i bought this thinking it would have music and lights on the mat itself like i've seen on other activity gyms, but it doesn't. the lights and music are on the separate attachable music piece. that being said, my son likes this gym very much. it keeps him occupied for a good 20+ minutes so i can eat or pick up! he looks at the toys and the colors on the overhead rods and coos. he is 2 months and started getting bored with just sitting in his bouncy chair. the mat is a bit slippery for tummy time, but we put a rolled blanket under his chest and then he's fine. one word of caution - i washed the toys with soap and water before i put them back on the gym. one toy has paper stickers on it which obviously warped a bit with water and another toy got some water inside the rattle piece. so if you want to wash the toys, try to do it without putting them directly under the faucet like i did.

I got this for my son when he was 5 weeks, now hes about 9. He's getting to like it more, but I would recommend just hanging two toys up when they're less than 3 months, because otherwise they stare around at everything not concentrating. He seems to like the fish- always smiles at it, and tries talking to the octopus. I would NOT recommend this for tummy time though, which is why I gave it 4 stars. The material is too slippery, his hands just slide. I thought he was behind on lifting his head, but I put him on my bed or the floor and he lifts it using his arms higher than expected! I guess its just too slippery. Im sure he'll like it more later :)
Oh, and it says online only, but I found mine at a Target store!

My husband and I have 4 month old twins. They both lay on the mat and kick and play with the hanging toys. They love the music. They both laugh and squeal like dolphins when the see the lights going on and off. THEY LOVE THIS! It was easily the best investment we've made. We regret not buying one sooner.

Yes, you do have to assemble it, but it's not that much hassle when you see how much your baby or babies will love it! I'm watching them both right now pulling hard on the hanging octopus and kicking the bars to set off the music. It gives me as much joy watching them as it gives them playing with it.

MY HUSBAND AND I BOUGHT THIS ITEM. WHEN WE GOT HOME WE TOOK IT OUT OF THE BOX AND BEGAN TO ASSEMBLE IT. IT TORE DURING THE ASSEMBLY. EVEN THOUGH WE FIXED THE PART THAT TORE, IT WAS MORE OF A HASSLE TO SET IT UP AND FIX IT, AND WE SPENT MORE TIME DURING THE ASSEMBLY AND FIXING THAN THE TIME OUR DAUGHTER HAS USING IT. A WORD OF WARNING, YOUR MONEY CAN BE BETTER INVESTED ELSEWHERE ON A MORE DURABLE TOY YOUR BABY WILL ENJOY.

This item is great, my daughter has started reaching more and has become alot more mobile at 4 months. She loves feeling all the different textures. She likes the music and lights. Overall great item with great stimulation for babies.

Ok it was cute and I hesitated to spend the money, but I went for it and thank goodness. Our son enjoyed just looking at it from 2 weeks, started batting things at about a month, got really into it about 4 months, and I cried at 7 months when it was no longer our daily playtime routine. Great for so many of the really early stages of development when they are not capable of too much but eager to interact with the world. I bought two similar items that were half the price hoping for a double bonus and they in no way compared to this one. It is a little bulky and not as portable as they lead you to believe, but a great investment.

I bought this gym because it looked fun, well my baby is 5 month and she is not crazy about it. I think it's too much money for so little fun. Another thing the sticks that hold the gym are very soft they don't stay curved they twist and makes it all go to the side if you put the music toy to high.

[...] My son who was born at 34.5 weeks loves this toy. I have already washed this numerous times and this hasn't torn at all. If my son gets fussy I put him down on the play gym and he loves to grab on to the toys hanging down and kick the tubing that goes over top of him. He likes to see the gym shake. My husband and I have no complaints about this product

My son is now two months and loves this gym. He started batting at the toys when he was 1 1/2 months old. He started learning how to control his arms to touch the toys. He loves the mirror and the music. I hang different toys from it to keep it new and fresh. He especially likes the Baby Einstein duck, frog, and cow that pull down and vibrate (sold separately). I even take the gym wherever we go....to grandma's, to the sitter's, and on vacation. I like how you can move the toys around and attach other toys to it. I also like how the mirror can slide up and down the poles. Worth every penny!
