Better than the Rainforest Peekaboo Soother!

I could not decide between the Ocean Wonders soother and the Rainforest Peekaboo Soother, so I got both in order to see which was best.
They are priced comparably, [...]. It is still available at other places like Target for about the same price as the Rainforest Soother.
The Ocean Wonders Aquarium soother is what I'm sticking with, and here's why:
1. My 5 month old likes it better! The Rainforest Peekaboo soother has lights and motion, but it's not as dramatic as the bubbles that you get in the Aquarium soother. My 5 month old got tired of the Rainforest soother after a few minutes, while the Ocean Wonders soother holds her riveted. (I think it's the bubbles!)
That was, of course, the deciding factor. Other considerations that pushed me over the edge were:
2. Ocean Wonders has longer music and motion cycle than the Rainforest soother. The Ocean Wonders soother goes for 18 minutes. You can optionally turn off the motion or lights or music. Conversely, the Rainforest soother only has an 18 minute cycle if you choose "music only." It has a 12 minute cycle if you choose "music and lights" (no motion). But if you want all 3 -- music, lights, motion -- you only can get that for 6 minutes. Not sure what the folks at Fisher Price were thinking there (perhaps battery life?), but no thank you!
3. Ocean Wonders comes with a remote. So, if that 18 minute cycle is longer than you would like, just shut it off from the doorway of your child's room.
4. Ocean Wonders has more music to choose from. There is a toggle button that allows you to choose 5 different music tracks (classical, nursery rhyme, etc) and just plan sound effects (bubbles, waves). The Rainforest soother, from what I can see, only has one choice, although it plays about 3 different tunes.
5. Ocean Wonders has a bigger start button, which makes it easier for your child to activate on their own. My daughter has turned the aquarium on all by herself just by stretching and kicking her feet. Which is fine by me! The Rainforest button is smaller and not as prominently located on the unit.
In short, they are both fine soothers, but I think the Ocean Wonders Aquarium soother has more going for it. And my daughter thinks so too!

When my son was little he had something similar to this. He loved it. Well after 9 years of moving around and giving away tons of stuff it has been misplaced. I saw this and had to order it for our 4 month old daughter. It keeps her attetion so that I can get things done. The music is very calming and now she has an aquarium of her own.

This was a glorious, wonderful toy, even though the model that we had was a couple of years older. My daughter adored it and it traveled all across the country with us. It was such a fital element that we ran out and bought a new one in Madison when we accidentally left our original one in Cincinnati... we just could not figure out why we were going through 4 "C" batteries for it every 5 days.
Then we got our answer. We were visiting relatives, and she and her aquarium were in a pack'n'play on the floor of our bedroom. We put her to sleep earlier, and when we went to bed we turned on the Aquarium to mask whatever noises we might make tripping around the unfamiliar room in the dark. When the aquarium reached the end of its cycle and shut off, ostensibly to conserve batteries, because "Fisher Price Knows!", there was this exasperated sigh from within the pack-n-play and this tiny, frustrated 1-year-old hauled herself up against the wall of the pack'n'play and turned the aquarium back on HERSELF. Eight minutes later when the aquarium shut off again, there was an even more exasperated sigh, and she did the exact same thing.
AT LAST we knew why we were running through batteries so fast. My husband and I were practucally eating the blankets in an attempt not to laugh out loud.

Our three-week-old was immediately mesmerized by this magical toy. Then, one month later, it suddenly stopped bubbling...a few days later, the fish stopped swimming. It's dead. We are still in mourning and unsure whether to purchase again or hope that Target will exchange w/out the receipt. The receipt's long gone - we never thought we would want to return this fabulous item. :(

after reading so many good reviews on different store sites i decided to get this ocean wonders aquarium at the local target. First i wasnt sure if my 2 months will even be interested but i wanted to give it try. I find this crib toy more entertaining my baby more than soothing her. she looks at it and kicks her little legs and smiles. i try to turn it on after she changes her diaper or after she gets fed. its a great first toy a baby can have. i would definitely tell my friend about it. this toy looks not too well made in the picture but in real life its very well made and it looks like it can hold up very long. its very pretty too.

I stumbled across this toy about 10 years ago and played with it so much in the store I had to buy it. I purchased it for my grand daughter and she loved it. I buy one for every baby shower I go to now. I always get a phone call or a note from mom and dad telling me how much they as well as the baby enjoy this toy. Recently I received an email from a recipient telling me that they had to buy a new one after 7 years because their son wore the original out. It's just a great gift!!! I highly recommend it!

This aquarium has been in our daughters crib since the day she was born. We turn it on every time she goes to bed or down for a nap and she is out! When she was younger she used to wake up and would kick it on/off. Now that she is older she knows how to turn it on/off with her hand, and she will sit in her crib and play with it for awhile. It is very durable as it stood up to her kicking it and now occassionally hitting it. But as with all Fisher Price toys, I've noticed the batteries tend to die fast, I'm changing them every 3 weeks or so. I'm sure it also is because my daughter turns it on/off frequently. Overall I love it and would recommend it to everyone!

We purchased this on advice of another friend. Our son was having a hard time going to sleep at night in his own bed. He has used it now for over 2 years and loves having control over music/light in his crib. We often hear it go off at night when he wakes. It plays music for 18 minutes and has several song options. We didn't use the remote feature for very long- although it works. We have traveled extensively with it and it is very durable. He uses it daily at nap time and nighttime and although It does eat batteries we find we only change them every 6 weeks or so. But it is worth it!

My four month old grandson fell in love with this at my house and I had to order one for his crib. He loves every phase of it and sometimes just the music alone.

My daughter loves this! She liked watching it and talking to it as a newborn and now, at 9 mo turns it on and watches it almost every morning (which give us time to sleep a bit!) It has good volume control and a great variety of music and sounds. It is kind of bright so it can be shocking to accidentally turn on in the middle of the night.
