I bought this and used it one time. The safety mechanism on the bowl broke and it will not run now. Unfortunately, this was just outside of the return policy for the store where I purchased it. I've contacted Black and Decker by email asking how to replace and they never so much as answered. I do not recommend the product.

I have used this processor less than five times. The last time I used it, I was attempting to grate cheese when the threads on the rod and the blade stripped. Now it is useless. I haven't tried contacting the company ... sounds useless as well from the other reviews. Wouldn't recommend.

Hi All,
This is my first review .. and I wanted to write after seeing that the rating for this product is so low that so many ppl who should buy it will be taken away from it .
I have had this for almost 2 years now ( after one my friends suggested me ) . It works well, as a chopper, grater and slicer. As dough maker also it is good, but just make sure that you dont put too much flour in ( 1.5 cup to 2 cup is good).. as the dough attachment is plastic heavy dough making blunts its grip ... but I just had to make a call to Black and Decker and they replaced it instantly.. now I am more careful ..
The best thing is all the tasks can be done in one jar .. This was the main selling point for me..

After reading several bad reviews I had decided not to get it - even though, at the price, 10 cup size and strong engine power of 500 watts it seemed the best deal compared to other brands that cost twice as much, or even more.
Anyway, I had written it off until I happened to see a unit on display in the store and was able to touch it and inspect it for myself. It looked perfectly fine to me. The blade seemed thick and sturdy. I checked out how the lid opens and closes etc and couldn't find anything visibly wrong with it. Maybe you have to get used to it, and not use brute force on any parts, but it's not rocket science. So I ended up buying it.
When I tried it out at home I was careful not to force any parts. There are two safety features. The first one is that the lid needs to be locked. The second one is that the cup needs to be locked as well, with the handle aligned in the front (as seen in the product picture above). If it's not in that position it won't start!!! At first mine wouldn't start, and I thought I had bought a lemon - until I figured it out. (Yeah, I don't read product manuals either).
It's been 2 days and so far it's been working just fine. I don't know what kind of miracles other "more advanced" machines can perform, but I am happy with what this unit does for me: it chops up stuff!
Is it loud? I can only compare it to my Oster blender. It's less noisy than the blender. After a few uses I became more familiar with working the lid etc. I'll be using it a lot and should it break down anytime soon I guarantee I will back here posting about it. Until then, this one gets two thumbs up. It's a solid product and a bargain at this price.

It is too bad that significant parts are plastic. Our safety mechanism broke too. Doesn't seem like a very robust design.

I recieved this food processor as a wedding gift over a year ago and at first, I must say, I was very disappointed because I couldn't get it to work. The power light was on but it wouldn't do anything. Then I discovered the safety locks and ever since it has worked wonderfully. You must have the cup locked in so that the handle is facing the front and the lid has to be in the correct position too in order for the thing to work.

I purchased this product for the sole purpose of making salsa (a lot of salsa) that was not over processed. This unit allows us to make the amount of salsa we like at one time and does not liquify the ingrediants. It does what we bought it to do WONDERFULLY! We have used it over and over and over. However, I would not have expected it to make bread dough. No matter what the package says it will do...it's a food processor. We have also used it to shred zuccini, and chop peppers and other items from the garden in order to freeze them for later. We are very pleased with the product.

Quit working after the third time I used it. Poor design, contents spill out the center where the blades insert.

The only reason this item got 1 star from me is because you can't rate it any less than that, I got this as a gift and it sat in my pantry for almost a year. I used it about two months ago to shred cheese and it has never worked since. [...] I only got to use it one time!!!!! I've never been so disappointed in a product before.
