I received this set as a gift. As stated by another reviewer, the true color of the background is more of a warm beige. The pattern and colors are classic, but the square shape makes the look updated. Seem very sturdy, even in the dishwasher. I plan to order more to make a larger set.

Very nice looking dishes. Absolutely cannot be used in the microwave. The large plates do not turn in a turning microwave and they are Way too hot to touch. The plates take all of the heat and the foot does not. They chip very easily as well. The plates are very large and difficult to fit into cupboards. I bought them about a month and a half ago and I am already giving them away.

I LOVE THE LOOK AND FEEL OF THESE DISHES AS LONG AS YOU DON'T USE THEM TO RE-HEAT IN THE MICROWAVE....HOT!!!! EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS MICROWAVE SAFE THESE DISHES CREATE A TON OF HEAT DUE TO THE CONCAVE SHAPE MAKING THEM VERY HOT WHEN REMOVING FROM MICROWAVE...SO, BE CAREFUL!!! DON'T USE IN MICROWAVE & IF YOU DO HAVE POT HOLDERS TO REMOVE AND SIT ON ONE UNTIL COOL AS THEY RETAIN HEAT TOO!!!!

My husband and I got these for Christmas from my parents and they are just beautiful. They are sturdy and heavy. So far I have not had any microwave problems. The colors are gorgeous and are very versatile. I would recommend them to anyone.

wish i had read the reviews first. i just got mine. i was hoping for a whit background. they are beige/sandy which to me makes them dull. then uneveness of the coloring on the background makes them look kind of dirty. they are heavy too.

i do like the square design which is why i selected them. the fit better in the cabinet than my round ones.

as far as microwave safe, my understanding is that it means it won't break in the microwave. i put water in a small plate and heated it for 2 minutes. the only part that was hot was where the water touched, the rest was ok.

I loved the dishes but returned them. They were heavy dishes but that was tolerable, the dinner plate would not fit in the dishwasher.

I bought the large square ones in the store along with some small red square dinner plates. They are heavy and sturdy. I love the pattern. It is a floral but still contemporary. The background is a sandy beige color which does not show up in the picture as well. The separate pieces are available in the store so if you aren't sure go check them out there. I have new cabinets and had they did not fit. I had to rearrange and put them in a corner cabinet. Overall a great value.

I bought these dishes a month ago and am SO pleased!!! The square, largest size fits a lot of food (my husband and I are big eaters). They get a little warm in the microwave, but not bad to the touch. They barely fit in my new cabinets, but just enough. They easily fit in my dishwasher. They are durable and heavy (cutting or scratching a fork or knife on them is not a problem). I bought a set of eight of the bowls(which are deep and large), the cups (fit lots of coffee) and the small salad plates. I loved them so much I went back to make it twelve of each!!! The colors are warm, earthy, and cute!
