Description

Paper Mario isn't just out of this world ... it's out of this dimension. What at first glance appears to be a 2-D sidescroller ripped straight from the pages of the Paper Mario universe soon turns into a 3-D action-adventure that defies all video game logic. Paper Mario isn't just out of this world ... it's out of this dimension. What at first glance appears to be a 2-D sidescroller ripped straight from the pages of the Paper Mario universe soon turns into a 3-D action-adventure that defies all video game logic. Fusing 2-D and 3-D perspectives, not to mention RPG and platformer elements, the game slips back and forth between dimensions. The action sprawls across eight worlds filled with traps, puzzles, bizarre mysteries and items that often draw themselves out of thin air. Oh, and just because Mario's in the title doesn8217;t mean he's the only star -- players also get to play as Peach and Bowser.

WOW. The best Paper Mario! April 26, 2007 Reviewer:  John Oddo (Roseville,MI)  See all my reviews >

Losing the RPG turn-based fighting stuff is actually better for the series, believe it or not. Flipping between dimensions is really cool, the element is very awesome. Super Paper Mario overwhelms players with long cutscenes and drowns you with dialouge, but the gameplay is the best I've seen on Wii.

It's A Me...Mario April 13, 2007 Reviewer:  Mark See all my reviews >

This game deserves the 5 stars for originality--being able to go between the 3D and 2D, talking to characters, using the Pixls to throw things or see hidden things, and the artwork that keeps you guessing. There's something around every corner.

I highly recommend this game to every Wii player and especially every Mario fan. I've only started playing the first few chapters and I can't wait to continue!

Clever game, not as engaging as I would have hoped January 2, 2008 Reviewer:  DakranII (DC)  See all my reviews >

I'll start out by saying that I enjoyed this game, but I didn't end up beating it. Not because of the difficulty, but because I just stopped playing.

It's a very clever game and very appealing to watch. The gameplay is entertaining as well and with the 2D/3D switching, it creates some fascinating gameplay mechanics.

I just found it all a little tedious after awhile. I'm one of the lapsed gamers that Nintendo was targeting with the Wii and it certainly worked for me. I love the Wii. But the fact remains that I don't have a lot of time to play games. After awhile I just didn't want to give any more time to this game. Which surprised me a little. I grew up playing games through to completion because I loved seeing the endings. I want to see the ending of Super Paper Mario, but not enough to want to finish it. I'd guess I'm about 60% through it and I don't feel compelled to put it back in anytime soon. There are other games I'd rather spend my time on.

Part of it is that I don't like missing anything in games. With the 2D/3D, you see different things in the same level depending on what dimension you're viewing it through. So I go through a level in 2D, get to the end and wonder what I missed, so I switch to 3D and go back through it and see that I missed nothing. Over and over again. The switch needs to be done to get through certain parts, but for most of the time, there's no reason to be in 3D. And there aren't a lot of indicators to let you know if you'll find anything in either dimension, so you spend a lot of time running around for no reason. I guess it's part of my own compulsion, but it made things feel a little repetitive, empty, and chore-like.

The dialog was a little too much for me too after awhile. I don't mind storylines, I usually pay a lot of attention to them (I'm an rpg fan), but it also seemed to be too much for me in this game.

It's a worthy game certainly, and maybe in another stage in my life I would have finished it months ago. I wouldn't recommend against it, as it's very enjoyable. But for me it just got to be too much.

Super Paper Mario Must Have!!!!!!!!!!!! October 26, 2008 Reviewer:  Wes556 "Wesley G." (Fremont, CA)  See all my reviews >

Super Paper Mario is a must have for everyone who likes adventure in a game. I really like it over most of my games. There are some parts where it takes a little brain power to figure out how to get to a door or find the right book but whatever because thats the fun part. I had to look online for some parts but I'm determined to finish it. So get your money out and go buy it, NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not Good August 24, 2008 Reviewer:  Cookie See all my reviews >

I was really excited to play this game... until i spent 45 minutes reading through the little story trying to actually play. once i finally got to what i thought was the actual game, i couldn't figure out what to do.

I readily admit that I am not a gamer by any means, but i was highly disappointed.

Great game, but not if you have a plasma TV December 4, 2007 Reviewer:  BF (OHIO)  See all my reviews >

Great game. It is a very fun RPG. one note: If you have a plasma TV be careful with this game as it is very long and easy to play for hours, but you will have burn in from the game where your meters are stationary for the whole time.

Take a pass on this January 23, 2009 Reviewer:  J. Haury Real Name (CA USA)  See all my reviews >

Boring as[.....] WAY too much dialogue. You will be sitting there in spots for up to 5-10 minutes of button pressing just to get through all the text bubbles of USELESS diagloue. The game itself is not that bad. There are puzzles to solve and such, not like your standard Mario. The controls aren't that bad. But I would say to avoid it purely on the amount of dialogue - it kills the game. Fun in spots yes, but not enough to sit through it all.

Just OK December 26, 2008 Reviewer:  J. Bruce Real Name (Springboro, Ohio United States)  See all my reviews >

we have 2 young boys - 5 and 3 and they can both play a 'normal' version of Mario, like on their DS. However this game is nothing like 'normal' Mario Bros. It goes through endless series of dialogue with the characters. It took so long to get through the speaking parts, I just kept hitting the '2' button to get through the conversations, and finally to some real Mario-like game play. It lost the interest of the family quickly. Once into the game play, the new concept is switching back and forth between 2-D and 3-D play. Again, my young ones don't understand this like they do the regular Mario series. Interesting concept, not for the younger Mario players.

Mario is Back November 14, 2008 Reviewer:  Kristie See all my reviews >

Super Paper Mario is an awesome game. The gameplay is great. The graphics are amazing and it is a very simple game to play. The first day I played this game I was addicted. The switching between 2D and 3D graphics is great. I recommend this game to everyone.

don't bother July 22, 2008 Reviewer:  happy girl See all my reviews >

In October my parents got this for me for my 13th birthday and I was playing it and thinking this game is really pointless and boring. I played it for about 45 minuets trying to figure out how to play and let me say for a 13 year old it was the most boring thing in the world! If you want to buy it I can't stop you, but my opinon it's a waste of your money!
