the movie was ok. a little cheesy at times, good action, and had some good laughs when it didn't take itself seriously.
by the way, i think the previous reviewer must be easily amused to give such a glowing and over-the-top review, i mean, this wasn't battleship potemkin or anything. perhaps he's a bit slow, maybe seeing this film as a child might?

Transformers is a thrill ride from start to finish. This film was meant to be entertaining and fun, it is not trying to push moral or religious beliefs on us. The previous review is misguided and negative. This movie is based on a cartoon series, and brings our favorite characters from that classic series to the big screen in an intense and visually stunning fashion. If you liked movies like XMEN, IRONMAN, and the Incredible Hulk then you will love Transformers. Not every director in Hollywood is trying to push an agenda, some just like to blow things up and make an entertaining flick. If you haven’t seen transformers you will be impressed with the special effects and exciting story. If you’re a fan of the cartoon series, then you will love to see your favorite characters brought to life and saying their classic lines. I don’t see all the flaws in this movie the previous review did, I wanted to be entertained and I was.

Transformers is an amazing feat of special effects and cinematography. With amazing scenes, perfect sound effects, and an excellent soundtrack (by Steve Jablonsky), it is a wonder to behold. Unfortunately, its moral content is rather lacking. Disrespect for parents and authority is promoted throughout -- by the movie’s protagonists. I know this is common in movies today, but this one went a bit over the top. Also, whatever people want to say about “It’s a PG-13 movie. What did you expect?”, everybody making this film knew that kids would be the main audience of Transformers, and there were several scenes in this movie that were too adult in nature, and that were not necessary. Also, there is a rather disconcerting underlying theme. What do the Autobots need to do? They need to destroy the Allspark, which is their creator. Now there’s a message and a half! “Destroy the creator, and the world will be saved!” All of these elements cause me to give this movie the rating I have given it.
There are probably many people reading this right now, who are thinking, “All right. If you want morals, look someplace else! It’s a film, not a sermon!”. It is true that a movie’s mission is to entertain, and I must admit that Transformers did a very good job at that. But movies do have an effect on people. Thus, with so many other exciting movies that not only entertain, but also have admirable messages (The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, etc.), I give this movie three stars.
