This is a GREAT tent!

I bought this tent last year at the end of season sale for $39. I was able to put it up a few times in the yard and here are a few things I have noticed:
1. It really is NOT a 4 person tent. It's a 2 - 3 person at the MOST if you have gear or are using air mattresses. It easily fits a single twin mattress. It's basically ideal for 2 people and a dog or 2 people and a child.
2. It DOES come with an E-Port (electrical port) which they don't tell you and don't show you in the picture. It was a deal for the tent and I was a bit disappointed when I was buying it that it didn't have it stated on the box but while setting it up I found it on the left front side of the tent. (If my memory serves me)
3. What bothers me the most is the bare pole that juts out over the side window. Its not a bad thing but its just it does make me worry about it being a possible breaking point due to sun exposure, someone possibly hitting it, etc.
4. The front of the tent is like the Coleman 16x10 Tucana Tent with the 2 D style windows. Also there is a window in the back.
5. Set up is really fast once you get the hang of it. The instructions are stitched right onto the inside of the bag. For a one person set up it took about 5-10 minutes. But I will say I am very familiar and intutive with tents.
6. It comes with pockets for gear on the sides.
7. The welcome mat that they include isn't really great. Do yourself a favor and just get one of those bristle mats that you can scrape your boots or shoes against and leave them on it before you go in the tent.
8. Ventilation is excellent. No condenstaion at all with 2 people.
9. I have not tried it out in rain yet but I am cautiously optimistic.
10. The awning is a nice idea BUT the red color actually makes it hotter under it sadly. We actually had a cooler filled with ice melt faster in it than the other left out in the sun.
**TIP**: With this type of awning, pitch your tent so when it is windy or rains it hits the back of your tent and your enterence is facing down wind. The huge hoop and rainfly can be wrecked in high winds or the rain could fly right up under it if you don't do this.
PS: Plan on using stakes with this tent for your awning and also to guy out lines when needed.
And as with ALL tents you buy from the cheapest to the most expensive you should ALWAYS do at least this one important thing for your tent: Waterproof it! I think this is why a lot of people may have issues with any tent. Some tents may come with seam sealing and the fabric treated but there can always be mistakes. Use Nikwax spray (or a similar product. I use Nikwax UV Proof Spray) to give it a good over and then seam seal it. You can do this right when you set it up for the first time to check it out. Plus it will only add to it's weather bombproofness. It's not that hard or expensive, really! Plus by doing this you also strengthen the fabric of the tent by adding UV protection which adds years to the fabrics life.

My 14-yr-old daughter and I camp in upstate PA and we love this tent! First of all - it is so easy to set up. It takes less than 10 minutes from start to finish. Second - there is plenty of room for us and even if she brings a friend, we still don't feel cramped. (I wouldn't suggest it for 4 people though - unless you don't mind feeling cramped.) Third - weather-wise it is amazing. It has held up to all kinds of weather. I get a good night's sleep even in the heaviest downpour now because I don't worry about leakage. I love all the extras, too - like the amount of mesh on the tent. When I'm inside the tent and the rainfly isn't on, I don't feel like I'm inside the tent. And when the rainfly is on, the wings on the front make for perfect cover so you can stay outside during a light rain. The cord port is another extra we love if we need to charge anything. And the pocket inside is perfect when you want to keep something in the same place all the time. And my daughters favorite, the cooler port -- so she can keep her snacks close. It really is a great tent. Easy enough for a beginner, but yet savvy enough for a seasoned camper.

My wife and I have this tent, among other tents, and use this for a simple car camping, weekend get away. After reading the reviews this tent has gotten, i think people should make the following a standard for whatever tent you buy. Rain proof it, and seam seal it. Simple 5 dollar can for the spray and 3 bucks for the tube and you are good to go. pull the guy lines nice and tight, and you should stay nice and dry. I would suggest this tent to anyone who does light camping 1-5 times a year.

Well I went to 2 other stores, and called 2 more and finally found a target that had one in stock. It took me about 15 min. to set this tent up by my self, but it took about 3-5 minutes to tie the white ropes to the tent. I really like that there are pole sleeves and clips. I sprayed this with my hose and it leaked, because there is a little window in the bottom of the tent for venting, and I forgot to close it. Also when i walked in the tent I didn’t take off my shoes, so there were shoe prints in there too. I really like how there is the fly that goes way over the door (my last 2 tents leaked through the door).Another thing is I liked the floor, it doesn’t seem like it will leak and feels rugged. To clarify you should tie the ropes to the tent and stake them down, this is for more resistance to wind. I'm hoping to take this on many camping trips (I camp once a month and a 1 week trip per year).Over all I’m very pleased.

I did a lot of research on a small tent for four people--LOVED this one! Plenty of room for a queen size air mattress and fit two adults and two kids perfectly! The air mattress took up about half the space inside, which left plenty of room for our bags and toys. It rained very heavily on our second night and we had NO problems with leaking--and we hadn't sealed it yet either! Extremely easy to set up--we didn't bother with a dry run at home before we left (which was probably risky especially with two kids in tow) but it was a cinch to put up. The directions were easy to follow and all the parts were included (even some extra). I've recommended this tent to several of our friends. I can't say enough good things about it! If you're looking for a terrific buy for durability, space and easy in setup and take down, this is the tent for you!

I bought this tent for a trip last weekend that was suppose to be sunny and dry. This was going to be a second tent for two teenagers. As luck would have it, the weather forecast was a little off. Way off actually. It poured and was very windy. We had placed a tarp over the first tent, but did not have one for this tent.
I'm happy to say, the tent held up extremely well. We did not apply any sealer and there was only a small amount of water at two corners. We think perhaps it came around the window area, but it was very minor. We did have a tarp under the floor, however, this was just extra protect to keep rocks etc. from poking through.
Overall, very happy. Looking at a larger Coleman to replace our other tent. Coleman really seems to offer the best value for a good quality tent. There are better and much more expensive names, but after surviving a heavy rainstorm, Coleman has my trust now.

Though it's not perfect, I LOVE this tent. I've been using it for ten months now camping regularly with no problems.
Pro's:
Privacy wings are great when camping solo, they allow more space for gear, shoes, etc. to be stored protected and not visible, and for outdoor shelter in a light rain--plenty of room for a few chairs under the wings.
Floor space/weight ratio is great, fairly easy set up even for one person, handy side pockets, great ventilation, (that little window at the bottom rear opened up increases cross breeze), and I like that I can see outside through the windows even with the rain flap on. Also, very sturdy. I was in a ridiculously windy area with branches hurling onto the tent all night and the tent stood strong.
Con's:
If this tent were taller so I could stand up inside it would be the perfect tent. Also, it isn't rainproof. I got caught in rain in Big Sur and it lasted about three hours before leaking through the sides. But I never expected a tent in this price range to be waterproof, and had a tarp ready to go. Just toss a tarp over it, with guy lines, and it's good to go.
Also, invest a few bucks on stronger tent stakes. Most of mine bent becoming useless on my first trip.
All in all, the best tent I found in it's price range.
Fits a queen mattress plus gear with room to spare for a chair even.
I'm very happy with it and I'm not easy to please.

Just came back from camping for the first time. I went to [2 sports stores], and Target. I ended up buying the Ara tent at Target because the reviews were high and the price was reasonable. Best thing I've purchased for the trip. Setting up took 10 minutes with 2 people (try a practice test before you get there). Since we did the practice set-up, we didn't have to look at the directions when we got to the site. We looked like pros. It's that simple to set up. The Ara was comfortable for 2 people (A queen airbed + our stuff =2 luggages, 3 plastic bags of food + a bit of room to sit on the floor). The weather was HOT during the day, but with all the window flaps down, the air circulated VERY well inside the tent. Tent remained dry. (make sure you lay tarp under the tent. this will prevent rocks and sharp objects ripping the bottom of the tent AND will keep the bottom of tent clean when you wrap it back up and the end of your trip.) The only cons I could think of is that it got chilly at night (due to it's great air-circulation). If coleman had a slighly larger version of this I would recommend it. But they don't so I'm keeping my fabulous tent!

I bought this tent near the end of last summer and have taken it camping 3 times (plus a total of about 3 weeks set up in the yard). The first thing I did was water proof it with a ..... spray, inside and out. I don't know how dry the tent would have stayed without it, but I did not have one drop of water in it after spraying. It has lasted just fine though 40mph winds and a 12 hour continuous downpour, with no need to use anything to seal any seams. I also hosed the tent down for 20 min or so to see what it could withstand including horizontal "rain". as long as the rain fly is on and the guy lines are tight it stands up great. The floor is also very durable and I love that it cups upward for added moisture protection even without a ground tarp (though I would still recommend one). And the "porch" kept everything mostly dry. Set up was easy too! 10 min alone and in the dark (with 1 practice run) and 5 min with an extra person. Well worth the money!

UPDATE: 8-28-09
This summer I've used this tent for a week long trip and about 6 or 7 weekenders. and I found a few things worth noting
-Waterproof waterproof waterproof! and do it often. i sprayed it twice this year and on the last trip the rain was to heavy and constant that the water started coming through the rain fly.
-Air mattresses are NOT your friend with this tent. No matter how you place them, 2 twin beds will not fit without putting presure on the sides. most of the time thats no big deal, however, if it is raining, the beds push the sides out just far enough were the water run off from the rainfly pools in the windows and begins to leak inside. its not a huge ammount of water but it will make you bed wet enough to ruin your night.
That aside, it has held up great. if you plan to use this tent without a mattress (or cot) and waterproof it every 2 or 3 trips its well worth the money. As for me, i need a bigger tent because of the air bed problem and plan to upgrade to the Coleman Evanston. Same amazing floor system and the awesome "porch" with my floor space and no side windows for water to pool into.

My fiance (then boyfriend) and I bought this tent for a camping trip to the mountains in North Georgia. The weather was supposed to be cool and dry all weekend, but of course, the weather forecast was wrong.
On our second day in Georgia, it poured continuously. We had no problems with our tent leaking or blowing away in the horrendous mountain storms. This weekend was the weekend my fiance proposed to me, and if it were not for our wonderful Coleman tent, the weekend might have been very miserable.
I definitely recommend this tent to anyone planning on doing some serious camping. It's easy to set up and take down, but it's also extremely sturdy. A MUST buy!
