NW Biker (Kent, Wa, USA)  See all my reviews >

First this bike is, but not really a Schwinn, It is a spec bike built to Target requirements with the Schwinn name. It manufactured in China and is a branded product back by Schwinn. You will not find this bike on the Schwinn site. These Target, Walmart, Costco, Schwinns share components with all its Pacific Cycle Inc. siblings. Since Pacific owns Schwinn, it is a Schwinn, but you will also find the same frame on a Mongoose, DYNO, GT, InSTEP, Huffy, Mongoose, Murray, Pacific Outdoors, Powerlite, Roadmaster and pretty soon Cannondale. With that said I like mine.

I have spent almost 450 miles and a month with it. I did not have the normal problems with Target’s “Free Assembly”. As soon as I got it home, I took it apart, checked everything and re-assembled. I green slimmed the tires and have no problems except for cable stretch. I will be replacing the cables since over the course of a longer ride the derailers go out of adjustment, and then shrink back when not in use. Stretch is normal during cable break in, but shrinking back, not. If your rides are less than 10 or 15 miles you will never notice.

I’m 5’ 9” with a 32” inseam and had no problem adjusting it to fit me.

Pros:
Cost
Suspension
Weight

Cons:
Cables (need higher quality)
Front forks (only 1 inch of travel, needs at least 2”)
Target support and product knowledge

Great Bike until you need a tube!!! July 7, 2008 Reviewer:  Not Able to Ride "David D" (Brunswick, GA)  See all my reviews >

I really like this bike, but apparently they introduced this bike to the market before they could give customers key parts, like tubes. I have owned the bike for about 2 months and have not had any problems until I got a hole in a tube. Local bike shops have never even seen the extra long schrader valve this bike requires. After a week of trying to find one locally and extensively on the Internet, I finally called the manufacturer. They do not have them in stock and will not get any for another 2 to 3 weeks. So, don't buy until you know you can get a supply of tubes!!!!!!!!

Great Bike So Far May 24, 2009 Reviewer:  Jeff S (St. Louis, MO)  See all my reviews >

After looking at hundreds of bikes I decided a hybrid was the way to go. The tires are wide enough to be ridden on unpaved areas of trails, the handlebars can be raised for upright riding or down low. The seat is wide enough to be somewhat comfortable, and the shock(s) in the seat and front fork make for a smoother ride. The bike is light enough and geared so I can keep up with the road bikes but I think I get to do it with a more comfortable ride. I love the trigger shifting and they make rapid gear changes very easy. I tried my best to stay away from the "box" stores, but this bike has it all and more, and on sale it is under [..]. I paid the regular [..] and so far it has been worth it.

I did add a frame mounted pump and water bottle, plus a large handlebar bag and multi function speedometer.

I also added and would suggest for those like me with a little less meat on their hind end to add a nice gel seat cover, it is worth every penny just like the bike itself!

All together with a new helmet I spent right at [..] or so and a similar bike from Trek or others would have set me back well over [..] with the same basic components.

Another bit of advice... if you buy a bike stay away from the grip shifters and if you are any shorter than me at 5' 9" this bike will be to tall for you. The 700c tires add so much height to this frame that whatever your normal frame subtract 2" if it has 700c rims.

This is the perfect bike (as the name says) for trail way rides (and a lot more)!

Great Hybrid October 21, 2008 Reviewer:  Kevin C (ATL, GA)  See all my reviews >

I've had this bike for for approximately 6 months. I was advised to buy a "better" bike from a local bike shop but I was on a limited budget and this bike seemed to have everything I needed. So far no regrets I'm 5'11" and its a perfect fit. It has great components for the price and so far I have been averaging at least 35 miles a week more if my schedule allows. It compares well with some of the more expensive bikes I've seen at bike shops. You won't be disappointed.
