Lovely to look at, but not to ride! August 1, 2008 Reviewer:  Lamby "Lee" (Virginia, USA)  See all my reviews >

I loved this bike for the looks of it. It is a real showpiece, a classic in style and looks. But I ended up returning it after a handful of rides because I found it tiring, kind of slow going on relatively easy terrain (1st gear feels more like a 5th gear, I found myself dismounting to walk it up hills) and uncomfortable.

I am 5'4" and average/medium build, average arms and legs but I felt kind of awkward and scrunched up on this bike and was often shifting positions and trying to get comfortable: moving back on the seat, moving my hands forward off the grips to more forward on the handlebars, shifting my feet back as my heels tended to rest on the pedals- the pedals seemed too much under me.

I don't know if maybe a very petite person with short arms and legs might find this bike to fit them okay? But then there is still the problem of it being a chore to pedal. Maybe it's okay for those more interested in the workout than the enjoyment. I guess it would be okay for a beach boardwalk, but I'd rather have something easier and more comfortable to ride.

For comparison, I tried riding one of my sons old bikes that is also a 26" size bike and it was a much more comfortable fit for me in comparison to the Roxie Cruiser, because it fit my body in more natural extensions, and had easier low gears so I could ride it up hills and longer distances with ease. So I recommend finding something that is a good fit for you and easier to ride. Something with an easier 1st gear.

The Roxie Cruiser bike is lovely to look at, but to me it wasn't worth what I had to pay physically for riding it. I wasn't enjoying the ride like I could on a different bike!

Sweet and sassy June 30, 2008 Reviewer:  Jazzy and Sassy "Cecilia" (Texas)  See all my reviews >

This bike is totally cute! I get compliments on it all the time and love riding it. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is beacuse it is abit noisey - all the time! Other than that agreat buy!

Pretty bike! July 27, 2009 Reviewer:  Boon (NYC)  See all my reviews >

I picked out the best constructed one at Target. You have to know that if you buy the bike assembled at Target, it's going to be poor assembly (some teenager in the back whipping them together). If you buy it assembled, pay the price and have the bike shop do a proper tweak for you so it works properly! You have to pay attention to make sure all the parts are on the bike, too, because the Target assemblers will miss a bolt or screw, so compare the bikes and pick the best one.

I had my bike overhauled at the bike shop and it runs great. It's a beach cruiser, so don't expect to easily go up hills and mountains. But, if you're riding around town on flat land, it's fantastic. I'd wait for a sale on the bike -- I've seen it as low as [..], which is what I bought mine for.

Cheap parts. The stars are for looks only. June 3, 2009 Reviewer:  mtDakota (Bismarck, ND)  See all my reviews >

I love the way this bike looks, but even after much bolt loosening, adjusting, and re-tightening, I'm afraid that the bike is quite a disappointment. The brakes are so cheap! I would never take this bike down a hill.. I don't think the rear brakes could stop me if I really needed them to. ANd why only rear brakes? Most adult bikes have both rear and front brakes. It would be different if the brakes were good quality, but they are not. Also, I had the front alignment problem, too. The only way I could solve this is to adjust it myself and now the fron shock absorber looks crooked even though the bike functions well. I now wish that I had taken the bike back, but it is too late. Also, it is already rusting on the handlebars and fenders even though it has only gotten wet a few times and it is less than a year old. I have even waxed the bike to prevent rust!

Good enough for the occasional rider such as myself! May 17, 2009 Reviewer:  Marilyn (Ventura County, CA)  See all my reviews >

I read every review on this site and I was very reluctant to buy it but I thought why not try it and return it if I have to like so many others. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I know you shouldn't expect it to be in ridable condition right out of the store but mine was. A manager in the Simi Valley store put it together knowing that I was coming back to get it in a few hours. I have a substantial rear end and the seat was still not terribly comfortable but I got used to it. I was able to find a basket to attach in the front to carry my Maltese in. It's the quick release by Electra (Sport Chalet) and it comes in white, black, silver and wicker. I know this bike is not the best quality in the world but for the price and the few times a month I ride, its a fantastic deal.

What a headache! May 12, 2009 Reviewer:  E. Ortiz Real Name (Tyler, TX)  See all my reviews >

My friend and I both bought one (drove 60 miles round-trip). When I got home I tried to adjust the seat and it was stuck. Then realized a couple of screws were missing. So I exchanged it for another one. I get home (another 60 miles round trip) and the tire was flat. I again went back (30 more miles)to exchange it and they did not have anymore and it has been two weeks and they still to do not have one. They gave me coupons for all the driving, but I would like the bike. I call everyday to see if one had come in and still today nothing. (I would not be so upset but now the employees are being snide when I call "If this about the Roxie, we don't have one yet." I just want the bike. I have enjoyed my friend's bike and there is no problems with it.

Tough build, missing parts, but great ride- worth the effort May 8, 2009 Reviewer:  Young Female Professional (Santa Clara, CA, USA)  See all my reviews >

So, I'm a very capable 24-year-old female and was ready with my toolbox when this baby arrived. Two hours later, I had her in good shape... but for two missing nuts. I took the screws to my local Home Depot and paid less for the parts. I got the whole thing together, loved the look, but couldn't get the seat and handlebars tight enough. I took her for a short ride around my neighborhood - GREAT for flat surfaces and very easy shifting. Just... a little wobbly since I couldn't get the seat fully tight.
Like all the other girls with this bike, I'm madly in love with the look and ride, but I'm now of the belief that bicycles should arrive fully assembled on Christmas morning... not in boxes and missing parts.

Not worth it August 14, 2008 Reviewer:  Livin' in Mi "Jen D" See all my reviews >

I loved the looks of this bike. I brought it home with me and had my husband go over it and tighten everything up. Took it on a ride and got half way down the street and turned home! The bike was so LOUD! The chain clanked against the metal constantly. Took it back. Cute but not worth it.

Great Bike! October 2, 2009 Reviewer:  Gummy Bear "Gummi bear" (montclair, nj, usa)  See all my reviews >

This bike is totally retro vintage. I love it. It has a comfortable wide seat, 7 gears, a handle brake, and wide handlebars. It's a great price, too, especially for a schwinn.
