Husband loves to play with it, Purple in French is wrong November 19, 2008 Reviewer:  TexasTripletMom "TTM" (Houston, TX)  See all my reviews >

Based on other reviews I'd heard that Brown was said in a sad voice, but it seems they must've fixed that as mine very recently bought doesn't have this issue. ALso I read white was wrong in French, but on mine it's fine. HOWEVER, the word for purple in french is something like 'Jolie' on this octopus, but I'd only ever heard, and can only find documentation of Pourpe or Violet being used for purple in French, so i think that's wrong.

Oh well.. It's cute. And though my kids are still a little too young to play with it (at 2.5months) my husband won't stop playing with it, so I think it'll be a winner. I'd always wanted to teach my kiddos French as well as English and this toy at least will have them learning their colors in two-three languages.

Baby Loves It! July 7, 2008 Reviewer:  Stephani Jones Real Name (NC)  See all my reviews >

My baby is only four months old and has loved his little octopus since about two months old. He loves the music and kicks his legs and waves his arms when it plays. He has learned to hit it and make the music play recently. He smiles when he sees the octopus' friendly smiling face smiling at him. I suspect he will continue to love it when his fingers are strong enough to push the colors' buttons.

Fun toy October 26, 2008 Reviewer:  Minnesota Mommy (Minneapolis, MN)  See all my reviews >

My daughter has enjoyed this toy, especially when she was between the ages of 3-5 months. She likes the smiley face and likes to chew on the tentacles. Too soon to tell if she will use it for learning colors and English & French. I agree with a previous post that the songs do get a bit annoying for the parents - and since the songs on the Baby Einstein toys are the same, and we own a lot of them, we've got a few that are permanently stuck in our heads. :)

Loved it for a little while December 21, 2008 Reviewer:  Lazerjunky "Fredaly" (Amish Country)  See all my reviews >

I got this as a gift for my daughter when she was born. By the time she was 6 months old, the music was still working but the colors on the tentacles had stopped. It is a great idea but ours seemed to be a dud. Now that my daughter is old enough to want to learn the colors it's useless.

Captures and holds attention July 5, 2008 Reviewer:  Melissa K. (S PA)  See all my reviews >

This toy captured my baby's attention even when she wasn't very alert (due to young age). It will even hold her attention now when she's real active, and will cheer her up when she's sad. She's at an age where she holds and grabs on to toys all the time now, and the tentacles are GREAT because she loves to grab and hold onto them. She always likes toys with faces, and pictures of people, and she loves looking at its face too.

baby loves octo July 24, 2008 Reviewer:  Lexi's Mom (Chicago, IL)  See all my reviews >

My 9 month old just loves this toy-- she smiles at it & gives it a big hug. Hopefully it will continue to hold her attention as she learns her colors in 3 languages.

Daughter doesn't play with it March 4, 2008 Reviewer:  Mrs. K (Springfield, IL, USA)  See all my reviews >

This is a really cute toy. I thought My daughter would love it. She won't play with it. Although I'm not crazy about the multi-lingul capabilities, it is a good toy.

thoughtful November 10, 2007 Reviewer:  Concerned Mom "Rebecca O" (Fall River, MA)  See all my reviews >

i never thought of the inflection as racist, just a computerized mispronounciation. and it only seems apparent on the english setting. personally, if people are getting upset over the way a toy says brown, they need to get over themselves, black (or brown) or not

my 7 month old loves "cappy" and we seldom leave home without her.

fun June 10, 2009 Reviewer:  A. Tavel Real Name (san antonio, tx)  See all my reviews >

my son likes this toy but get bored with it. He is 3 1/2 mnths old and is loves that it makes music but is not too intrigued with the fact that when you press the octopuses' tenticles it names colors but hopefully he will learn to enjoy this

Wonderful toy April 15, 2009 Reviewer:  Ian's mommy "Ian's mommy" (Florida)  See all my reviews >

This was one of the first toys I bought for my son when he was about 3 months old. He is now 13 months and still plays with it all the time. The music is fun a cheerful and its great way to learn Spanish, and French (since there aren't many French speaking toys out there)
I would recommend this toy and buy it again!
