Huge Disappointment!

I got this for my son for Christmas. The first one wouldn't turn on at all. I exchanged it and the second one turned on but it would only work when you strummed up on the strings and then only spurradically. So I returned it a second time. This toy was junk and a huge disappointment!

I bought this for my 7 year old son at a local retailer on clearance. I was very wary at first because of the deeply discounted price. However, my son has learned so much and mastered the first cartridge. I am now looking to buy more.
I did buy a guitar hero for Christmas in 2006 and traded it in at a local retailer after a day of loud hard rock that I felt was not suitable for my then 6 year old. I am not personally opposed to the hard rock music but for a little one playing I didn't feel GH was appropriate for him yet. This one is definitely more age appropriate.
My son was frustrated at first but quickly caught on. The system asks you if you want to go slower or faster to help the little learning hands set their own learning and playing pace.
I would definitely recommend this guitar. I do suggest that parents offer assistance and sit close by the first few rounds to ensure their child understands how to speed up or slow down the game. It is the parents responsibility to help match the level of the game to fit each child's individual learning needs.

I brought this toy for my son and he played it twice and it stopped working (lucky I stilled had the reciept and I exchanged it for another) Well, the second one worked for about a week and it also stopped working unfortunatly I lost the reciept. When it worked my 5 year old son loved it (so, did his 8 yr old sister).

We ordered this toy for my son who desperately wants to learn guitar and loves to play Daddy's Guitar Hero and Rock Band thinking this would be a kid equivalent for those games. WRONG! I can't even get the av cables to work when plugged into the tv. It just makes a buzzing noise. I would return this toy right away but we are stationed overseas so sending it back would be a huge hassle.
The only thing this "toy" is used for is strumming. The free guitar play works but it is hard for my son to strum and the buttons don't stay activated for long for long sounds. Overall, don't buy it. There's a reason it is so cheap now.

This toy was hard to use. Had to strum hard on the strings and their are too many colors to try and push when following on the tv. This thing quit working after only a couple of days. We returned it and noticed our local target doesn't even carry it anymore. [...]

I got this for my child and he was expecting the game to be something like it is shown on TV. He expected to see Drake from the TV show and he is nowhere in the game. The graphics are poor and my child was not happy with it. He played it for about 20 min and was on to something else and never picked it up again!

I got this game for my son and he just loves it. You have to be sure that the controls on the guitar are properly adjusted (make sure the volume is on, that the cartridge is in all the way...etc.) and it works great! Both my 7 & 9 year olds are having a blast with it.

My son rec'd this for a Christmas gift. The RCA cable does not work so he cannot connect it to the TV to learn to play songs. He is very excited to play it, but because we need to return it, he hasn't had a chance yet. [...]

My 6 year old son got this for Christmas. He loves it, and is actually learning while he is having fun. This is a great intro to guitar for around the 1-3 grade age group. It lets them play either with the game on tv (learning mode), or just goofing around (jam mode). The learning part is challenging, but a lot more fun than actual guitar lessons for this age.

My daughter has really enjoyed this guitar and easily figured out how to adjust speed and master the levels. She had tried Rock Band at her uncle's house and found it very frustrating. This has songs that she prefers and is definitely more age appropriate. I was nervous about purchasing due to the bad reviews, but decided to leave a good review to balance the others after we have enjoyed our guitar so much!
