I purchased the mop, read the instructions and was never able to get it to work. It was very easy to assemble. Will try a different mop.

I, like many of you, have seen the info-mercial on this mop where everything magically disappears with a gentle wipe. If that is what you are expecting then this product is not for you.
This mop was very effective at cleaning my hardwood floors. I have 2 inside pets that tend to make messes with their water bowl, so by the time I am home from work I have messy little foot prints all over my floors. I have tried Swiffers, but they leave a film and I can still see where the little feet were. And mopping with the heavy mop and bucket for just a few spots is ridiculous.
The Shark Steam Mop is very light weight, and easy to use. You do sometimes have to let the steam work on an area, unlike the commercial shows. Stains do not just magically disappear. Sometimes you have to use a little elbow grease. All in all I love this mop, and will definitely tell my friends to get one too.

Please, listen to the bad reviews. My husband bought this for me before reading the reviews. Bad move. On the third time using it the handle snapped in half. I am a tiny woman and could hardly be accused of using too much force. The pad was wet too so there was no resistance. What a waste of time and money!

Save your pennies and buy a sturdier product!

I am in a home with four other people and one medium sized dog. We used to have a swiffer that we would use day to day to clean up little areas of the floor in our heaviest traffic areas. Then, once a week we would go through the traditional mop and bucket. What a hassel! Now that we have the shark steam mop, we can give our floor a deep clean every day. I love that it cutts out all of those harsh chemicals we used to clean with and at 3 lbs it is much easier to move between rooms and floors in the house. The only issue I have is that the pads are harder to clean than the infomercials would have us believe. However, the Shark Steam Mop is a great investment for any home!

I have a very large hairy dog who absolutely trashes our den with dirt and hair. I have hard surface flooring and found mopping too difficult and the water wasn't hot enough. I then tried the swifter wet mop products but honestly I felt like I was just moving the dirt around and I read somewhere that the chemicals in the wet mop products are toxic to dogs. I bought this and love it. It's light so it doesn't hurt my back. It blasts out a surprising amount of steam and my floors are cleaner than they have ever been. No grime, grease, soap or build-up and I feel like it wouldn't be a big deal to steam the floors every week to keep it nice and clean.

I liked it so much, I also mopped my tile entry way, my wood floors in the kitchen and the bathroom - it's a small tank but it heats up quickly and I didnt have to refill it so overall I was very pleased. I am not sure it would actually clean up heavy heavy dirt. It did soften up some paint I spilled on the tile. For an overall good clean of surface dirt and to disinfect the floors, I would say go for it! It definately beats the mopping method and was easy on my back. The pad stayed in place, the handle was easy to manuever and the floor was dry very quickly, which my dog appreciated very much!

I went ahead and purchased this mop even though the reviews were mixed. It seems like people either love or hate it. I was prepared for the worst with the handle, but I made sure it was all the way snapped and I thought the handle was fine for how light weight the mop is. It did a great job on the floor. I had just cleaned it yesterday and was surprised to see what it picked up. It does not "glide" as easily as I thought it would, but I felt like the resistance was good to allow the microfiber pad to get in all the little texture of my floor. I felt great that I was cleaning the floor and killing germs without using chemicals. That is a great peace of mind having a little one that crawls around. I used filtered water. I have a R/O system and did not have any problems with streaks. I would definately recommend this product!

I've had my steam mop for a little over a month now, and overall I'm very impressed. It's lightweight and easy to use and does a good job of cleaning. I have back issues and even more importantly, have developed allergies to many chemicals and fragrances. Most household cleaners now cause me to break out with hives. The natural cleaners are better...but not inexpensive. I've mostly started making my own cleaners using natural ingredients like vinegar and essential oils. I do appreciate that I can do a pretty thorough job on my floor using just 2 cups of distilled water (and I have a big kitchen floor). To make it smell prettier I sprinkle a few drops of essential oils on the pad (my favorite is cinnamon..it also has natural antiseptic properties) and the steam from the cleaner diffuses the scent and makes my house smell great.
I have not tried using this with tap water. Distilled water was only around 89 cents for a gallon, and I'm still on my first gallon..so to me that doesn't seem like an unreasonable expenditure. My floors dry shiny and streak free.
On the down side...if your floor is very dirty, you will probably need to give it a good scrubbing and then use this to maintain it. I don't think it does a good job along baseboards and in corners..so I will need to do those the old-fashioned way every now and then. I also have concern about the flimsiness of the handle..if you push down hard, it bows. Hopefully the manufacturers are paying attention and will rememdy that with their next version.

This is my 2nd steam mop. I have the eureka and hate it. This one is so easy to use and the steam is ready in 30 seconds. It is easy to clean under cabinets and very light weight. You do need to insert the handle pieces all of the way together. If not they would break off. I Love Mine!!

Ok, so I saw the infomercial for this product, via the internet found out I could save the S&H by purchasing it at Target, got it home and immediately started using it. I can honestly say, I'm impressed! Very easy to put together, plug in, and away we go! I have both tile and laminate flooring in my home, and with three dogs you can bet daily I'm washing away what "the dog dragged in." I also love the fact that I'm cleaning w/water and not chemicals. I only use Method cleaning products (and LOVE them), so while I feel good about that, I have to admit I was truly hooked on the Swiffer WetJet when it came to my floors. But, because my dogs walk around on the floors, lick their paws, I was concerned. Naturally, if this worked as good as it claims, I'd now have nothing to worry about. My finding is this: it glided very easily over my tile floor and got up EVERYTHING. It was tougher using it on my laminate flooring, but with a little elbow grease I did get it to glide without ever having the mop head "stick" or come off as I read in some reviews. A little effort went a long way and the floors look great, smell great, are free of chemicals and NO STREAKING (also as I read in some reviews.) The one major con (and the only thing that stopped me from giving it five stars) is indeed the placement of the power cord. To have it placed on the mop head is just plain silly and I can't believe Shark couldn't find a better place to put it! But, I sort of wrapped it around the unit itself, leaving only the cord needed for the room I was in, and that seemed to help. This is the first product I ever bought where I was compelled to review it! I say go for it - if you don't find the results as I did, you can always return it, but I'm pretty sure you'll be as pleased as I am!

I have had one or two other steam mops over the years, this one is by far the best. Its light weight, I have a bad back, and it actually steams and gets the dirt off and onto the pad. The pad can be cleaned in the washer and re-used. I use it on tile floors, and linoleum bathroom floors. I highly recommend it.
